Pakistan: Teenage Christian jailed for blasphemy

More depredations of Pakistan's blasphemy laws. From Compass Direct:

A Pakistani Christian jailed last week on suspicion of ripping book pages containing Quranic verses appealed to Punjabi police through his lawyer yesterday (September 21) for his case to be cancelled for lack of evidence.

Lawyer Khalil Tahir Sindhu asked Faisalabad city police to throw out the case against his client, Shahid Masih. According to Sindhu, the sole evidence against the young Christian was the testimony of a Muslim man previously accused of the same crime.

Masih, 17, is implicated for breaking article 295-B of the Pakistan Penal Code, one of the country’s notorious blasphemy laws that criminalizes desecration of the Quran.

If convicted, Masih will serve a life sentence.

The young man allegedly tore pages from a tafseer, a book explaining Quranic verses, while stealing several books from a medical clinic in the Madina Town district of Faisalabad last week.

The charges are based on the testimony of Muhammad Ghaffar, who claimed he had carried out the crime with Masih.

Ghaffar was detained after Dr. Mohammad Arshed Masood arrived at his Madina Town clinic on September 10 to find several books missing and pages ripped from his tafseer, lawyer Sindhu said.

The doctor lodged a complaint with police against Ghaffar, 19, who he suspected of committing the robbery. According to Sindhu, Ghaffar told police that he and Masih had ripped pages from the tafseer when the two broke into the clinic planning to steal and then resell books.

Both suspects are being held in Faisalabad’s District Jail while police conclude their investigation.

Damn I loathe Muslims and the injustices large and small they inflict on people on a daily basis.I hate unjust crap like the Pakistani rape and Blasphemy laws. Crap like this case makes me want to go stomp on a Quran right about now and rip it in half and fling the pieces all over the street. Damn that filthy, evil book and the human dreak that inflict the vile fruit of it's lies on humanity.

I am familiar with Ibn Kathir and his commentaries, he is just another venom filled Mohammedian. His Tafsir is another tedious excercise in hate and subliterate obscurantism. This kid is totally innocent, but trashing Ibn Kathir's vile Tafsir and the Quran is a decent act of love for humankind.

Geez. Don't the Pakistani authorities have any more serious offences to pursue than than an allegation that a teenager tore pages from a Koran... ...like maybe cracking down on jihad recruiting maddrasah operators, arms smugglers aiding and abetting the Taliban, etc.?

The doctor is pissed at him, so he invokes something he knows will get the attention of The Church Police.

Sounds like there's more to it to me. Sounds like the doctor had an axe to grind.

Dubya's friends-and-family alert:

Transfering untold military aid (to be used against Infedel India) and billions of tax-payer's hard-earned dollars (to be used against local non-muslim minority) to Pakistan, Dubya once again actively supports the mother of international terror. Ofcourse, one can argue that Dubya also supports wahabbis in Saudi Arabia...... and that White House does not know how the aid is used or has no 'imagination' how aid 'can be used'. These again are arguements 'against', not 'for' Dubya. strengthening the original arguement that Dubya and his chronies are a part of the problem, not the solution.

Americans need to realize, and take appropriate action, where the buck stops.

We should jail all Muslims who profanate our countries by building mosques.

Calling people to worship towards Mecca is blasphemy, as if a black stone would be God.

Only in Islamic countries are members of a religion prosecuted for 'blaspheming' a religion that isn't theirs. If I was a Christian, and stated my doubts about Christ, I'd be blaspheming. As a non-Christian, since I don't follow Christ at all, I'm not guilty of it.

Of course, in the ummah, when did that stop anyone?

Why the hell doesn't our terminally effete Archbishop of Canterbury ever raise his voice about this continuous persecution of Christians minorities by Muslims?

Wow-"only" a life sentence and not something quaint like being stoned to death? This must qualify as some sort of Muslim reform!

So, the prophet of Islam was a sex pervert of the worst kind, he was a child rapist and that is the lowest of the low and the bleedin' Islamic Pakis go and jail people who are falsely accused of insulting Islam. Islam is un-insultable, it is a monstrous perversion of a religion, it is horrible, it stinks and it is an anathema to civilisation, Islam is a turd on the face of the Earth, it is a putrid sore on the bum of civilisation, Islam is rotten to the core.

I have never thought of tearing up the Koran and using the pages for whatever, or throwing the pages around the room. None is available for easy access.

I don't own a copy of the Koran. I would not allow it in the house. I have a statue of an owl, but I don't allow that in the house either. It stays outside.

Some things are verboten. While I do not have a holy house, I have a clean house. I have wine, whiskey, sometimes beer, home movies, video tapes, LP records, cassette tapes, sometimes naked women.

But a Koran, no, I am not allowed to defile my house. It is against my religion. If I had a copy, it would have to be, at best, kept outside in the shed. But then I would be bothered, as I would know it was out there, still on my property. So, no, no Koran for me.

PS: I was just about to post this when I remembered one other thing. I have Big Dog, he lives in the house with me. He's a Sweetie Boy...he loves small children and little babies, he will guard them with his doggie life. And when he hears a siren of a police car or ambulance, he starts to 'sing' acapella (he's 1/2 Siberian Husky). So I have Dog music, too.

I have a Quran at home for research purposes ONLY. I always notice that when I randomly open it, inevitably I land on a verse that PERSONALLY INSULTS ME! Feh!

Once again, sharia justice on display for all to see. Rapists and murderers get off scott free, or at worst, with a slap on the wrist. Someone tears the pages out of some stupid worthless book, which is not even the Quran, and they face a life sentence. Remember the Imam a few months back who put large sums of money on the heads of the Danish Cartoonists? He did it in public, no lack of evidence, and yet no charges came against him. In Indonesia, Abu Bakr serves months in prison for masterminding the death of hundreds of innocents. Several days ago, three Christians were put to death for "inciting hatred" against muslims. This is sharia "justice." This is islam.
