"Women Asked to Leave Seminar" by Raid Qusti for Arab News:
RIYADH, 22 November 2006 — A presenter from King Saud University at an international medical seminar at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center caused a stir yesterday when he insisted that all women — including medical and media professionals — leave the room before he would enter the room to give his presentation.
Initially some women expressed consternation at the request, but later relented and left the room so the doctor and orthodox man could give his presentation about Islam and the ethics of organ donation and end-of-life issues.
Prior to the presentation by Dr. Yousef Al-Ahmed, the audience was informed that the doctor would not be in the same room with women when he spoke about medical ethics.
“We had to ask the female medical staff to leave the hall based on the sheikh’s request,” said a member of the organizing committee who preferred to remain anonymous.
“This is ridiculous,” said one woman, a medical professional and Muslim. “In the Grand Mosque in Makkah men and women pray together. Why are we being asked to leave? This guy knows a hospital is a mixed place. He should have realized that before he came,” she said. “I am being put in a very embarrassing situation.”
Actually, the Saudi clerics recently tried to restrict women there, too.
A Saudi woman who specializes in neuroscience said the doctor had no right to ask women to leave.
“We had every right to be there,” she said on condition of anonymity. “We were attending a scientific medical symposium. If he did not want to attend the symposium because it was mixed with men and women medical experts doing their job, that is his problem, not ours.”
After Al-Ahmed persisted on his request that women not pollute his presentation with their presence, event coordinators began urging women to leave so the event could continue. Two women reporters from Saudi Arabian Television Channel One and Saudi satellite channel Al-Ekhabriya were also told to leave the hall.

These women behave as if misogyny is not a fundamental part of islam. They are shocked. And then they scurry away with their tails between their legs thinking that this doctor was some sort of freak of nature. I think they have bought the liberal line that islam means equality or some such nonsense. So when they see true islam, they don't recognize it.
They condemn the doctor, but not their culture, and certainly not their religion. Just the doctor. Just as liberals and all the other dhimmiwits blame the terrorists but not islam. It is always the individual who is at fault, islam itself is never the problem. What is a religion if not the collective will, values, and actions of the majority of its adherents?
Nonetheless, we live in a world where nothing negative can be allowed to reflect upon islam. Hypothetically speaking, every muslim on the planet can be a blood thirsty vandal wavering a koran and an ak-47, and the apologists will still say "this" is not islam, 1.2 billion people have simply misinterpreted their religion. It is coming to that point, it seems, where PC values are more real than reality.

Our friends the Saudis. Cheney's over there slapping backs. This type of article should be, but never will be, run, every day, on the first page, above the fold of all western newspapers. Most readers are unconscious dhimmis and sheeple. Robert and Hugh, you both do yeomen's work, but how can we get this type of insane behavior more publicity? How many people know about, or even remember the Saudi girls who were burned alive because the religious police physically prevented firemen from saving the un-burqaed girls?

This phrase from the story says it all, ladies.
your presense is a pollutount to he holy muslim male. It is best of you to stay our of sight and out of mind. preferrly you should be in the home cooking the meals and taking care of the 9 children, or else if outside accompanied by a male so you will only cause half as much pollution. Yup, thats the proper islamic attitude towards women and it's straight from the koran.

According to Edina Lekovic, of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, women have a place of respect and honor in Islam.

I'm amazed that Saudi Arabia hasn't segregated the sexes in every aspect of society already. Sometimes I wonder if the Taliban really is worse than these kooks.
It sure would be a hoot if their god turned out to be a woman. That would be one hell of a cruel joke!

Their god is a woman, a goddess. Why do you think she courts the males? And sets aside the women to subhuman status? It’s called jealousy, an inferiority complex. Of course, this goddess is a daemon of Satan.

As a woman who had a good career in a male dominated field, I am deeply offended and saddened by news like this. The women at the seminar should have insisted that they stay, and made lots of noise about it too. And what about their male colleagues ? Why didn't they insist the women had every right to be there ?
What a shame stories like this never make the mainstream media. Islam is like some nasty, slimy creature living under a rock. Expose it to the light , show it for what it really is and maybe it will curl up, wither and die.
If islam had its way, there would be no women in the world at all.

The primary problem in Islam is the traditionalist extremism that is metastasizing and escalating.

Recently found out that women are not required to attend Friday prayers (explains the TV visuals of men only leaving mosques after prayers) and if they do, they pray separate from men in a separate room of the mosque, since the presence of a dog, donkey or woman invalidates the prayer of a man !!!
And muslimas continue to insist that the RoP respects them.

If this shiek ever needs medical attention in that hospital......I'm sure any woman could Bobbitize this ignorant buffoon.
So the women would pollute his presence. Those women should have waited for him to leave the symposium and pelted him with their shoes, used femine products, dirty diapers (not the ones they wear on their heads) rotten tomatoes, and any other left over garbage.
This muslim male is not nearly as educated he thinks he is.

1) The hospital should have said, "OK, go home, we don't need you". It is the cowardice of poltroons dressed up as civilized men that makes this kind of stinking sanctimonious trash possible.
2) How gay is this? A guy who won't even speak in a room where women are present!
3) OK. Let's assume he's not a toxic closet-case. There is some sort of really toxic psychology going on here -- and this Al-Ahmed clown is a serious single-handed disease vector.
4) The civilized people of the world should use this kind of language about the islamists -- We don't want them to "pollute" our lives "with their presence".

Wow..sure sounds like this religion of peace has equal rights with women and men...
I cannot understand why women follow this religion, they are half what a man is, they dont have any rights, they cannot inherit anything, they always have to belong to a man, they are beaten by their husbands, and the quran says that hell is full of Muslim women etc... As someone has said before, they have hell on earth then they die and go to hell, why would you follow Islam..
