Holocaust denial from Australia's senior Islamic cleric

Tiny Minority of Extremists Alert from The Australian (thanks to JE): "Holocaust claims a Zionist lie: mufti"

THE nation's Islamic leader, Sheik Taj Din al-Hilali, has dismissed the Holocaust as a "Zionist lie" in a series of fiery sermons in which he also lashed out at the West and the US-led occupation of Iraq. And Sheik Hilali -- the Mufti of Australia and a member of John Howard's Muslim Community Reference Group -- also accuses the Government of being dishonest for claiming the anti-terrorism laws were not designed specifically for Muslims.
"These laws are tailored to target us precisely," he said in a sermon recorded at Sydney's Lakemba Mosque in November - one of a number of recordings The Weekend Australian has of Sheik Hilali's religious addresses delivered in Arabic over the past eight months.
Revelations that the nation's most senior Islamic cleric has been openly preaching extreme messages to his mainstream followers will be a major setback for the Howard Government.
Sheik Hilali is a senior member of the Prime Minister's Muslim advisory board. Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs Andrew Robb will tomorrow unveil details of federal funding for national projects to help address problems within the Islamic community.
[...]
Attorney-General Philip Ruddock said the mufti's intolerance of other religions was hypocritical. "It is not the time for anyone in positions of responsibility to make comments about other groups, particularly if you are someone who has been concerned about a lack of tolerance towards Muslims," he said.

Indeed. But is his position on Howard's Muslim advisory board in any danger?

In a February sermon, Sheik Hilali attacked the Western press for being afraid to admit that the Holocaust was "a ploy made by the Zionists".
He also trivialised the number of Jews killed by the Nazis. "What's that six million all about? Is there six million?", said the Egyptian-born cleric, before calling on Muslims worldwide to boycott Danish goods over the publication of cartoons that offended Muslims for their depiction of the prophet Mohammed.

Quoted above..

He is almost saying that Islam IS a suporter of terror.

So much could be better understood if we did say it as it is, but in the world the gloves are still cartoon big.

Islam is the enemy.

How is the large Lebanese muslim community in Australia reacting to the events in the Middle East? I know we have quite a few Australian readers/posters here at JW/DW - any reactions?

At first I thought it was outrageous that Eurocountries would make it a crime to publicly deny the Holocaust, what with my American idea of Freedom of Speech and everything else. Now, with our enemies doing it to stir up their illiterate masses, it's a good idea and should be used.

.
Well, DUH!! It's the muslim community that terrorism comes from.

They can deny the Holocaust all they want, they are just jealous that Hitler beat them to it. It's history, and if these people spent a little more time on education instead of in the war manual, they'd know it.

Lunatics running the asylum alert.

Our local fifth column have been quite noisy here the past few days, protesting against Isreal. No protests against the Mumbai bombings though, can't understand why.

freewomen,
Hitler did'nt beat them to it, they had a hand in it. http://tellthechildrenthetruth.com/amin_en.html
The clerics keep opening their fresh mouths and we appear none the wiser, NOT...

I wonder why this little piece of history was left out? Why do we always hear it was JUST Hitler? I was raised up before the PC generation got a hold of education, and I don't remember ANYTHING of muslims in WWII.

@freewoman:

"in May 1945 when Charles de Gaulle, embittered about France's exclusion from the Yalta negotiations, rescued the notorious former Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin, from appearing at the Nuremberg Trials as a war criminal. The Mufti had spent most of the war in Berlin, but now he offered his influence in the Arab world, and especially the Muslim Brotherhood, to advance a new alliance with France.

Growing public knowledge of his Nazi past and war crimes forced the French to facilitate his escape from Paris to Egypt, where he maintained contact with the French Embassy, through to his settling in Lebanon in 1962."

Every time these mullahs open their mouths, they reveal their stupidity. They've got to be the most immature beings on earth.

I got an Arab holocaust denier so upset once that he basically said.

"The holocaust is just a Zionist lie and anyway I'm glad Hitler killed 6 million jews, I wish he killed them all!" The level of idiocy would be funny if it weren't so frightening!

I had raised the point that even the commandant of Auschwitz and other top Nazi war criminals on trial for their LIVES didn't even THINK to deny that the holocaust happened!

Cosmic Avenger, so De Gaulle, upset at being excluded from Yalta, got his revenge by aiding the escape of a mufti who was also a Nazi, and then France continued an alliance with him and the Arab world.

So is the establishment of Eurabia the result of De Gaulle being miffed at not being at Yalta?

He also trivialised the number of Jews killed by the Nazis. "What's that six million all about? Is there six million?"
.........

More of that carefully vetted, step-by-step historical research. Basically, we are dealing with pre-rational people.

The cognitive dissonance *is* frightening. I mentioned this on another post, but I think it bears repeating. I once read an interview with a young Muslim man (I think he was Indonesian) who basically said of 9/11 both that it was pulled off by the CIA (with help from MOSSAD) and that it never happened at all, but was just movie effects. The kicker, though, was that while he was being interviewed, he was clearly wearing one of those hideous shirts for kids with a picture of Osama bin Laden against the image of the burning twin towers.

Yes, I agree, these things would be funny if they weren't so awful.

These comments also apply to everyone who denegrates most Mohammedan leaders as being stupid.

Please do not underestimate these seemingly stupid Mohammedan clerics. They are not stupid. They are cold, calculating evil individuals who know how to manipulate their illiterate or otherwise ignorant followers. The Mohammedan unwashed masses who hear this believe it, and many of them actually believe that the Jews originally came from Europe. The Chief Thug of Iran knows the truth, but he still spouts that Big Lie about Jews going back to Europe.

Remember, our fathers and grandfathers once underestimated the Japanese in 1941.

@voltaire

DeGaulle´s actions then were surely a factor (among many others) in the rise of Eurabia..
my text above is merely a quote from this highly interesting report:

The Islamic apologist, Ziauddin Sardar, has a phrase he uses several times in his writings: 'christian gaschambers'. You would assume that all Muslims would, like him, use the holocaust as a stick with which to beat western culture ('they're all tarred with the same brush' etc). Certainly the moderate UK Muslim, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, has said that many European Muslims, ever since Srebenica, have believed that if there is ever another European holocaust, Muslims will be its victims.
Why is it, then that so many prefer to say it didn't happen. This is mainly, I suppose, to deny the Jews any claim to victimhood (something which should be a Muslim monopoly) and to prevent the historical event being used as a justification for, and to gain sympathy for, the state of Israel. There also seems to be a mania for conspiracy theories in general throughout the middle east.
Sometimes, however, a rather unpleasant thought crosses my meind, briefly: could it possibly be that they cannot believe that those effete and feeble Christains could have done something so (to the perverted way of thinking of some of them) impressive? Something that dwarfed such things as their actions in Armenia? No, those infidels are not brave, tough or fanatical enough: they don't even see the fun in slitting a sheep's throat. The whole thing must be an invention.
I have to say that I've never seen this view expressed by a Muslim, but it would, at least, in part, help to explain the paradox of their holocaust denial.

WallyUK

On the one hand muslims deny the Holocaust, and then claim that Muslims in Europe are being persecuted as Jews were in Nazi Germany.

It not dissonance of the mind but a deliberate policy. Some poeple in the West (BBC for one), are going to swallow one or the other part, and some are dumb enough to swallow both.

How is the large Lebanese muslim community in Australia reacting to the events in the Middle East?

CGW, it depends.

Muslim-Lebanese: typical whinging about how the horrid Australian govt isn't swooping in, on Blackhawks, plucking everyone (including the 25,000 "Australians" who chose to live in Lebanon) to safety.

Christian-Lebanese: understands the govt is doing the best it can given the circumstances.

How can the mohammdedans denz the Holocaust when there were Waffen SS and WErmacht batallions composed of mohammedans from Bosnia and the USSR,as it then was?

Hopefully they'll dump him, like they're thinking of doing ...

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Robb, yesterday attacked Sheik Hilaly's comments in The Weekend Australian as "offensive and divisive".

He said the Egyptian-born leader would be stripped of his senior position on the Muslim Community Reference Group when its membership was reviewed next month.

"It's unlikely he will continue," Mr Robb, who oversees the Muslim advisory board, said yesterday.
