The New Duranty Times (thanks to Seymour Paine) is at it again, in an unsigned editorial, "The Pope’s Words":
The Vatican issued a statement saying that Benedict meant no offense and in fact desired dialogue. But this is not the first time the pope has fomented discord between Christians and Muslims. In 2004 when he was still the Vatican’s top theologian, he spoke out against Turkey’s joining the European Union, because Turkey, as a Muslim country was “in permanent contrast to Europe.”
A doctrinal conservative, his greatest fear appears to be the loss of a uniform Catholic identity, not exactly the best jumping-off point for tolerance or interfaith dialogue.
The world listens carefully to the words of any pope. And it is tragic and dangerous when one sows pain, either deliberately or carelessly. He needs to offer a deep and persuasive apology, demonstrating that words can also heal.
Why doesn't the Times, or anyone, point out that riots and threats are not a constructive way to demonstrate that Islam is actually peaceful?
Why doesn't the Times, or anyone, invite Muslims to bring us, and live out, teachings of Muhammad that are not "evil and inhuman"?
Why doesn't the Times, or anyone, take any serious note of the ongoing persecution of Christians by Muslims, as examples of Muslims "fomenting discord" with Christians not just with words, but with lethal deeds?
Some recent examples:
Saudi Arabia: Four African Christians Deported
Molotov cocktail against Christian activist’s home in Bethlehem
Chaldean priest kidnapped in Baghdad
Pakistan: Muslim land-grabbers attack Christians
Egypt: Copts lose homes, freedom over spurious murder charge
And all those are just from the last month.

The usual dhimmi fools rush in. Yes you are not allowed to express the truth about something that will come back and try to hurt you.
Go ahead and criticize Christians,--no problem.
Threats and intimidation work every time on those who are not willing to defend the truth.
I get so sick of some of the comments, and editorials in the Duranty times that I wrote Starbucks to ask why they always put the Duranty times in their stores--- (no responce).

The New Duranty times is a worthless rag, run by no-nothing,historically illiterate, elitist,New York morons. There is no apology good enough at this point short of converting to Islam. The train has left the damn station and nothing more is to said. The genie is out of the bottle, and isn't go back in no matter how hard we grovel. The worthless rag of record and any other apology hounds in the west have nothing to say in this situation. The West ideally should close ranks and tell the shouting,pathetic,sub-literate rent a-mob to go to hell.
The war is on and it isn't going to end anytime soon, what are going do? The children in Maslum world have been waiting for the flimisiest of material to go crazy again.

You know, this was the site that I went to first this morning to find out if the Pope had already issued some quasi capitulationist comment. I thought he might hold out for several days, didn't take long for the weak men at the Vatican to fold. They folded faster than the proverbial "cheap lawn chair."
This says a great deal about the moral and intellectual training of the priesthood. These men simply aren't being educated. From former generations of priests, .......................... you wouldn't have gotten this nonsense.
Just the other night, I went to read the encyclical MIT BRENNEDER SORGE, {With Burning Anxiety}, the encyclical written to the German people about the whole NAZI question and regime. And it didn't pull any punches.
Now we get a muffled reference to events of half a millennium ago, in a university setting, discussing the latent attributes of God, known beyond and before any particular revelation on his part, and the very comment is purportedly so inflammatory, so incendiary, that Western governments across the face of the earth are demanding that he retract those governments, so as not to be "divisive."
The whole damn thing turns my stomach.
HOW IS HE TO CONVERT people to Christ, when he is himself NOT GALVINIZED by the power of Christ, when he does not possess the high courage appropriate to a Vicar of Christ. Who will be swayed towards him, who in Europe will recover their faith, if the leader of the Church is eaten away by fear, intimidation?
Peter set his face towards Rome, and thus by his deeds answered the question Que Vadis.
Oh what that Italian heroine Fallici would have made of all this?

The last sentence in one paragraph should have read, in part: "that Western Governments across the face of the earth are demanding that he retract those words,..." Not "retract those governments...."
Sorry about that.
Nonetheless, my flawed sentence is still more coherent than any retraction could possibly be on behalf of the Vatican.
How can they retract those statements? The Pope's statements are either theologically true, or they are false. Either coercion and violence are part of what God accepts from his faithful, or they are something that displeases him. And that surely is the type of issue that the Pope should speak to, with a level of confidence and competence, I would surely hope.
How the hell can he retract those comments, how can he play dumb on all of this, that he didn't mean to cause "offense." When the underlying basis for HIS comments is the GENUINE OFFENSE of coercive attempts to break the West to the heel of islam.
Good grief.

"A doctrinal conservative, his greatest fear appears to be the loss of a uniform Catholic identity, not exactly the best jumping-off point for tolerance or interfaith dialogue."
Whereas constantly stating that the West is in league with Satan is a great "jumping-off point for tolerance and interfaith dialogue."
Not to mention the constant killing of infidels.
The Muslims and Western traitors ought to apologize for their despicable behaviour. That's something we should demand.

Why is that written anonymouly? Why? I would like to know who wrote that. I would like to know what other things they have written. But,no, the New Duranty does it anonymously as they attempt to shape public opinion. From their viewpoint, the Pope is a wreckless, wrong individual. There is something very, very wrong at the New Duranty Times. I hate that paper, don't read it and trash it to everyone I meet.

Its easy to figure out:
Christianity = bad
Islam = good
The left has spent so much time denigrating Christians in America (Bible thumping, drooling hicks with fifteen kids) that they cant possibly turn back now. The Pope is simply the leader of the Bible-thumpers and that automatically makes him wrong. Did I mention President Bush is included in the group?
"Anonymous"...sure sure, if by anonymous you mean the entire staff of the NYT. Why do then even bother to thinly disguise their bias, they know that we know so why even go through the effort?
I wouldnt read the NYT with your eyes.

Discord is it?
I am so relieved...by the New Duranty Times...after all, all this time I have been thinking it was Saudi Arabian Muslims that were the ones who flew the airliners into the World Trade Towers.
I thought that that was where this 'discord' started...(among other places).
Apparently, the New Duranty Times, published in the city of three thousand deaths, has inside information.
It was not Saudi Arabian Muslims who were the killers. Rather it must have been the Society of Jesuits -- minions of the Pope -- who flew the planes into the World Trade Center.
Now it becomes all clear. The clouds are parting...the truth is revealed...I can now see the big picture...
Those clever but evil Roman Catholics...it was them all the time! I admit for a time I entertained the idea that it may have been Methodists or Presbyterians flying those planes. But I was wrong, it was Roman Catholics. Fomenting discord...it is so obvious, once it is pointed out to me.
Bad Pope, bad, bad, bad...
I am so relieved to learn it was not Muslims who fomented the discord. The Religion of Peace remains the 'religion of peace'.
Thank you, the New Duranty Times. Thank you, boot-licking 'newspaper'. Thank you, lying 'newspaper'. Thank you, bird cage lining 'newspaper'. Thank you, mouth-piece of CAIR 'newspaper'. Thank you, the New Duranty Times.

Yes, and the world listens carefully to the words of the New York Times. I want a “deep and persuasive” apology from the Times for all the pain they have sown: the multitude of anti-Israel articles they have run over the last 40 years, the paper’s deliberate concealment of the Jewish Holocaust in Europe during the 1930s, and their enthusiasm for publishing anti-Semitic editorials, ads, and cartoons.
I feel deeply offended and humiliated and absent an apology, I might be forced to take desperate measures against the Times like... like... writing a letter to the editor.

Why should the Pope apologize or side-step? What was wrong about what Emperor Manuel II said? If it is true (and it is), stand up and don't try to dodge.
Instead of apologizing or side-stepping, he should ask his Muslim critics to show him where Emperor Manuel's statement is wrong.
Evil is prideful and tries to hide behind a veneer of goodness and respectability. It does not like to be exposed for what it is. Evil finds strength in the pretence of goodness. Islam pretends to honor God. If Islam is shown to be the satanic human and God hating lie that that it is, most people will reject the evil.
Of all people the Pope should stand unflinchingly for the truth.
('cause the NY Slimes sure won't.)

Did not the NYT ever heard of the famous words of Jesus, "And the TRUTH shall set you free ". All the holy father did was speak that truth that Jesus commands Christians to do. God Bless Pope Benedict. The problem is that we have 1.5 billion people who have become with the passing of time acting more and more like little cry babies. They forget that Christians have suffered far more worse in order to get the Gospel of the good news of Jesus Christ to all four ends of the earth, and yet we get up and continue on. In a nutshell, is this islam then?:
"There is no compulsion in islam, the greatest, the most compassionate of world religions!"
"OK...can I leave islam then?"
"NO! We would kill you!"
"Why?"
"Because you would be leaving the greatest, the most compassionate of world religions."
"I see."
"We are also against violence."
"Well, what if I disagree with you? After all, you just said you'd kill me if I left islam."
"Speaking this kind of insult is wrong and hurtful, and, therefore, we would have to kill you."
"OK...anything else?"
"Yes. We are also for women's freedom."
"...ok."
"That is why they must wear this burkha."
"...isn't that unfree?"
"Didn't you heard what we said about the insults?"
"OK, OK. Anything else?"
"Yes. We love Christians and Jews."
"...right."
"We do. There are many among them that are Believers; those who think as we do. We love them."
"...so wouldn't those people actually be muslims, rather than real Christians or Jews?"
"No, the muslims would be the real Jews."
"...but they would believe as muslims."
"Yes."
"All right. What about those people in the Christian and Jewish community who don't believe as you do?"
"Oh, we hate them. They are apes and pigs. They will go to hell."
"But you just said you loved Christians and Jews."
"Yes, exactly."

Daisytoo,
The New York Times was always a liberal newspaper, but it didn't used to have this hard-Left pacifist and multicultural attitude of West bad/Third World good; Christianity bad/Islam good, War Is Bad, etc. That's because the old Sulzberger fought in World War II.
The newspaper took a very sharp turn to the Left when the new baby-boomer Sulzberger, Mr. Punch, took over. He was born in 1951, and you know the rest of the story: radicalized by the 1960's and the Vietnam War. To him, the War on Terror is Vietnam redux, Bush is Nixon redux, the Muslims are the innocent Vietnamese we bombed redux, etc.
Posted by: Steven L.
at September 16, 2006 11:02 PM
And, of course, the new baby-boomer Sulzberger does not operate in a cultural vacuum: he operates, in fact, in a warm and fuzzy cultural support-system, where most everyone in the West shares his worldview.
We are the minority. Stop kidding yourselves.

My comments in upper case in parentheses on a few gems from the CNN story "Pope to address Muslim furor":
"Outside the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta,.... organizer Heri Budianto shouted, "God is great."
"Of course as we know, the meaning of jihad can only be understood by Muslims," Budianto told the crowd. [FOR JIHAD IS SO IRRATIONAL THAT ONLY BORN LOSERS AND BRAINWASHED COWARDS CAN MAKE SENSE OF THE HATRED?]
"Only Muslims can understand what jihad is. It is impossible that jihad can be linked with violence, we Muslims have no violent character." [AND I AM PREPARED TO KILL ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH THIS?]
Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Saturday urged the pope to apologize and withdraw his controversial comments...
"The pope must not take lightly the spread of outrage that has been created," the Bernama news agency quoted Abdullah as saying, AP said. "The Vatican must now take full responsibility over the matter and carry out the necessary steps to rectify the mistake." [NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF STATING THE TRUTH ABOUT ISLAM, OTHERWISE MUSLIMS AROUND THE WORLD WILL NOT LIKE IT AND WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PREDICTABLY CERTAIN AND VIOLENT REPERCUSSIONS?]

When will they publish the New Revised Koran without such gems as:
"3.112" : Abasement is made to cleave to them (the Jews) wherever they are
found, except under a covenant with Allah and a covenant with men, and they
have become deserving of wrath from Allah, and humiliation is made to cleave
to them; this is because they disbelieved in the communications of Allah and
slew the prophets unjustly; this is because they disobeyed and exceeded the
limits.
"5.51" : O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for
friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them
for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the
unjust people.
"5.82" : Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for
those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are ΠpolytheistsΠ, and
you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to
be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and
monks among them and because they do not behave proudly.
"9.30" : And the Jews say: ΠUzairΠis the son of Allah; and the
Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of
their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may
Allah destroy them; how they are turned away! From the ΠHadithΠ, a body of
traditions relating to Mohammed and now supplemental to the Koran: He (Abu Œ
HurayahΠ) reported the messenger of Allah as saying: The last hour will not
come before the Muslims fight the Jews and the Muslims kill them, so that
Jews will hide behind stones and trees and the Stone and the tree will say,
O Muslim, O servant of God! There is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.
The only exception will be the box-thorn for it is one of the trees of the
Jews. SahihŒ of Muslim , quoted by Israel and the Prophecies of Al Œ QuranŒ
by Ali Akbar, ΠBismiΠPublishers 1992, p.44) (Palestinian Media Watch in
Israel reported in July 2001 that at least four times in recent months
Palestinian religious leaders had taught publicly that this Œ HadithŒ
(Islamic traditions attributed to Mohammed) is an authoritative directive of
Islam today, expressing Allah¹s will that obedient Muslims kill Jews). (In
the terminology of Islam, unbelievers are Jews and Christians)
4.156-158" : And for their unbelief and for their having uttered against Œ
MariumΠa grievous calumny. And their saying: Surely we have killed the
Messiah, Isa son of ΠMariumΠ, the apostle of Allah; and they did not kill
him nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them so (like Isa) and most
surely those who differ therein are only in a doubt about it; they have no
knowledge respecting it, but only follow a conjecture, and they killed him
not for sure. Nay! +Z&- Allah took him up to Himself; and Allah is Mighty,
Wise.
4.171" : O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion,
and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah,
Isa son of ΠMariumΠis only an apostle of Allah and His Word which He
communicated to ΠMariumΠand a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah
and His apostles, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is
only one God; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever
is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is
sufficient for a Protector.
"5.14" : And with those who say, We are Christians, We made a covenant, but
they neglected a portion of what they were reminded of, therefore We excited
among them enmity and hatred to the day of resurrection; and Allah will
inform them of what they did.
"5.18" : And the Jews and the Christians say: We are the sons of Allah and
His beloved ones. Say: Why does He then chastise you for your faults? Nay,
you are mortals from among those whom He has created, He forgives whom He
pleases and chastises whom He pleases; and Allah's is the kingdom of the
heavens and the earth and what is between them, and to Him is the eventual
coming.
5.51" : O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for
friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them
for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the
unjust people.
"5.69" : Surely those who believe and those who are Jews and the Œ SabiansŒ
and the Christians whoever believes in Allah and the last day and does good
they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve.
"5.72" : Certainly they disbelieve who say: Surely Allah, He is the Messiah,
son of ΠMariumΠand the Messiah said: O Children of Israel! serve Allah, my
Lord and your Lord. Surely whoever associates (others) with Allah, then
Allah has forbidden to him the garden, and his abode is the fire; and there
shall be no helpers for the unjust.
"5.73" : Certainly they disbelieve who say: Surely Allah is the third
(person) of the three; and there is no god but the one God, and if they
desist not from what they say, a painful chastisement shall befall those
among them who disbelieve.
"17.111" : And say: (All) praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son
and Who has not a partner in the kingdom, and Who has not a helper to save
Him from disgrace; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him).
18.1-5" : (All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant
and did not make in it any crookedness. Rightly directing, that he might
give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the
believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, Staying in it
for ever; And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son. They have no
knowledge of it, nor had their fathers; a grievous word it is that comes out
of their mouths;they speak nothing but a lie. .C*1
"19.88-92" : And they say: The Beneficent God has taken (to Himself) a son.
Certainly you have made an abominable assertion. The heavens may almost be
rent thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the mountains fall down in
pieces, that they ascribe a son to the Beneficent God. And it is not worthy
of the Beneficent God that He should take (to Himself) a son.

"Pope has fomented discord between Christians and Muslims"
Where that sentence says "Pope," fill in that slot with any word that refers to anything considered unIslamic. More Islamic discord has been caused by bikini contests, undiapered goats, and inappropriately arranged vegetable stands than by this Pope's factual statements and quotes.
at September 17, 2006 6:19 AM
Update: In relation to the Pope's factual statements, they have now surpassed undiapered goat rage and inappropriately-arranged vegetables rage, and may soon produce a death toll reaching that of bikini rage.

Archimedes:
RE undiapered goats, all I can say is that one can hardly resist the temptation of mounting a goat without such protections. Isn't that plainly obvious?
RE celery stalks, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples, onions and other such fruits and vegetables are quite obviously suggestive in the minds of others when placed in certain ways. Imagine a goat (diapered or otherwise) near the suggestive display. No goat can escape untouched after a man sees the misplaced display of legumes. Note that under the previous Ayatollah’s ruling, so long as the man mounting the goat has not ejaculated, he need not be killed. However, if the relations with the goat led to worldly pleasure, then surely he has spilled his 'precious' seed. I think you know the punishment. One guilty Sudanese man (I am unsure if he was a Moslem or not) was forced to marry the goat with which he had had relations.

What they said in their editorial was similiar to about 90% of the editorials world wide. No matter what you think about them, they have much better reporters and are more literate that any right wing rag like the NY Post or Wash. Times.
