The Washington-DC based human rights group, International Christian Concern (ICC) www.persecution.org has just been informed that on July 20, 7 Muslim leaders (clerics) brutally attacked 50 or more Christians in Henno, Ethiopia. This latest attack is just one example of the increasing violence against Christians in Ethiopia. In fact, Islamic leaders are urging Muslims in the area to kill full-time Christian evangelists. The situation has reached such intensity that Christian leaders are in fear and moving in pairs to ward off attacks. Local Muslim authorities failed to take action against the Muslim attackers.Henno is located in the district of Kokosa of the Oromia region, 404 kilometers South of Addis Ababa. In 2005, two prominent Muslims in Henno converted to Christianity: "H," a well known Muslim leader, and "M," the son of a well-respected Muslim tribal leader. The two conversions angered Muslim leaders in the surrounding region. On July 20, 2006, "M" hosted a worship service for the other Christians in Henno and invited a choir from the Sidama region.
The worship service gained the attention of the whole village, including Muslim leaders who responded violently by instigating a riot, using gangs in the area. The gangs were carrying local weapons such as knives, stones, and metal rods.
The Muslim leaders demanded the expulsion of the choir from the area. The new believer and former Muslim leader, "H," refused to stop the service despite their pressure. Consequently, the crowd began to beat "H" and other Christians in the house with their weapons.
"H" was beaten badly, receiving five deep wounds to his head. Because he was beaten with an iron rod, he was also missing teeth. He suffered deep lacerations to his legs, where several ligaments protruded from the skin. "H's" daughter-in-law was pregnant at the time but lost her baby because she was also severely beaten.
In total, twelve people were seriously injured; five others were found to have lacerations on their body and received medical treatment in Shashamene Kuyera Hospital. "H" also received care and has recovered from the attack.
The Christians reported the riot to the district government administrative office, which took no legal action. Instead, the officers warned Christians not to worship in a region that is predominately Muslim. It is important to note that all officers who heard the case were in fact Muslim. The case was then taken to a higher police authority. The police responded by arresting 26 gang members. However, they were released quickly because tribal elders appealed to the government....

About time the christian states of the world started to see the size and danger of the problem and started a NEW crusade but this time to FREE the world from these parasites and for once and for all.

Ethiopia plays a special role, as a Christian kingdom, in both the history of Islam and the history of Christianity. Because of an event that supposedly took place during Muhammad's lifetime, when many dozens of his followers found refuge from enemies in Ethiopia, a refuge freely offreed by the Negus, Ethiopia was given a special status in Islam, and for many centuries was, supposedly, therefore not the object of Muslim attack. Whether or not that was observed or honored in the breached is unclear. Certainly Arab slavers worked to the north in what is now the Sudan, to the west in the Congo (Tippoo Tib was not the only Muslim slavers about whom Stanley and Livingston presumed), and to the south -- Pemba and Zanzibar being under the control of the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, for centuries, and used as a holding pen for black slaves then later brought by dhow to the Arab and Ottoman slave markets). And certainly Arab Muslims conducted Da'wa -- through violence as well as missionary work -- on the Horn of Africa (see Somalia, see Eritrea). And now it is clear that since Muslims have the way, they certainly have the will to boldly go after the Christian Kingdom of Ethiopia, conducting campaigns of Da'wa and intimidation deep within Ethiopia -- all you have to do is find and debrief any number of Christian Ethiopian students in this country. They will set you right.
In the history of Western Christendom, the role of the Christian Kingdom of Ethiopia is also as singular. If in Islam a special pass was, for some time, honored in regard to Christian Ethiopia, which might explain its continued existence as an independent Christian kingdom, in Christian Europe, imperilled by Islam, constantly under assault, sometimes by Arab armies both East (Spain and into France) and West (Byzantium, and much of southeastern and central Europe, as far north as Hungary), and under constant assault by Muslim raidrs up and down the coasts of Italy and France and all the way to England, Ireland, even on one famous occasion to Iceland, destroying villages, killing many, and kidnapping and then enslaving others -- men, women, and children -- who were then brought back to Muslim lands, there to work as slaves, and to be islamized, and to have their own pasts erased.
In this, hope was needed, and hope arose in the form of a myth: the myth of a powerful Christian kingdom, ruled by a benign and powerful Chrstian king, Prester John. And where was this powerful Kingdom of Prester John? It was far away, on the other side of the lands seized by, and now ruled by, Muslims. It was a distant, yet powerful dream-ally, comforting to the imagination of fearful Christians. At first their imagination placed the Kingdom of Prester John in distant India. Later, in an act of geopolitical remue-menages (and remue-meninges, to quote the only memorable pun Jack Lang ever made)-- the Allied-Van-Lines of the European imagination transferred the Kingdom of Prester John, in its imaginary location, to Ethiopia. Fear-inducing Islam prompted the necessary comforting myth. The European mind did the necessary lifting, moving the whole kingdom several thousand miles from India to East Africa. Quite a feat.
Look into Ethiopia. See why the American government, instead of wasting so much in Iraq, ought to be helping the Christian government to maintain itself, and to campaign against, to shut down wherever possible, the campaigns of Da'wa being ceaselessly conducted within the borders of Ethiopia. And if the American government actually had a clever grasp of things, it would right now be stationing troops, and giving money, to the Ethiopians, as it should to black African Christians everywhere, so that they can combat the instruments of Jihad --- including all those Saudi-built and Saudi-maintained mosques transforming the syncretistic, easygoing Islam of the marabouts of West Africa as well (see the horrifying transformation of Islam taking place in Niger; try to get bigshots to pay more attention to that, and a bit less attention to the entirely trivial and uninteresting saga of the trivial and uninteresting Joseph Wilson et ux.).
Study up on Ethiopia and how an American force in southern and eastern Sudan, there to "rescue the people of Darfur," would do so much to draw attention to the Arab Muslim aggression against black Africans, whether Christians and animists, or non-Arab and, therefore, in the eyes of Arabs expendable because inferior Muslims), and do much to raise the morale of black African Christians, or Hamitic ones -- in the once and possibly future Kingdom of Prester John.
You will discover that there is more to learn about Ethiopia than tips on collecting Ethiopian Coptic textiles, the brouhaha over obelisk taken from Axum to Rome, the precise place from which f Pushkin's ancestor likely came, Father Ludolf, Johnson's "Rasselas," and Ryszard Kapuscinski's book on Haile Selassie, and of course those who, in Marcus-Garvey fashion, saw in Selassie, Ras Tafari, the leader of that cult. or possibly religion (what's the difference? who decides?) of Rastafarians who, as Robert Lowell once wrote, comb marijuana out of their hair.

It's interesting that the attacks follow the Evangelization of a Muslim minority group. My guess is that M and H were persuaded by argument and the Spirit of God; while the Muslims retaliate with attacks. It all goes to show that Islam has neither argument nor the Spirit of God.

Ethiopia is also standing as a buffer to the islamic courts in somalia. They are surrounded by muslims and we all know what that will mean.

No, Kenya isn't Muslim, and South Sudan, which borders Ethiopia to the west, is a battleground between Muslims and Christians/Animists. Given that, Ethiopia doesn't face a military threat from Sudan in the same way it does from Somalia.
They do need to be supported as Hugh mentions above, particularly viz Egypt re: the Nile waters.

Infidel Pride, I was not very clear. I was not implying they were physically surrounded just pointing out the neighboring countries also have a problem with radical muslims, Kenya included. The threat to Ethiopia could come from any direction, they know it and will meet it, hopefully, with our help and support.

Time to arm those Ethiopians and fast. Otherwise we will see a speech at the UN similar to the one Haile Selassie delivered to the League of Nations some 70 years ago when Mussolini attacked.

Actually the Muslims didn't honor that truce and in Futuh ul Habasha, the killing and the systematic bloodletting waged on Ethiopia by bloodthirsty Ahmed Gragn are carefully recorded by himself in a way that cannot be refuted.

I have a young Ethiopian friend who told me the horror stories that her country has had to endure at the hands of the mubots for over 1500 years. People from her part of the world find great surprise that we are just barely waking up to the threat.
Ehtiopia does NOT wish to be assimilated by the MORG! I agree, lets arm them and if need be bomb their enemies for them.

An Encouraging Note
In the following weeks, many Muslims denounced the actions taken against the Christians. To express their disgust, Muslims refused to go to Mosques. In fact, forty-seven key leaders became Christians and renounced Islam stating, "If Islam means killing innocent brothers and sisters -- we do not want to follow it!"
..
Through those muslim leaders, islam has exposed its true self, and now Ethiopian muslims are choosing for Christ because of that.
I can only say; praise the Lord!
