UK: Veiled Muslim stopped from boarding a bus

"What are we supposed to do? What is the point of a pass if you can't see someone's face?" Indeed. Anti-dhimmitude in Britain: "Veiled Muslim stopped from boarding a bus," by James Ferguson and Alan Salter in the Manchester Evening News, with thanks to Davida:

A MUSLIM woman was prevented from getting on a bus in Greater Manchester because she would not remove her veil.

The 22-year-old Manchester University student from Oldham says other passengers laughed when the driver refused to let her on because he could not check her identity with her bus pass.

Now the driver's bosses at First Manchester are to meet with their trade association, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT), to seek advice on how to deal with the problem if other passengers with photo passes refuse to lift their veils.

They say they have received no complaint from the woman and have been unable to track down the driver concerned.

The student, who didn't want to be named, tried to board the 59 bus to Oldham.

She said: "The driver asked to see my pass, but it has my photo on and he couldn't see my face.

"I told him I would not remove my veil and he said I couldn't get on."

She is now offering to help the company draw up guidance to drivers.

Situation

She said: "It is understandable because the driver has his duty, although he said it in quite a rude manner. It wasn't nice and other passengers were laughing.

"Bus drivers should be told how to deal with this situation. The veil is my choice and my religious duty. I am willing to go in and help the company so everyone knows what to do."

A First Manchester spokesman said: "We have investigated this incident thoroughly but found no complaint on our system.

"A women has now identified herself as the person in this situation. However, an official complaint was not registered. Under regulations passengers are required to confirm their identity if using a photo bus pass.

"If passengers aren't able to do this they will still be able to travel by paying for their trip."

A CPT spokesman said: "We have not heard of this happening before and as our meeting with First has not been held yet, we can't really talk about it."

One bus driver at Oldham bus station, who didn't want to be named, said: "What are we supposed to do? What is the point of a pass if you can't see someone's face?

"It hasn't happened to me yet but nobody has told me what I should do if it does."

Time to start up a Muslim bus company. Anybody got some camels they're willing to sell for this venture?

"If passengers aren't able to do this they will still be able to travel by paying for their trip."
-- from the article above

But it is more than a question of payment. In the current, and from here on out future environment, non-Muslims should not be expected to endure the anxiety of travelling on busses, or subways, or any form of public transportation, with Muslims whose faces and identities are hidden from view. That is likely to cause anxiousness which, of course, can have a direct effect, immediate or long-term, on the health of those suffering from certain kinds of ailments. How much anxiety should Muslims be allowed to produce in non-Muslim lands, on their non-Muslim citizens?

The ideal toward which one should aim is: None.

I don't blame the bus driver.

Usually, when muslims get on buses, they tend to explode. I wouldn't want to ride a bus with a burka clad jihadi either.

Keep the veil: it identifies the enemy (islam and the muslims that spread it.)

"I am willing to go in and help the company so everyone knows what to do"

The company doesn't need help, dear. You do.

Maybe those riding the buses should get off if a covered muslim gets on. Driver too. Let the bus sit until the muslims get off. If I won't fly with muslims, I sure wouldn't get on a bus with them.

This chip idea is intriguing. However, the Koran MUST be consulted to see if it is OK. After all, it supposedly has all answers for all problems.

"Feingold" is a Muslim troll whose name is Javed. His game is an obvious one. He puts up crazed items in order to blacken the reputation of the site. He has been kept on, only temporarily, and only for informational purposes -- both those that may be obvious, and those that are not. But now the game is over, and it is time to remove Javed's posts, though no doubt he will try again, under other names from other places, and again information will be collected.

And the UK let in another 11,000 asylum seekers last year. When will it end?

The bbc must be seething over the injustice of this targeted young woman. How can one have a picture id with a hijab on? Can I put a paper bag with two holes for my eyes over my head and get a picture id? She must have had to have her hijab off for a pic.id.(ghasp!)A micro chip at the top of her hand and any on else who's identity is concealed could be scanned, and there you go.

The 22-year-old Manchester University student from Oldham says other passengers laughed when the driver refused to let her on because he could not check her identity with her bus pass.

(imagine James Alexander Gordon's voice):

Merrie England 1, Miserable Wingeing Invading Islamic Horde 0

Oh I wish I'd been there laughing at that Muslim too. All harmless fun, of course, but also, of course, Islam doesn't get it. I bet the bus driver did a bit of a routine to a lot of aye-ing in the back.

Good bunch the Greater Manchester Bus Drivers. They once let me into the Bolton Depot Bar after the doorman asked what route I was on, and I said 66.

For a start having people walk about with their faces covered is a threat to national security, whether they be teenage thugs or muslim women following their religious duty.It is fact that peolple cover their faces to commit crime.

What about our proud British Suffrage movement, who fought with their lives to ensure that woman could walk about free from such oppressive garb.

However there are few people left in this country that actually believe in British values or care about British history.

Posted by: raz [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 1:11 PM

So someone from KKK can ride the bus with his hood on too, as long as buys a cash ticket?

Will the other passengers laugh?

Posted by: Vagn Henning [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 1:30 PM

"I am willing to go in and help the company so everyone knows what to do."

Ah - but the bus company does, indeed, know what to do. They have already so illustrated.

Perhaps the bus company could show this individual what to do?

The bus compnay policy is correct. The woman who refused to show her face so that her identity could be verified was just lain wrong. Covering ones face in public is not acceptabe in western societies.

Posted by: PineCone [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 2:34 PM

In the West, in CIVILIZATION a human being completely swathed in voluminous cloth and made shapeless, sexless and faceless is a TERRIFYING, discomfiting, and inhuman apparition.

A person WITHOUT A FACE is bizarre and psychologically threatening, the stuff of nightmare. The sight inspires instant gut-deep loathing in me. It spooks and frightens even children. It betrays the very social contract, of 'existing' to each other as humans. To 'withhold' one's very face from the world is in and of itself SINISTER.

"The 22-year-old Manchester University student from Oldham says other passengers laughed when the driver refused to let her on because he could not check her identity with her bus pass."

Finally, some sign of life among the British!

Posted by: remote_control [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 3:21 PM

remote control - the signs of life you see are from working-class people, who often show more common sense than the one who can afford transportation other than the bus.

If young ladies must walk to school then it is the will of Allah.

I'm glad to hear those other passengers derided the muslimah with laughter as the driver de-rided her from the bus.

To all muslimahs throw off buses I'd like to advise: don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Also, please make sure you get thrown off before the bus starts moving again. We don't really want you hurt. We'll leave people being hurt because of Islam to your brothers in Clicy, France, Paris and the occassional Israeli bus blast as in the pre-wall days.

Walk for Allah sistah soljah. :))

and Marsailles - where a French infidel woman was recently burned on a bus by some Franch Utes.

Leave violence on buses to the French Utes.

I hope it was loud laughter. She deserved it. Stupid, pitiful female.

The comparison of the niqab (just to get the terminology correct, and minimize the accusations of us knowing nothing about Islam, the hijab, which many women wear with otherwise Western clothes, is only the head covering that leaves the face fully exposed, while the niqab covers the whole face except for the eyes; the chador, an Iranian thing, covers the head and whole body down to the ankles but leaves the face exposed, and the burqa, the most terrifying of all, covers everything and provides only a small screen for the woman to sort of see and hopefully breathe out of) with KKK hoods or a brown paper bag is an interesting one, and gives rise to this idea: perhaps, if bus drivers are forced to allow niqab-wearing women to use their bus passes without showing their faces, a creative way to protest would be to have a small group of people start a new "religion" and claim that one of the requirements of this religion is that women must always wear brown paper bags on their heads while on buses. If they are not allowed to do so then they can claim religious dsicrimination. Certainly it would be a media-worthy event, and provide much-needed comic relief. But it most likely won't happen, as people will be too afraid that they will be accused of mocking Islam and then subsequently killed, a fear not ungrounded in current reality.

After the veil affair in Britain, this behaviour should be regarded as a deliberate tactic to force Infidel society to accommodate Islamic practices.

We will see more and more of this type of behaviour by Muslims.

Posted by: DP111 [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 6:26 PM

Angloirishslav,

The new religion with bags on their heads is a great idea. Their prophet could be the unknown comic!

Maybe we could ship the Minneapolis Airport Authority's Somalian cab drivers over to the UK to give this chick a ride. They could pick up Aishah of the veil flap on her way to school, as she will probably contact the unidentified chick from the bus to encourage her to cry "pain and sufferin'" so she can get her check for $1000 too.

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 2, 2006 6:47 PM

...let the veiled women walk. It's their choice to not comply with the laws of the land that has so generously accepted them. Walk.

I think there is a way to keep everybody happy. How about if we send some Somali cab drivers to the UK? They can serve the Muslim ladies and we infidels can catch the bus. See? Think outside the box, people.

Posted by: libbysmom [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 3, 2006 12:02 AM

I have an idea inspired by libbysmom: let's allow Muslim cab drivers to practice their discriminatory crypto-sharia, but only let PC Leftists take their cabs.

Posted by: remote_control [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 3, 2006 12:04 AM

Of course, we all know what the conclusion to this story is going to be, don't we?

The poor bastard bus driver will be identified by the company, suspended pending an investigation, and then sacked for refusing to be a dhimmi. The company will then draw up a new rule allowing muslims to travel without having to disclose their identities.

Any day now. Just you see.

Posted by: enemyofislam [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 3, 2006 5:27 AM

To Hugh..........

Veiled muslims are a lot more dangerous than secondary smoke! You can't smoke in public places, can you? They say the secondary infects the non-smoker........just as you state the health of non-muslims! Keep it up. Rick

Posted by: Truthseeker [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 3, 2006 11:58 AM

Shud passengers be given the option of getting off the bus before a masked muslim can board? Easier to just say no to the masked one. But, if as it says the masked one can board by just paying for a ticket the passengers have no options.

Posted by: TheOmegaMan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 3, 2006 12:07 PM

The bus company should fine the woman for failure of policy compliance since it is a private company.

The last time i checked, Muslim + Public Transporation = BAD IDEA.
