For only eight years. Is that because he is a juvenile? "Jailed For Honour Killing," from SkyNews, with thanks to Mackie:
A teenager who killed a six-year-old girl in a so-called honour arson attack has been jailed for eight years.Daryll Tuzzio, 18, bought the petrol that was used in an attack on the home of Alisha Begum in Birmingham in March.
Mr Justice Field told Tuzzio that he would spend four years at a young offenders institute and the remainder of his sentence on licence.
Sentencing, Mr Justice Field said that although Tuzzio had been cleared of murder, the manslaughter of six-year-old Alisha was a "grave crime".
While nine of her family escaped through the windows, Alisha was trapped in her bunk bed and suffered 95% burns.
She later died in hospital.
The prosecution said the attack was over the relationship between 15-year-old Meherun Khanum and Alisha's elder brother, Abdul Hamid, 21.
Tuzzio's co-defendant, Ahmed Hussain, who is Meherun's 26-year-old brother, was cleared of murder and nine charges of attempted murder....
Police are still hunting one of Hussain's brothers and a family friend in connection with the arson attack.
They are believed to have fled to Bangladesh.

As a regular reader of British media as well as one who lived in the UK for a few years, I'm actually surprised the sentence is as *high* as eight years, especially for a young criminal. I am continually astonished by how lenient most British judges are even in some of the most egregious, sickening cases of murder. What's most unfortunate is that he'll probably be paroled after far fewer than eight years.

I hadn't even heard of this murder! UK readers might compare the press coverage of this with the appalling murder of Jamie Bulger a few years ago. That murder, by 2 young boys, was, rightly, never off the news.

This appalling lack of justice makes me glad I live in the Southern US. In Alabama, Texas, or Florida, this creep would probably gotten the needle.

hmm he fleed home to bangaldesh knowing there is not a hope he will be forced to pay for his crime there
not suprzing seeing as hounor killings there often go unpunished and of course it was just a girl child thar died no mater what gasp is it had been a boy this guy needs to be sewen in to a wet raw hide pigs skin coverd with a 2nd wet rawhide cow hide and left out in a hot sun to dry as it srinks he would suffer the torment tht that little girl endured

I'm also suprised its as high as 8 years. I only heard of the fire on Midlands local news when passing through... "Asians" were the victims; I worked out the rest for myself.
Theres another just gone down in Accrington. One of the Governements ideal multi-culti families from what i'm seeing here, but I guess old habits die hard...

please note that sentences for juveniles tend to be lenient, even for heinous crimes, and that there is some sense to this, given the undeveloped brains of younger people. yes, i know, we all want justice done for the horrifying pain done to a person, a family, a community.
perhaps the brits could jail him for eight years but assigning some blame to his parents, as by deporting them forever?

Last year a muslim girl was killed outside a train station in Denmark, by her younger brother. The families in these affairs usually use the youngest son to be the perpetrator of the crime, because being a juvenile he will get the lightest sentence. It didn't quiet work out that way this time. The Danes put the whole family in Jail. As Punch used to say in the Punch and Judy shows I used to watch on the beach at Blackpool when I was young “Thats the way to do it”.

These things are usually carried out with the full fore-knowledge of the entire faamily. They should all get banged up as a matter of routine -using the youngest brother should make no difference: they should all get equal - and harsh - sentences. Equal except for the one's who make the rat run back to the subcontinent: the governmnt should put a contract out on those. Something has to be done to stop this obscene behaviour becoming a regular feature of British life.

My congressman is John Doolittle; Charlie Brown (not the cartoon character) is his opponent in next week's elections.
I had a phonecon with Brown's media rep a few months ago in which, among other things, we addressed Islam.
When I said that 'honor killings' were common in Muslim society, and that aspect of their culture comes with them as immigrants, he asked, sarcastically, "Oh, and how many girls have been subjected to honor killings in this country?"
I told him that, "We have no way of knowing".
I forwarded this article to him and will hold my nose as I vote for Doolittle on Tuesday.

Can anyone out there understand how, after he openly admitted to police that he fully intended to carry out an 'honour killing' and therefore committed the crime deliberately, he could possibly have been convicted of only manslaughter?

Britain keeps its murder rate lower than the USA, by having the offence of manslaughter.
I don't quite know what the difference is but i think it can be explained:
You brutally kill someone and they charge you with manslaughter, and then after 3 years they release you on licence. Europeans are more civised than Americans, with their long sentences for killing people.
Then you kill four more people and they then wake up and charge you with murder.
This happened in the last week, the guy got a minimum sentence of 35 years.
He will probably be out in less under the "human rights laws".
No wonder the indigenous population are emigrating from the UK in large numbers.

I have coined a new phrase to describe this condition. I call it “COGNITIVE INCONTINENCE” that is why they wear a nappy (diaper) on their heads to stop the shit from running out of their ears, unfortunately it doesn't stop it running out of their mouths.

Under British law, the difference is supposed to be that a manslaughter charge applies when, through stupidity and/or negligence, you kill somebody ACCIDENTALLY. In other words, your actions have resulted in the death of another person, but you did not actually INTEND to kill.
This is a world apart from murder, which traditionally has always carried a heavier sentance (well, it did until recent years, anyway).
