After the experience of 9/11 and other jihad terror attacks involving Saudis who were students in the United States, the Bush Administration has decided that what we need are...more Saudi students. And the Saudis, of course, are happy to oblige. From AP, with thanks to News4U:
Thousands of students from Saudi Arabia are enrolling on college campuses across the United States this semester under a new educational exchange program brokered by President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah. The program will quintuple the number of Saudi students and scholars here by the academic year's end. And big, public universities from Florida to the Kansas plains are in a fierce competition for their tuition dollars.
The kingdom's royal family — which is paying full scholarships for most of the 15,000 students — says the program will help stem unrest at home by schooling the country's brightest in the American tradition. The U.S. State Department sees the exchange as a way to build ties with future Saudi leaders and young scholars at a time of unsteady relations with the Muslim world.
Administrators at Kansas State University, an agricultural school surrounded by miles of prairie grass, say the scholarships are a bonanza for public education.
"The Saudi scholarship program has definitely heightened our interest in that part of the world," said Kenneth Holland, associate provost for international programs. "Not only are the students fully funded, but they're also paying out-of-state tuition."
Kansas State has boosted efforts to court Saudi officials in the last year, flying administrators and department heads to the Saudi embassy in Washington. It's paid off: last month about 150 Saudi students started classes there, each funded to the tune of about $31,000.
Saudi Embassy spokesman Nail Al-Jubeir said 90 percent of the 10,229 Saudi students the U.S. State Department has registered for the fall semester will also get such scholarships.
By January, U.S. government officials say the program will expand to 15,000 students, which means Saudi Arabia will send more foreign students to the U.S. than Mexico or Turkey. As funding for the scholarship program expands, those numbers are likely to grow.
"This is a critically important bilateral relationship," said Tom Farrell, a deputy assistant secretary for academic programs at the State Department. "It's an opportunity to increase understanding of Saudi Arabia for the United States and of the United States for Saudi Arabia."
College administrators say common misperceptions about the oil-rich nation make it crucial to create a tolerant environment for Arab and Muslim students, who have been singled out for scrutiny since the Sept. 11 attacks five years ago.
So, as Kansas State students enjoy a string of home football games this month, they also are preparing for the campus' first celebration of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.
"We really want to make this special. We're going to truck in halal food from Kansas City," Holland said. "The Saudi government is trying to place the students in a variety of institutions across the country, but where you get the competitive advantage is how you treat the students when they get here."

help stem unrest at home
That struck me. The only people causing unrest in Saudi Arabia, besides those pesky women drivers, are people who want to overthrow the Sauds, in other words Jihadists. So the royal family gets to keep living in a decadent and hedonistic lifestyle while we deal with their human waste.

The money we pay them for the oil is what is used to fight the jihad against us. If we had enough common sense and the will to rule we would have occupied the oil-fields long ago and made sure that this situation is contained. Instead we are financing our own demise.
By financing young Saudi's to infiltrate the US by the thousands, to spread hatred and corrupt the education-system with an unlimited supply of petro-dollars, to give access to, and allow the 'mingling' of unsuspecting naive college-kids with these indoctrinated, hateful swine from the desert, we surely made it easy for them! No wonder they believe we are fundamentally corrupt, no wonder they believe they can get away with anything and that we are ripe for the taking.
How many young lives will be ruined, how many young American females will be taken in by the charms and the white robes of the bearded sons of 'Allah,' who will make them disappear under a burkha if they fall for those 'liquid brown eyes?' How many young American males will try to 'learn about Islam' from these desert-foxes, and in turn be turned against their country when they decide to call themselves 'Abdullah' or 'Mohammed' and start attacking their own people, who have suddenly turned into infidels who oppress them?

How absolutely nauseating! Why don't you see if you can line up a few sex slaves for them while you're at it; they seem to be partial to Indonesians. It is embarrassing to watch these American universities cowtow to the oleaginous Saudis. I certainly hope that they (and we) don't pay a horrific price for this misguided folly. The way I see it, 15,000 Saudi Wahabbi spies will be dispersed throughout our nation; a chilling and sobering thought.

A posting 11 months ago, about a similar story of Saudi students arriving in the United States for "study":
"Each Saudi student will bring with him his large Saudi stipend, his taste for fast cars, his need to hire people to help with his homework and write his papers (a good many people make livings writing those papers, right up to the so-called doctoral level), and to buy the favors of impressionable Infidel girls who, as the imams counsel, can be regarded as temporary wives for the sake of sex, and jettisoned promptly at the end of the "student's" stay.
The mere presence of each student is disruptive, disruptive to morals, disruptive to classes inhibited, when relevant, the matter of Islam. Such students will require extra paperwork, extra monitoring by the local police. They may participate in student political organizations, pushing the Saudi line.
In other words, they are a headache and an expense. We do not need them. But they need our educational system. So let there be a special government-to-government surcharge, paid by the Saudi government directly to our government (which, in turn, may find intelligent ways to send some of that money to the colleges involved and to local police and other security agencies).
One may suggest possibly $100,000 per student, as a modest beginning. That would pay the salary and benefits (including contribution to a pension p[lan) for two police officers -- hardly an exorbitant sum.
At 10,000 students, $100,000 security surcharge per student, that amounts to $1 billion.
No, I was wrong. The damage they do to student morale, especially of all those who do their own work, the harm to the local female population, the way in which they manage to debauch so many in so many different ways -- I should have factored in that cost as well.
Let's make it $1 million per student. That comes to $10 billion a year -- considering that we have been Saudi Arabia's sole protector, and remain the sole protector of the very rich House of Al-Saud that takes in close to $200 billion a year for doing absolutely nothing, this is a very reasonable price.
While we may disagree on the amount of the surcharge, some thinking $1 million per student is too little (think of all the lawyers, police, and judges involved everytime a Saudi leaves, taking the children of his American wife with him, or beats or rapes or throws down the stairs his Indonesian or Thai or Filipino maid, or runs someone over in his Ferrari Testarossa after a night of fun), and some just a bit on the high side -- what American in his right mind, knowing what intellectual, moral, and political havoc on and off campuses Arab students, and Saudis the best-heeled among them, have caused in both the United States and Great Britain, would disagree with the general idea?
None."

How many will bring their Philippina/Indonesian maids/slaves with them? Hey, Mr. Holland, associate provost of the international programs at Kansas State, you are gearing up for Ramadan? How about the big Hindu festival? What do you have in the pipeline for that event? Got any Buddhist holidays planned? HOw about some traditional Christmas food and music planned to make your German students feel right at home? This makes me ill. The elites in our country are slowly but surely changing us into a third world country. Of course, they will be living and pontificating and adjudicating from walled-communities.

well I have no compassion for the infidel girls. A stupid remains a stupid.
By the way, how can you have the guts to have sex with an arab? they are the ugliest men on earth, and when you think about the fact that they rape children or animals... bleah.

It's all about MONEY. We have journalist sellouts, consultant sellouts, and now academic sellouts. These Saudis bring cash and lots of it. The universities do not have to process paperwork for student assistance; therefore, the overhead for a Saudi is non-existant. Be suspicious of the smaller marginal private colleges, some of them need Saudis to keep afloat. They should be closed. It's all about MONEY.

I have a distant relative in the car repo business. His wife helps out accasionally. One time the attractive wife lured a Pakistani or Saudi or whatever student into a local bar, while her husband loaded the car. She slipped out the back door. This story is told and retold at family gatherings to the delight of all.

As a '51 K-State graduate I find this really sickening. These are Saudi K12 graduates of madressas which teach nothing but Islamic doctrine and hate for Christians, Jews and Infidels.
Look, we did not educate the Hitler Youth. Why these? What marching orders do they have from Al Qaeda, from Hamas, from the Saudi Embassy? Are we going to have a Saudi Wahabbi Mosque in Manhattan Kansas? Who is watching?
NRA members should be prepared. I do not think these people are coming for education.
I would rather have locusts infect my fair home state than these future terrorists. Celebrate Ramadan? Give me a break.

Let me guess; do 99.9% of these saudi students have penises? That's what we need. More college age male m.e. wingnuts. Thanks prez.

Oh yes, Arabs and Muslims were the 'true' victims of 9-11.
dispicable!

When you are finished venting here I recommend that you pick up the telephone and call the White House, your congressman, and your two state senators. Tell them that this is a very bad idea and will work against us.
At the same time you can protest (after the fact of course) the granting of a visa to Khatami.
I'm pretty sure that most of our elected representatives don't have a good understanding about what Islam is all about. Those of us who do need to make our voices heard each and every time the government panders to the Muslim world.
Try to be nice when you talk to the person who picks up the phone. Most of the time when I call the information that I present is new to them.

The craven meets the greedy meets the corrupt meets the Fictive Realists.
For all the bellowing over the last day, I can see John Kerry in a group embrace with Dubya, Condi, Teddy, Frist, Howard Dean, and any number of angry lesbians from the Association of University Women --- everybody's eyes teared up at the sublime joy of this landmark accomplishment.
Just think of the cash flow to American universities, regrettable institutions that have been annually raising their tuition fees beyond all supply-and-demand reality putatively in order to compensate for the lack of capacity.
Go figure. Go figure Lenin's Give them enough rope and go figure 33:21 on our campuses. While you're at it, go figure why the Moslems always win out.
