A typically sophisticated comment from Salman Rushdie, but give him credit for anti-dhimmitude. After all, he has already rung the bell on the Islamic rage meter. "Britain: Salman Rushdie Says 'Veils Suck,'" from AKI, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
London, 10 Oct. (AKI) - Indian-born Muslim author Salman Rushdie on Tuesday weighed into a recent controversy over the veil in Britain, saying in his view "veils suck." In an interview with the popular BBC Radio 4's Today programme , Rushied stated: "I think the battle against the veil has been a long and continuing battle against the limitation of women, so in that sense I'm completely on [Straw's] side." He was referring to House of Commons leader Jack Straw's revelation last week that he asked Muslim women visiting his constituency surgery to remove their veils as he believed this was helpful to race relations and Muslim integration - comments that sparked anger from many Muslims."He was expressing an important opinion, which is that veils suck, which they do. I think the veil is a way of taking power away from women," said Rushdie. "Speaking as somebody with three sisters and a very largely female Muslim family, there's not a single woman I know in my family or in their friends who would have accepted wearing the veil," he added.

I love this guy. Despite all the crap he's been through he still sticks it to the idiots and refuses to go away. By now he must be the most hated person in Islamania, even more than Bush or those evil Zionists. I hope this man lives a long long time and keeps on sticking it to them

Not the most sophisticated language for making his point but right on target! Actually, he probably chose this blunt expression precisely so the point would resonate with younger Muslims! Rushdie is a real hero in the struggle.

It's really a pity Muslim men can't live as Muslim women for a month. Something tells me if that happened Islam was disappear overnight.

Having seen a picture of Rushdie's wife, who is drop dead gorgeous, I can see why he wouldn't want her going about town in a hefty bag.

He is right, the veil is one way of taking power away from women, of course women are to have no power in islam anyhow. The veil is just one more way to put the blame on someone else because they have zero self control and believe that "allah" has given them everything for their enjoyment and the mere sight of a lock of female hair or a female face turns them into quivering masses of drooling hormones. So instead of learning to behave like a civilized human, they throw tarps over their women and even diaper their livestock...never ever the muslim male's fault.

Think about it. A muzlim man gets to have four wives. Ok, let's imagine a young muzlim man that has married only one wife and now has six or seven kids by her. Probably the wife isn't quite so svelte anymore. Well, he's got three more wives to go. Now, imagine if the muzlim hotties went around in public flaunting their wares. For our hitherto monogamous muzlim, getting wife number two wouldn't be something in the background of his thoughts, an idle koranic fantasy; it would be an obsession.
You see where I'm going? There's a muzlim logic to this.

There is a logic to this.
1. Muslim gets the hots and rips off the veil.
A. Finds beautiful woman and is in lust.
B. Finds no beautiful woman and is mad.
(either way she is subject to unwanted attack)
2. Muslim woman willingly wears a Burka.
A. Needs a shave.
B. Is a transexual.
C. Is carrying a weapon
And so it goes in Muslimville.
God willing, of course.

Islamforlosers, when (if) the muslim males changed places with the muslim women, their circumcision needs to be more like a clitoredectomy....where it's pulled out at the root.

Islam segregates the sexes and depersonalizes women by putting them in Darth Vadar costumes. It then insists that sexual expression, alcohol or enjoyment of any kind is wicked (in this life) but you can get it all as pie in the sky if only you are willing to self-destruct by killing as many infidels in battle as you can. That's one way you cant divert men's energies into the service of building an empire.
So far it hasn't entirely successful in the West. The 2nd generation Muslim gangs I encounter around here are entranced by all things Western. They want the gadgets, the cars, the music, the alcohol and drugs and most of all they hanker after sex. Much the same as their white counterparts with the notable exception that Muslim girls seen among them. So they lust after white girls whom they also denounce as "sluts". I presume this is because they're also experiencing a strong influence from the retrograde culture of an Islam which is obsessed with virgins and honour. The girls are required to be meek while the males are pampered, narcissistic and devoid of self-control.
Something has to give for these Muslim youths. Either they apostate and join the Western world - which I think is unlikely because that requires a degree of insight and free thinking which Muslims have never been taught to value. Or more likely they will retreat into the dark, repressive resentment and self-righteousness anger of Islam. Which is what seems to be happening more and more.

Rushdie at least knows where he stands.
Unfortunately the practice of putting veils to women is growing in Muslim societies.
Some mothers who had never worn the veil now see their daughters wearing it.
It's all Saudi money, it all begins with those islamic schools and "properly-tained" imams.

The British government allowed rabid islamic clerics to flourish and did nothing to stop their radicalization of an entire generation. There will be hell to pay for this insanity, but I guess everyone already knows that. It's happening in the US too; they're not as brazen as the street preachers in London but they are every bit as treacherous behind closed doors.
Houses of worship, which until recently consisted mainly of churches and synagogues, have always enjoyed a sort of sanctuary status, their congregations and clergy free to come and go with little interest and never any interference. Islam's temples of hate are sanctuaries, but they are also indoctrination centers and meeting halls for jihadists and fifth columnists; weapons armories; terrorist hideouts. They should all be wired, their phones tapped, and have spies planted in their congregations.
The only way to stop jihad in its tracks is to silence the people who teach and encourage it---the islamic clergy. But oh no, we cannot interfere in anyone's religious practices, even if they include plotting our demise. When will the obdurate, obtuse, multiculturalist elitist politicians swallow their pride and admit that their social experiments have been a dismal failure? When half of us are dead?

The best term for the male muslim condition that I have heard is,
"Sexual incontinence"
Little wonder that they must avoid all encounters in the street...but when they get home those multiple wives better be ready!

I suspect that the Islamic "reasoning" such as it is behind veiling is precisely so as to avoid other males covetting your property and potentially seizing it on some convenient pretext. Rushdie, obviously, doesn't subscribe to that primitive mindset.
What is much more curious are Muslim women living in the west who accept veiling. I give a lot of credence to the line of thought that the wearing of garb that is totally incongruous with such practical concerns as climate, workplace safety and public safety is a tacit declaration of separateness/societal rejection and has nothing to do with any genuine sense of modesty or piety.

Certainly not modesty. Modesty is connected with humility and the arrogance defiance with which the veil is worn is totally inmodest.
There is nothing more obscene in my eyes than the shameless display of piety and self-righteousness of the Muslims. If somebody is truly pious, let him or her be it in secret, not showing it off in front of the others.
