Obviously this woman was delusional but unlike primitive religions where the local lunatic is protected, Islam can let no slight go unanswered
and paid her in the only coin they have: violence.

I really doubt that the extermination of the Islam here will do anything but IMPROVE the quality of life on this planet.

The police station was damaged by the youth with dangerous weapons like sticks and iron as they tried to force themselves to the station to capture the lady

Just to clarify, since this leaflet contained material insulting to Jesus and "some pastors", were the mobilised "youth" Christians?

Sometimes when you read the papers you get the impression that all non-Muslims are middle-aged.

Anyway, I suppose the police in Niger don't have firearms of any kind since people with "dangerous weapons" like sticks and stones managed to overpower them. Or more likely, they just handed her over because they wanted to.

One of the key phrases in the report: "As the policemen flee the scene." Translation: As soon as the youth, armed with "sticks and stones and other dangerous weapons," showed up at the police station, the cops pushed the poor girl out the front door to the waiting, murderous mob and the brave policemen high tailed it out the back door of the cop shop.

It could be that the "tiny minority" of extremists -- which we all know is an absolute demographic constant wherever there are Muslims -- were somehow able to spontaneously and miraculously grow out of the ordinary general populace of Muslims into a mob so large they were able to overpower a few policemen.

I've seen film of people being 'executed' by stoning.

'Instantly' is the wrong word here.

I really feel for this poor girl, who probably suffered for hours at the hands of this barbaric mob.

The story reminds me of that Iranian judge whom sentencing a 16 year old girl to death for immorality, said he would like to carry out the sentence himself. He did, as well, putting the noose around her neck with his own hand. Being able to kill a woman, in the name of Islam, seems to be a particular little treat for these people.

Islam is inferior becuase they kill off all those who have the bravery (or stupidity) to try to change the system. She did what any brave idealist does. In Europe and America they paid the price but they at least lasted long enough to do good and they get statues and places named after them.....Bruno was killed by the Catholic church but today a statue honours him. We know his name.

In muslim countries they die by rock hurling thugs and their names are not even given in the story except that they were killed by "Youths".

Well I shall toast the no name girl tonight and perhaps someday we shall know her name....I shall not forget.

This is the same wonderful country that wanted to stone a young woman to death a couple of years ago. Her "crime"? She was raped by her uncle, and conceived a child. Her pregnancy was considered proof of her "adultery" (unlawful sex). Of course, her word counted for nothing against her uncle.

I think world pressure finally led them to commute the sentence. The original plan was to let her give birth, and then take her out to a field and stone her to death.

Muslims in Nigeria are particularly pathological: remember the riots over Miss Universe, riots in which houses and stores were set on fire, and people were murdered. Muslim lynch mobs in Nigeria have at other times beheaded Christians at the drop of a hat. Muslims have also violently opposed a native practice of motorcycle "taxi" drivers who are paid to take females to school or work -- an otherwise safer way for them to get there than to walk or take buses: but Muslims violently oppose this because the females would have to sit behind the male driver and hold onto his waist. Take a little time to read some of the regional news services of Nigeria available on the Net: it's another hell on earth in the wonderful mosaic of the Muslim World.

I suspect this was a suicide. The girl knew what would happen. She was surely depressed being stuck in a society run by Muslims. She had no avenue of escape and probably no money. She had enough dignity to refuse to be a MOs woman.

She showed more courage and bravery than the men in the town and policestation, she should be honored.

Nigeria's oil wealth is a fairly recent discovery -- Isn't it interesting that the recent Pew survey found Muslims in Nigeria to be the most virulent anti-Westerners in the world? It's obvious to me that Saudi Arabia and other Muslim entities are taking special care to bring Nigeria cynically and malignantly into the anti-Western Islamosphere in order to shore up the near complete Muslim dominance of global oil supplies. The civil war waged in Nigeria by Muslims against the non-Muslims (who occupy most of the oil rich regions) is a pure and craven oil grab.

What kind of god do these people worship? A god that allows for the stoning to death of young women not even in their prime? The people who did this are possessed of mentalities that haven't yet emerged from the caves of our remote ancestors. They have no imagination, no sense of wonder beyond what their religious teachers have taught them. They're like cracked records, playing the same boring tune over and over again.
The western powers must take on these bigoted attitudes and defeat them. Old ideas and beliefs need stoning to death, not people.

A couple of decades ago the World Health Organization came very close to wiping out polio for good, as smallpox had been wiped out a decade before that. It would have been a great boon to mankind, particually children.

What happened? As JSLA noted, Imams and other "leaders" in muslim countries in the Sahel and sub-Saharan Africa started anti-Western rumors about polio vaccines. Polio has made a huge resurgence there. There is also a fear that it may start spreading to surrounding countries where it had been largely irradicated.
