Another Sharia Alert from Iran via the Sunday Mirror, with thanks to JE:
A GIRL of 19 faces being hanged in Iran for a crime she didn't commit.Delara Darabi was just 17 when her boyfriend, Amir Hossein, persuaded her to confess to a murder he committed.
Believing she was saving him from execution and that she would be freed because of her youth, she told a judge she had broken into a house and killed a woman.
Hossein, 19, was jailed for 10 years. Now human rights group Amnesty International has launched a campaign to free Delara, whose last-ditch appeal begins next month.
Spokesman Neil Durkin said: "We want Sunday Mirror readers to add their voices to the 2,000 appeals already sent by our members to the Iranian authorities."
Iran has signed an international treaty promising not to execute minors. Instead it imprisons them until they are 18 before ordering their deaths. To protest see www.amnesty.org.uk

I'm sure he persuaded her under the threat of death. But, he got his worthless life spared.

I wonder how may other minors in the Islamic world are executed after being forced to confess to murders that they never committed either. I have a sickening feeling that the number is probably high.

What you excised from the article Robert is the following
Amnesty International UK director Kate Allen said: "The killing of Atefeh is a catalogue of the most appalling human rights violations. The public hanging of a child, believed to be mentally incompetent, totally beggars belief. To hang a child flies in the face of all that is humane."
Give credit where it is due, Amnesty International has jumped into the frey and condemned this affair, and why haven't we heard anything about it from right wing news media like Fox, MSNBC,Chicago Tribune, Commentary, Human Events, NRO, Limpballs, Oreilly, Washington Post, etc.?

Death or a life as a sex slave to a man your dad likes but you hate, I can't feel sorry for this child. I wish she could have escaped but she is just one of hundreds of millions of children threatened by islam. Does any muslim female really have a life worth living? Had this not happened she would have been one of four wives and lived her life as a baby machine while young and built in baby sitter as she aged.

One of the well known taqiyya quotes from Muslims runs something like, "It's better to let a guilty person go free than an innocent person die".
The definitions of the terms 'guilty' and 'innocent' notwithstanding, this story looks like a combo: the sentencing of the real murderer to 10 years (after which, he walks?), while the one who made a false confession gets the rope. While she did deserve a minimal prison term for obstruction of justice, she certainly didn't deserve a worse punishment than the real murderer.
However, Islamic logic being what it is, don't expect much of Islamic justice.

With this story, and the previous (the two-year-old story about the 16 year-old girl hanged for being raped), it sounds like the Administration is kicking the "vilify Iran" campaign into high gear. Remember before the Iraq war, when the Iraqi woman was invited by the Administration to come before Congress and how she tearfully told how the evil Iraqis had killed premature babies in the hospital? Except it turned out she made it all up?
We have to accept it: these are the (brutal, sick, twisted) rules they have chosen for their society. It seems foreign to us, but it is Sharia they wanted, so Sharia they shall have. If women/gays/Christians/decent human beings living there don't like it, then they should change it. But it's not our problem to solve.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for kicking Iran's *ss, uhh I mean removing the future potential military capabilities of Iran. But start with the wrong assumptions (they all just want freedom and peace bla bla bla), justify it with the wrong justification (we need to save the Iranians from themselves), proceed towards the wrong goals (Light Unto the Islamic Nations), and Voila! We'll soon be building up infrastructure in another Islamic nation even as our soldiers are being killed.
To put it in words that may ring familiar to the Administration's admirers:
Just say "No!" to Islamic nation building!
or, if you prefer,
Read my lips: no new Islamic nation building!
The same applies to Israel in Lebanon. Destroy then leave. Repeat as necessary.

Agree with you. Like in the Marshall plan, the minimum that must happen is Iran and any other 'victim' get de-Islamified. Nor should any compensation be paid by the US after such a war, as was done after the war of 1812, the Spanish-American War, the Mexican war,...

As revolutionary Guards manning Katyushas hhave been killed in Lebanon, now is an ample opportunity to take down the evil Iranian regime and get justice for Delara, and that 16-year-old girl hanged for having a sharp tongue.

Agree with you. Like in the Marshall plan...Infidel Pride, I agree with you on most things, but as near as I can tell we don't agree on this point: a Marshall-type Plan is exactly what the Administration is trying to implement, and exactly what I am opposed to. We have not "defeated" Islam (in Afghanistan, Iraq, or anywhere else) the way we defeated Germany and Japan. Going in and forcing them to give up sharia and 1300+ years of culture and values, and to force them to accept our culture and values (for example, not hanging 19 year old girls for murders their boyfriend committed) in order to "save" and "enlighten" their population is what I'm arguing against. I would like us to be much less generous in propogating our values abroad, and much more protective of freedoms and rights here at home. If these unseen masses of moderates love democracy so much, let them get their own. We can reach out to help true democracy movements, but let's be honest, these stories are about people who live in sharia, chose to break the rules of sharia, and now they are being punished according to the rules of sharia. These are not human rights activists being persecuted for their philosophical beliefs, they are simply a few examples of what happens to normal everyday people who live under sharia. To us it's horrific, but to them it's business as usual. Posted by: special_guest
