Hamas: we thought they would all play the dhimmi

Hamas is shocked! -- shocked! -- that anyone opposes their nifty family-friendly program of murder. After all, even mom and sis and the kids can join in. "Hamas 'shocked' by global opposition," by Nidal al-Mughrabi for Reuters, with thanks to Doc Washburn:

GAZA (Reuters) - Hamas, the Islamist group that runs the Palestinian government, said on Thursday it could never have imagined the vast international pressure it would come under after winning democratic elections earlier this year.

In a candid article published in the Palestinian press, Ahmed Youssef, a political adviser to Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader, said the group had been shocked by the strength of opposition to its electoral victory.

"It went beyond all imagination," wrote Youssef.

"The government ... did not expect the pressures and the siege imposed on our people would be so harsh, so strong and so large in scale."

Youssef's is the latest in a series of articles by Hamas officials in recent weeks either seeking to explain themselves or calling on the Palestinian community to refrain from violence and think more carefully about how it opposes Israel.

Hamas, a staunchly religious and militant movement, won a surprise victory in elections in January, defeating the long-dominant Fatah movement, a more moderate and secular party headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas....

"Staunchly religious." Of course there is nothing in this Reuters article about Hamas' "glory record" of murders of Israeli civilians.

Given how willing the West has been to grovel before the Jihadists on a variety of issues, I'd say I share Hamas' surprise - although not in the way they'd desire.

In the meantime, has Israel given up on the captured soldiers? Haven't heard about them for a while - but then again, I haven't been reading the Jerusalem Post of late.

I think that Hamas's victorious outcome in the Palestinian election is actually beneficial to Israel, as Hamas's overt, uncompromising hostility has caused it financial hardship. Had the election outcome favored Abbas's faction instead of Hamas, the USA and the EU (and, probably, Israel itself, sadly) would still be pouring millions in aid to the Palestinian Authority, in the delusional and futile hope that Abbas would be a legitimate "peace partner." The brutal candor of Hamas as to how it views Israel, and what its objectives are concerning the Zionist enemy, will, hopefully, serve as a rude awakening for those who entertain any illusions of peace with these genocidally inclined Palestinians.

The Hamas election reinforces my belief in the bad outcome that can happen when an illiterate, ignorant electorate casts ballots in great numbers. In the US I want people who are "tuned in" to vote, not the indiots who are rounded up with party sponsored vans and led to the polls like sheep. If a voter cannot name both their Senators, their Representative, and at least two cabinet officers, or pass a similar test, I do not want them in the voting booth.

Poor Hamas. If it isn't those awful Zionists trying to exterminate them all it's P.R. problems. When will Allah give these poor victims a break?

I thought the whole Palestinian election was pretty funny anyway. The average "victim" had to choose between the old corrupt PLO and the new and improved new corrupt Hamas. Some choice. But then again, one can't blame the voters. They had no time to bone up on the candidates, what with making molotov cocktails and screeching about being oppressed victims and such.

Hamas, PLO, Hezbollah-what's the difference anyway? They all need to be wiped out like the lethal microbes they resemble.

how about all the murders and massacres perpetrated by the allegedly "more moderate and secular" Fatah party of Holocaust denier, Mahmud Abbas?

"More moderate" is indeed appropriate since "moderation" is relative. Moderate mass murderers versus extremist mass murderers. Actually, Fatah were pioneers on the world stage in regard to jihad mass murder. Bear in mind that Fatah's founder, yasser a., grew up in the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. Fatah too very much operates according to Islamic conceptions.
