Cathy Young, useful idiot

Someone is asleep at the switch over at CAIR. You'd think with all their money, they'd be able to hire some help to monitor the foes of jihad more closely, but for some reason only yesterday (thanks to D. C. Watson for the heads-up) did CAIR get around to noticing Boston Globe writer Cathy Young's three-month-old hit piece in Prejudice magazine (aka Reason magazine) on Jihad Watch and Hugh Fitzgerald (as well as Little Green Footballs and Michelle Malkin).

CAIR, of course, did not inform its minions that I replied to Cathy Young and had an exchange with her. Unlike some others, we believe in free speech, and so you can find links to all of Cathy Young's original pieces, as well as my replies, here, here, and here.

I suppose Cathy Young is proud of herself today, as her work has proven so useful to a group of which several members have been arrested and convicted of various terrorism-related activities, and which no longer contests Anti-CAIR's characterization of it as a "terrorist supporting front organization" that "wishes nothing more than the implementation of Sharia law in America" and was "founded by Hamas supporters which [seek] to overthrow Constitutional government in the United States and replace it with an Islamist theocracy using our own Constitution as protection."

What's more, for all of CAIR's professed anti-terrorism, it has never answered lingering questions about where it really stands in relation to jihadist activity, and has trumped up anti-Muslim hate crimes, apparently in order to manipulate American public opinion.

Brava, Cathy. You are proving to be very useful.

Are you certain about the "useful" part?

She thinks Islam is not so bad?
For that we can berate her.
I know she is a silly gad,
But still it's hard to hate her.

I just hope that some Muslim cad
Does not try to aerate her,
Or pry her Reason from her head
With a big sharp serrator.

I have had a great interest in Hugh's exchanges with Cathy Young, as I've read Reason magazine almost since it's inception. As a life-long libertarian, it saddenes me to see the general libertarian "pc" attitude toward the threat of Islamic violence.

But I do not understand willful ignorance of danger to one's life, one's loved ones, and one's civilization.

In fact, I would probably be accused of not being a "real" libertarian at this point. Sigh...

Vee - I share some beliefs with the "real libertarians", but refuse to let orthodoxy (of any kind) restrict me. For example, many of their beliefs about the need for borders are a deal-breaker. If forced to define myself, I guess I would highlight my reverence for the U.S. Constitutiion viewed from a "strict constructionist" perspective. As little government as possible.

Inasmuch as Islam incorporates first-degree murder into its core doctrine this dopey broad, Ms. Young, might take into consideration that she is in fact an accessory to multiple homicides by enabling Islam as she clearly is aware she is doing.

The day will come when this wench is held accountable. Some Muslims may decide to off her, in fact. Muslims have no use for non-Muslims and her life means nothing to them--even if she tries to show them favoritism.

I pick up "Reason" periodically. You'll be glad to know that there is a long and erudite letter in the October issue defending Robert Spencer and JW. (I don't have the issue in front of me, or I'd tell you the name of the writer).

Most posters here will not learn anything new from this letter, but I hope that some of Reason's readers who may be either unfamiliar with JW, or know it only from Cathy Young's distortions, will be curious enough to check out the site.
