The crime was not actually "entertaining the children," as the Times headline has it. It was entertaining non-Muslim children. Sharia Alert from the New Democratic Iraq. "Executed for the crime of entertaining the children," from the TimesOnline, with thanks to JE:
FOR the crime of staging a children’s show, Faud Radi and Haidar Jawad were executed by the new moral guardians of Baghdad.The actors were part of the Happy Family Team, a troupe adored by millions of Iraqi children from its frequent appearances on television. The theatrical group and a dozen others were planning an 11-day festival to help youngsters to forget momentarily the curfews, bombings and other dangers of daily life in this city.
Armed militias, which pass for the law in many neighbourhoods these days, had other ideas and set out to sabotage the event.
Safaa Eadi, 31, a founding member of the Happy Family Team, told how the group had been threatened by gunmen, who objected to them giving drama classes to children of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds. A handwritten note had been left on the windscreen of the group’s van, the usual method that the militias employ to warn a target.
“We didn’t take them seriously, so we carried on,” Mr Eadi said. “The next day the building was burnt down.” Then, on the eve of the festival, Mr Radi, 20, and Mr Jawad, 25, were returning to their homes in the Amirayah district of western Baghdad, the heartland of Sunni insurgents.
They were in the van, so they made an easily identifiable target. They had offered to drive a woman friend to hospital on their way. Their vehicle came under a barrage of gunfire on a main road. Mr Jawad and the woman passenger died instantly. Mr Radi was dragged from the van and beaten to death.
Sifting through photographs of the murdered men, Mr Eadi said: “What has Baghdad come to when actors are seen as the enemy? We are not politicians. We don’t care what a child’s religion is. Our goal is to bring joy. Whoever did this cannot have a family of their own, or how could they murder someone who just wanted to make people laugh? This is the start of a mini Taleban in Baghdad if the gunmen decide what we can and cannot do as entertainers.” He buried his head in his hands.
The surviving members of the group voted unanimously to go ahead with the pageant, held at the Children’s Cultural Centre. The performers dared not put up posters, so invitations were passed by word of mouth. Shows were staged during daylight to beat the curfew.

We don’t care what a child’s religion is. Our goal is to bring joy. Whoever did this cannot have a family of their own, or how could they murder someone who just wanted to make people laugh?
Bewildering as this seems to Mr Eadi, it is entirely consistent with the joyless ideology of Islam. Children who laugh, or perhaps poke fun, may grow into adults who question. Laughter is subversive, especially, in Islam, that of women.
Whoever did this probably does have a family of his own, or comes from a large family. It is precisely because he does understand the potential of children's joy and laughter to undermine Islam that he takes such action to nip it in the bud.

I shouldn't be stunned when it was the massacre of children at Beslan which brought me to this site. Murdering children's entertainers, purely for entertaining children is a logical step I suppose.
Truly this is an evil ideology.

For some enthusiasts, anything not explicitly permitted by Muhammad, i.e. anything modern like drama lessons for children, is forbidden. In 2002 I read a New York Review of Books article in which the director of Kabul's zoo--a Muslim--reported being forced to close what was left of it by a Talib gunman. The thug asked him, "Is it written that one may keep a zoo?" I might have snapped back, "Is it written that one may carry a gun?" OK, those would have been my last words ever, but who wants to live forever?

Mercilessly killing the good-hearted and tolerant among them is the Islamic form of eugenics. 1400 years of this extermination for the sake of Islamic purity has left in their population precious few citizens of mild and thoughtful disposition, and those few stand out as easy targets.

What has happened over the last 1400 years is that Islam has killed most of the normal-minded arabs in its midst. The ones that remain breed with each other. That produces people who are less likely to be normal themselves. So they produce children with the same mental traits. And on the cycle goes until 99% of the race is predisposed to cruelty, lacking a conscience, and devoid of human compassion.
They have no compassion for animals, no compassion for children, no compassion for women, no compassion for each other. How do you explain how a mother can send her sons to blow themselves up and be proud. That flies in the face of every motherly instinct to protect her offspring. It goes against the basic genetic code. It is now corrupt at the genetic level.
Essentially, the islamic race has now become an alien race hostile to the planet. Genetically corrupt.
What is the solution?

While modern genetics does show some possibilities in your self-selective breeding concept (reducing levels of certain 'agressive' chemicals in tamed animals, like dogs, over milliennia DID lead to their panoply of coat colors and amazingly diverse shapes as they were bred to be 'less wild'), I think that all Muslims have done is REVERT to the basic deadly animal nature. The one built-into in every predatory life form. Us, included.
Conscience and compassion are 'recessive traits', and can easily be supressed by terror.
But, with some exposure to their possibility- through Western arts, literature, music, religion, etc.- they do seem able to revive and flourish and flood back into life relatively quickly. Like blood into a numb limb.
If Islam can be sent to the same hell that the Aztec heart-ripping cult or the "throw your infants into the fires for Moloch" creed reside in, the children now crushed by this killer Koranic dogma would be likely to re-express their deeper humanity in a generation or two.
It is latent.
We just need to excourage it to be blatant.
The Peoples squashed and dwarfed under the sword-shadow of Islam existed long before this morbid 'religion' did. And their earlier cultures were filled with lively arts, music, joy and creativity.
Cruelty wasn't the code.
Hope rests in the heart of us all.
Islam must be washed away.
Joy is the solvent.

Interested---that's a good observation about the subversive, life affirming and liberating energy of joy and laughter.
The Thinker---yes, Islam is an anti-life force, springing from the same dark deranged depths as the Death's head cults of the SS and the phalangist right in the Spanish civil war.
It seems to me that the nightmare of human history flows in waves, and on a regular basis, the undealt with and uncleansed horror (thanks Mr Conrad for that one) peaks or manifests in one form or another as a violent,death worshipping,life negating,persecuting,enslaving,witch hunting, totalitarian ideology---going all the way back to Babylon. And now, IT shows itself and acts out as Islamic jihad once again. This could be the worst yet.

Perhaps this incident shows us that democracy and rationality can never prevail in countries where brute force has always prevailed and justified itself in the name of a religion which easily gives it cover. We've played our brute force card. Now what? Shia and Sunnit separated violently and apparently that's the way they will continue. The problem is that our people are in the middle of their medieval battles.

You are absolutely right about our people being in the middle. And for what? This episode, if nothing else, verifys the futility of continuing to try and nation-build in ANY Islamic country. Someone on another post earlier today said we should be in Europe shoring up it's defenses and eradicating Islam from its soil and I think they are correct. We should treat it with the same disdain and suspicion as we did Communism.

I do not think they have devolved to where they are, as per your theory, I think they have evolved to a totally new place biologically. Nowhere in their past were arabs like this. What were they doing prior to 650 AD? The arabs had art and culture. They were part of the semetic tribes existing as all the other humans were existing at that time. At no time, were they hostile to the planet.
Have they devolved to being more animal-like? Again I don't think so. Their society does not display animal traits. Animals do not have ideologies, especially ideologies that conflict with basic animalistic tendencies. Islam is an ascetic culture, unlike anything in nature. Likewise, animals exist as individuals, or in packs at best. Islamics exist as part of a larger collective. Like the Borg on Star Trek TNG. One islamic kills himself in an attack to benefit the whole billion-strong collective. Nowhere do you find this dynamic in nature. Self-preservation is the law of the animal kingdom. Islam flies in the face of that. Indeed, when an islamic mother wishes her son to blow himelf up for the Allah, her motherly instinct to preserve her offspring, which is one of the strongest traits in the animal world, and certainly the strongest in the human condition, is overriden. There is nothing animalistic about that. Not even animals do that.
Islam, through the killing of offspring that do not accept the unnatural dictates of its unholy premises, produces a more purely bred islamic mind where normal traits are absent. Thus the race, if we can call it that, becomes genetically altered to produce and accept behavior that is otherwise unacceptable to normal humans, indeed, what is unacceptable even to animals.
So Islam, as an ideology, has produced its own genetic variation in 1.2 billion humans. And those genetic variations are hostile to all other humans. In fact, the ideology that produces these traits has in it the stated goal to absorb the rest of humanity. It is like a virus. Or the Borg.
Can this genetic deviation be corrected? No. Because Islam keeps its genetic pool protected from outside influences. And with each generation, these traits become more aggressive.
Their is no solution for this problem.

There is "fun" in fundamentalism. And if you say that in the Middle East you could lose your head!
What I make of this is that Islamic ideology is a facade. With Islam it is the killing iself that is the religion. Islam began as human sacrifice on the ziggurats of Babylon and spiraled into the horror of unlimited spree massacres we know it as today.
Killing is really all there ever was to Islam. Perhaps the old mesopotamian belief that the more one kills the more one's man-made idol takes on divine properties is the driving mechanism below the surface. THAT explains to me why these were massacred. Simply put, they were fed to a snicker-snack in the sky.

Another example of the end results of Neo-Con nation-building. This would have never happened if Saddam Hussein and the secular Ba'ath party were still in power.
After the conquest of Iraq, the US adopted a policy of disolving the Iraqi military and eliminating from power all remnants of the Ba'ath party which were the only secular institutions capable of governing Iraq. Instead, they empowered the Islamist forces, Shi'a, Sunni, and Kurdish, which now rule the country.
Under the new US imposed constitution, Islam is now enshrined as the source of all law, and non-Muslims have lost all protection. That is why over a million Iraqi Christians have fled to Ba'athist Syria. Meanwhile, Iraq is moving into a bloody civil war to determine whether the Shi'ite or Sunni version of Shari'a will be dominant.

the brave men who produced plays for children are the bravest of them all! they do not want to join with the jihadist, and want to live normal like other humans, and some were killed by these islamist zealots. some see so much negative, l see positive elements to this story, as you cannot kill off human goodness. their stories need to be told by the West as wel as others in the mid East.

The above proves that Islam is in a losing war because the enemy, Satan, knows that he has lost the war and that the true victor is the Risen King Jesus Christ. The Risen Jesus won both the battle and the war against the enemy and his kingdom on that first Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It was done by Jesus because of His love and mercy for all of hummanity and creation. The victory belongs to Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven. Also the above is a reminder of the fear Muslim jihadists have for the reality that the true fastest growing faith is the Christian faith. Another reason is that like a number of the other posts, this posting reminds me also of the famous aliens, the borg.
