Islamic Tolerance Alert. "Turkey - Attackers Firebomb Protestant Church" from Compass Direct:
November 9 (Compass Direct News) – Unidentified assailants hurled six Molotov cocktails at a Protestant place of worship in western Turkey last Saturday (November 4), breaking windows and inflicting minor damages on the exterior of the building.
The attack followed months of repeated harassment by unknown elements against the small Protestant congregation in the town of Odemis, 65 miles east of Izmir.
According to Odemis security police, fragments of the exploded bombs were sent to Izmir for examination by judicial forensic experts. The explosives were described as homemade devices placed inside beer bottles.
Pastor Mehmet Sahin Coban of the Odemis Love Protestant Church said he was away from the building, where he and his family live, when the attack occurred about 10:30 p.m. last Saturday (November 4). After his young son telephoned him, saying some windows had been broken and flaming objects thrown against the walls, Coban notified police and then hurried to the scene.
Attackers had been throwing stones at the church building almost every night for the past two weeks, Coban said. Although he had reported the incidents to Odemis security police, he said no action was taken.
But within minutes of the November 4 firebombing attempt, a police team from the Public Order and Anti-Terrorist division came to examine the damages, take fingerprints and record Coban’s official complaint.
Local journalists came the following morning to cover the attack, although initial reports in Yeni Asir newspaper and several local dailies on Monday (November 6) identified the building only as a private home.
But a front-page article replete with photographs in the November 7 edition of the Odemis Kent newspaper was headlined clearly, “Molotov Cocktail Thrown at Church in Odemis.”
“I have freedom to worship as a Protestant,” the newspaper quoted Coban as saying. “Six years ago I changed my religious identity to Protestant [Christian]. I have freedom of religion as a citizen of the Turkish republic. The religion written on my identity card is my religion.”
Registration Denied
The 46-year-old Coban, who said he converted to Christianity 14 years ago, said his small congregation has been unable to obtain formal “church” status since it began meeting seven years ago.
First formed in 1999, the 25-member congregation has met in its present location on Selvi Street since 2002. Following established procedures, the group informed the district administrator’s office of its location on both occasions, stating the address and times of their worship services.
In February 2004, Coban said the church had applied in writing to the Odemis municipality to register the location as a place of worship. But 10 months later, the city sent a formal refusal.
Local security police have since pressured the group to close the church because it did not have legal status, Coban said.
After the building’s windows were broken several times during 2005, the church had installed some shutters, as well as iron grilles over windows.
Just two weeks ago, the pastor said, he came out to his car parked in front of the building to find that someone had cracked and broken several of the vehicle’s windows.
Despite the cost, Coban said, his congregation is now looking for a lawyer to help them secure their rights as Turkish citizens, in order to establish their church as an official place of worship.
“Throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at our place of worship is not going to force us to change our faith,” Coban said.

just look fo he local mosque and inman to find the cuprit for the firebombing as for them not being able to register there church well as dhimmini in a
muslim country i have found usely from the history i have been reading even today jews and christains are not allowed to build or repair churches in muslim so even if turkey has laws saying that there is freedom or religion that does not meen the law is obayed just remenber its a muslim nation and is quit capable of useing Taqiyya to make it look like they have human rights like the west on papper, but blown off when it comes to enforcing them just look at all the laws we have on the books that are not normaly enforce why should turkey be any diferent
Dhimmitude is the status that Islamic law, the Sharia, mandates for non-Muslims, primarily Jews and Christians. Dhimmis, "protected people," are free to practice their religion in a Sharia regime, but are made subject to a number of humiliating regulations designed to enforce the Qur'an's command that they "feel themselves subdued" (Sura 9:29). This denial of equality of rights and dignity remains part of the Sharia,

Oh come on guys, give them a break. It's just "modern and secular" Turkey. What did you expect, religious tolerance?

Hi everybody for this one I had to call Bulent. My exmuslim turkish friend I keep telling you about. He told me (and I quote):
"Yeah we would do such things in my old country. Mostly it was young men. Listen after our 2 minutes of hate cursing Christians and Jews in the mosque we were encouraged to go out and show our love and fear of Allah. I am ashamed to say I threw a rock at an old Armenian Christian woman one Friday because she had a small wooden cross on. We were animals."
He has been reading Orwells 1984 thats where he got '2 minutes of hate" I think. He later told me it was more like 1/2 of hate. After prayers they sometimes would have speeches going up to 1/2 hour of why Christians and Jews were inferior. Sounds like an inferiority complex to me!

Benedict XVI needs to add Odemis to his itinerary. He should review the ruins and stand in front of them for the world press.
Since this war is a war of ideas mostly, all churches and all spritural instititutions should join against Islamic jihad. Jihad is 'spiritual' as well, we must not forget it. This is a battle for the soul and for human spirit. Religious and spiritual leaders need to stand opposed to the imams. Killing isn't necessary here. Delivering on the tenets of the various beliefs is...
The Pope needs to do spiritual battle with the imams, mullahs and ayatollahs every hour of every day. This is where victory will be had. The people must see the unequivocal stand Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and other religious leaders make.
Speak out! Stand in front of the ruins of temples and churches! Speak the truth. Expect more from the muslims... never give up. Never stop standing. This is a battle more important than anything Donald Rumsfeld put together.
These leaders are "Special Forces" -- they need to make the stand.

I can't think of too many things more dangerous to be than an "infidel" in a Muslim country these days. It's as if it's open season on them. Where's all that "protection" the Koran speaks of for those who act the good dhimmi? That protection, like everything else in that book is a crock.
Yoohoo, moderate Muslims. Where are you to condemn this sort of thing?

Islamsforlosers - here's the problem with the Moderate solution:
Muslims cannot be any less extreme than Mohammed himself behaved. This is the problem. Mohammed's example is extreme. The commands of Allah encourage and condone Mohammed's extreme behavior.
No moderate muslim can speak against these things with any authority and with physical safety. Until these things change it's of no use to look for a solution from moderate muslims.

Plague-
I've given up finding a moderate Muslim a some time ago. You're right- in trying to emulate Mr. Perfect there is indeed no way to be moderate. Might as well look for a moderate Stalinist or Hitlerite. For them, moderate means shooting someone in the back instead of cutting off their head with a knife.

Islamsforlosers... we need to discredit the whole thing and Mohammed is the key. The five pillars stand and fall with him.

I wish 5 pillars would have fallen on Mo when he was about five years old. The whole world would be in much better shape today.

I have a Hindu friend who's been in the States now for about 20 yrs. Last summer he took a month off, and toured Hindu temples thorughout India. When I asked why, he said that it's only a matter of time before the Moslems destroyed them all, and he wanted his children to see them first.

The good news is that the place sounds like one that hasn't seen a Christian presence since Ataturk drove the Greeks out of western Anatolia. While I pray for the survival, prosperity, and increase of the old Greek, Armenian, Copt, Aramaean, Assyrian, etc. communities of the Middle East, I also pray that they speedily wake up to find themselves outnumbered by Christians of Arabian, Turkish, Pashtun, Kurdish, and Farsi heritage,

If the Turks want to join the EU, then they better stop harrassing Christians, Jews, Kurds, etc. Just remember this , the Turks supported the Nazis during ww2 and the most read book in Turkey is not the Koran, but, Mein Kampf!

Plague wrote "No moderate muslim can speak against these things with any authority and with physical safety."
Your absolutely right. A moderate Muslim is in the same situation a moderate Communist was in during the time of the Soviet empire. Remember what happened to Imri Nagy in Hungary who tried to moderate the Communist regime there. His country was crushed by Soviet tanks and he was executed.
http://fog.ccsf.cc.ca.us/~sgati/gatiproductions/starting_over/revolution.htm
This only changed when virtually no one in the Soviet Union or its satelites believed any more in Marxism because it was so contrary to basic human nature. Then its ideological death came quickly. Islam, like Communism is also contrary to humanity and eventually it too will die. Let's pray that its ideological death comes soon.

Turkey is a totaly muslim fueled bully. There were protests there by secular turks because the govt is acting more and more like its vast majority of constituents wants them to (ie as islamic as possible). I have found the most anti-Turkish govt people to be actual secular Turks (like my friend Bulent). They act like they've just been freed from a cult when they leave Islam ("thats because it is a cult" he said to me) and have a fear and hatred of the govt there. No wonder to: most secular Turkish journalists face threats AND have been killed. Did you know the Grey Wolves a far right wing pro islam group is on very good terms with the 'mainstream' govt there. Thats the same group that snuck into Greek national forests a few years ago to set them ablaze because they hate Greece for 1) being nonmuslim and 2) being free and not under Turkish control.
Turkey has NEVER shown any good faith towards Europe neither in its policies on a govt level or by its "exported workers" who create ghettos all over the place and refuse to honor the countries they go to. Listen my parents are from Greece I was born in Canada and love Canada (as they do). I would die to fight against threats to Canada. My American cousins are the same about the good old USA. WHY OH WHY arent muslim immigrants like that hmm?
I will tell you exactly why: because my family came here as CHRISTIANS bringing our work ethic and peaceful belief in treating others as you would want them to treat you (thats from the bible for all you christianity haters out there).
Muslims bring not only their quran of hate but their POLITICAL religion of Islam. They will NOT join or be faithful to the countries that they go to.
Im sorry but they are scum.
God Bless America
God Save the Queen.

As a matter of fact most of the people on here do. Im so glad there are many folks out there who still care about democracy and freedom and just telling the truth for crying out loud. The truth about Islam as we would any Nazi-like 'philosophy'. Like I said earlier in another post Im buying more copies of Robert Spencers book politically incorrect guide to Islam to pass out to people.

GreekGurl yasou kookla hi! yes hopefully more will wake up. From what I understand most leaders are grasping for straws when they try to find real allies among the muslim nations and they have bought a bill of good when it comes to 'secular' Turkey. Remember in the gulf war --turkey friend of america--didnt let them fly over their territory (Greece did). Turkey is presented as moderate by their propaganda machine and the PC politicians desperately want to believe that. Its like being in an abusive relationship --they are in denial. Dont worry GreekGurl they cannot hide their real colors for long. Soon all the world will see how 'secular' Turkey is...
Americaningermany I will definitely look that up at amazon. thanks for your kind words brother. I hope its not too late to turn all the Allies on to this I dont want any damn suitcase bombs to go off first before people starting waking up more. Please be careful there in Germany I read more and more about islamofascists there daily. I bet the German people will wake up and though it might mean a civil war (against islamofasicsts inside the country) theyll boot them out . Thats my dream for Germany.
