Bad dhimmi! How dare John Reid suggest that Muslims take some responsibility for violence committed in the name of Islam! What is he, some kind of Islamophobe?

The Home Secretary has urged Muslim parents to watch out for signs that their children are being groomed to become suicide bombers. John Reid told them they must regard their youngsters as potential recruits for firebrand preachers.His extraordinary comments came in a speech to a specially invited Muslim audience at an east London location which was kept secret for security reasons. "There is no nice way of saying this," he said in a passage warning about the danger from extremist clerics.
"These fanatics are looking to groom and brainwash children for suicide bombing, to kill themselves in order to murder others. Look for the tell-tale signs now and talk to them before their hatred grows and you risk losing them forever. In protecting our families we are protecting our community."
His remarks were condemned by some Muslim leaders, who accused him of wanting parents to spy on their sons. Ahmed Versi, editor of the Muslim News, criticised Mr Reid, saying he was asking parents to inform on their children and implying that all Muslims were potential terrorists. It would generate a "new climate of fear" against Muslims, he said.But meeting a 60-strong audience, hand-picked from London's Pakistani, Bangladeshi and north African communities, Mr Reid will suggest that some Muslim families turn a blind eye to danger signs. "I know it's not easy," he said. "I'm a parent of two boys and I know how hard it is to raise children and to know everything about them. "And I know how hard it is, sometimes, to see what is in front of our eyes - particularly when it is something that we do not agree with.
"But there are some circumstances when we need to intervene; when we need to challenge or confront their behaviour in order to protect them from others and to protect them from harm."

I was not pleased as this story unfolded during the day. The good thing, of course, is that the more this happens, and is so widely reported then the easier it is to talk to people in the manner advised by Hugh yesterday.

What a funny speech by Reid!
Bringing up kids is so difficult these days. They get into trouble with school, they get into drugs and spray paint walls. They drink too much and hang about with the opposite sex.
If you are a Moslem teen, however, none of that is allowed and so you develop an unhealthy interest in a 7th century desert bandit, beards, headscarves, beheadings through history, rucksacks, chemistry and flying.
And the Moslems in the audience asked him what signs to look for! As if they didn't know.

I have to admit that it is nauseating to see such a fine Cathedral flanked by those fortresses of Allah.
Peterborough or at least large parts of it maybe too far gone to save.
Are you close to any of the Muslim hotspots?

Is that true about the Cathedral? Thats a real shame if it is.
I know there has been Jihad inspired murder, a few years back a young lad (white) was beaten to death by a group of RoPers.
It occured close to Gladstone street, it was a very savage unprovoked beating. It happened late at night as he walked a girl he worked with at a bar home.
Thats how I remember the incident, I would really like to be able to track down a link to the story. If anyone has any details could they post them here.

KM - Ross Parker, aged 17, was murdered in a "race inspired attack" as he walked his girlfriend home after working a shift at the Solstice public house bar. Ross was stabbed with a 12" long knife, beaten with a hammer and kicked. Four moslem men were charged and 3 were eventually convicted, with the longest sentence 18 years and the shortest 16. The murder occurred on Sept 21, 2001 ten days after the WTC attack.

Outbid Allah! Genius idea Fred - I think you're reaching directly into the heart of the matter. In the West crime does not pay (well, in the long run it doesn't :) ). But in Islam-world, it sure does. As long as someone can cough up the dough, they can pay blood money for criminal acts. I was asked recently by an acquaintance if abortion was against Islamic law. I thought abortion was permitted but thought I'd double check. I went to Islam online and learned that "abortion is Completely Prohibited by Islam". Okay, so I was wrong, right? Wrong. Next sentence goes on to say, abortion is permissible up until 120 days into pregnancy. hmmmm .. and then it gets completely weasly .. with appropriate amounts of money to be paid if you want to get around this 'complete prohibition'. Yuck.
But Outbid Allah - boy, that's meeting them where they live!!!

I do remember the Ross Parker death in 2001. Gladstone Street is the centre of Peterstan and there are regular 'disputes' that are reported as... "racist thugs in unprovoked attack on asian taxi driver"...if the Pakistanis lose. If the Pakistanis beat up a white man it is reported as..."a group of males in scuffle".
Luckily most citizens are savy enough to read between the lines and, because of the large number of east Europeans who have recently arrived we feel a bit safer. The Poles, Latvians and Lithuanians have obviously not yet been re-educated in political correctness!
