Well, I must believe that the judge(s) behind that ruling have lost the plot. That dude is a child molester (overlooking the fact that he is a moslim child molester), doing what?, an eight year luxury holiday?
I know its many times somewhat hot in Brisbane, but that goes too far. This needs a more staunch approach than the goodie goodie we-are-western-christians-and-we-are-good-and-we-love-ourselves-because-we-are-Aussies-who-are-known-to-be-fair-but-physical...
Lets hope for the appeal.

suggestion for the Aussie prison service. According to the Quran, the Muslims are allowed to eat Jewish food, meaning kosher food. Now, there are a lot of tasty canned kosher meat products. You can pick up a wide variety of canned kosher meat products here in Israel, and probably in Australia too. If he doesn't like kosher food, show him the Quranic passage which permits him to eat it. If he still doesn't eat it, then go back to his Muslim canned foods. And if he refuses that, let him eat bread and fish.

Child molester in a luxury resort. Sometimes I think we have stretched this 'human' thing too far. Prisoners can actually demand the type of food they want to eat ? And a sentence is a holiday to be passed as comfortably as possible. I sometimes remember the old movies, where the inmates were breaking stones under a hot sun. The good old days.

Perhaps he is not thankful that the AU prisons are like a holiday for him.

Perhaps they should send him to malaysia. There will be no problems for him for halal food especially when you have rice & potatoes everyday.

I was also told that muslims could eat non halal food in times of war or for survival. A simple meaning when you dont have the luxury to choose what you want - prisoner.

Perhaps, AU should read the quran & propose him the Islamic way of punishment for a child molestor. Stoning to death.

Let him have the right to choose.

Do Ozzie prisons require prisoners be given meat? If not, just give the man a vegetarian diet, peanut butter sandwiches, or canned tuna. If he wanted to eat at a restaurant, he shouldn't have committed the crime.

This is a shameful ridiculous situation.

There was a similar kerfuffle in the Kimberley region in North-West Australia late last year when a hospital dietician decided that, not only was halal food going to be made available, but also pork and ham would be taken off the menu to avoid offending those sensitive Mohammedans.

This cringing act of dhimmitude caused some public discussion, not because halal food was to be available to the mohammedans, but because the other patients couldn't have their tradional Christmas dinner.

The dietician defended her decision saying that Christian patients should be happy to eat halal food as there are no dietary laws applying to Christians. This is not the case, I believe that Christians are forbidden to eat meat which has been sacrificed to "foreign gods". which may apply (??) to halal food.

I am surprised that halal food isn't available in the jails in Queensland, we see an Australian wide trend where abattoir workers are increasingly mohammedans. How much of the beef and lamb we buy from our local supermarket or butcher is halal food?, should Christians start a campaign against this trend?, maybe we should start buying kosher.

The tinned (canned) halal meat presumably is a commercial product, prepared by Muslims, and sold in Muslim stores, and bought by Muslims. Unless no cans of such tinned meat are bought -- which is doubtful -- at least some Muslims buy it, eat it, and find it adequate.

That being the case, the prisoner's demand was one of a certain level of indulgence. He found it too "salty" and too "fatty." Yes, and I would prefer to buy wild Pacific salmon to the fish-farm Atlantic variety, and if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Why could not the Court conclude that while this was not the very best Halal meat available, it was apparently good enough for many Muslims who had the choice not to buy it, but did so, and there was no reason to guarantee a higher level of culinary pleasure and health to this child molester.

Oh, and he could also consider giving up meat altogether. There is no reason why the Australian prison authorities must guarantee him meat with his meals.

Absurd. Every which way.

One last question. That $2,000? Will it be handed over to the authorities in partial payment for the cost of his upkeep? No? Why not? Room and board would have to paid for whether he was in prison or not. Let everything he gets go to relieve Australian taxpayers.

Someone should recommend that his "fresh" meals be served by the Aussie version of "Bubba." I believe it's understood in most civil(OOPS, I MEAN MODERN) societies that child molesters are the bottom of the food chain. Then again these types probably would not mind such a visit. If he were in OPP(Orleans Parish Prison)even post Katrina, they would tell him to eat his bologna sandwich and stfup!
