It is good to see this sentence handed down. But the condemned men's statements are noteworthy. These are men who believe deeply in the traditional Islamic death sentence for those who leave the fold. "Bangladesh: Islamic Extremists Face Death for Killing Christian," from Compass Direct:
December 1 (Compass Direct News) – A court in Bangladesh has sentenced two Islamic extremists to death for murdering Dr. Abdul Gani Gomes, a Christian convert from Islam, in September 2004.Gomes, 48, was returning from work in the northern town of Duyanipur in Jamalpur district when four militants, including the two convicted men, jumped him and, in their words, “hacked him to death.”
Hafez Mahmud and Mohammad Salauddin are leading figures in the banned Islamic militant group Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), according to a BBC report.
Both men confessed to killing Gomes on the orders of JMB leader Shaikh Abdur Rahman. JMB members said they resented Gomes because he had encouraged other Muslims to convert to Christianity.
“I am happy that I killed him,” Salauddin told reporters as he emerged from the courtroom.
The verdict was given on November 9. Mahmud and Salauddin have until December 9 to appeal it.
Compass sources said Gomes’ wife, Shahnaz Parvin, also a Christian convert, was present at the trial. In front of the judges, the killers said they would kill her also if she did not convert back to Islam.
Mahmud and Salauddin also threatened Judge Shaheed Noor Uddin, saying their “own” court had already sentenced the judge to death for passing down a guilty verdict.

“I am happy that I killed him,” Salauddin told reporters as he emerged from the courtroom.
Now what book was Saluddin reading to give him the idea that he should be happy for killing an apostate?

Well in this case, good for the judge and good for the law. I'm surprised, but pleased at the verdict.

I hope more militants are killed for committing murder against those who only want to follow what they believe in their hearts.

The right verdict was handed down, obviously. To a jihadist, though, being sentenced to death by an "infidel" court is probably a great honor, since he not only obtains martyr status, but also gets a parting verbal shot at the heathen authorities on the way out. I doubt if the prospect of western justice, even if widely enforced in places like Bangladesh, will serve as much of a deterrent for these hellions.

Kudos to Judge Shaheed Noor Uddin for his dedication to justice despite the threats to his own life. He is a clear example that humanity can triumph over ideology.

A very large problem? Many Christians do not think their traditional beliefs are reasonable. So, they don't really believe their own Scripture.
Those who do not fully believe may wish to consider one sentence: God can program in three dimensions.
That means He can program particles, compile them into structures and beings, and have them move through time.
So, Christianity can be related seamlessly with its Scripture.
When we do this, we can relate with, and understand better, those of the Moslem faith.
More info on catholicfundamentalism.com where there's a free book "New Road to Rome" that can be downloaded. It's important.

How nice to see Muslims taking pride in their fine work. Does this mean they are "Mansonized"?
Yet this is a religion of peace when "people" not only do these things but gloat about them.

I'm a little confused here. In most evangelical and protestant circles, the canonized scripture is considered to be the Word of God, and is the basis of what would be called Christianity.
I don't think the issue here is how we can relate to, or understand, those of Muslim faith. The larger issue is dealing with the logical outworking of the Islamic scriptures, which appears to be the murder or subjugation of its opponents (including Christians). Also, since the claims of the Bible and the Quran/Hadith are mutually exclusive, understanding the authority of the Bible is not going to serve as a reforming agent for Islam.
I pray regularly for the Lord to move in the hearts and lives of Muslims, but the Word also enjoins us to be "wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Let's not forget the wise part.

Salauddin, I don't know how many active posters there are at JW right now but it seems to me that damn near all of them will be happy when you are dead.

Come next year after ramadan, those muslim murderers will be pardoned by the authorities. The justice they deserve will not come from this world.
Islam is the religion of hate and intolerance. Anyone can get on their knees 5 times a day and repeat words. What good is that when they have hatred and revenge in their hearts.

We infidels always ask muslims why they can't just let their god to do his own smiting....they believe that he does, through them.
008.012
YUSUFALI: Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."
PICKTHAL: When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.
SHAKIR: When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them.
008.013
YUSUFALI: This because they contended against Allah and His Messenger: If any contend against Allah and His Messenger, Allah is strict in punishment.
PICKTHAL: That is because they opposed Allah and His messenger. Whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, (for him) lo! Allah is severe in punishment.
SHAKIR: This is because they acted adversely to Allah and His Messenger; and whoever acts adversely to Allah and His Messenger-- then surely Allah is severe in requiting (evil).
008.014
YUSUFALI: Thus (will it be said): "Taste ye then of the (punishment): for those who resist Allah, is the penalty of the Fire."
PICKTHAL: That (is the award), so taste it, and (know) that for disbelievers is the torment of the Fire.
SHAKIR: This-- taste it, and (know) that for the unbelievers is the chastisement of fire.
008.015
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! when ye meet the Unbelievers in hostile array, never turn your backs to them.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! When ye meet those who disbelieve in battle, turn not your backs to them.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! when you meet those who disbelieve marching for war, then turn not your backs to them.
008.016
YUSUFALI: If any do turn his back to them on such a day - unless it be in a stratagem of war, or to retreat to a troop (of his own)- he draws on himself the wrath of Allah, and his abode is Hell,- an evil refuge (indeed)!
PICKTHAL: Whoso on that day turneth his back to them, unless manoeuvring for battle or intent to join a company, he truly hath incurred wrath from Allah, and his habitation will be hell, a hapless journey's end.
SHAKIR: And whoever shall turn his back to them on that day-- unless he turn aside for the sake of fighting or withdraws to a company-- then he, indeed, becomes deserving of Allah's wrath, and his abode is hell; and an evil destination shall it be.
008.017
YUSUFALI: It is not ye who slew them; it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah's: in order that He might test the Believers by a gracious trial from Himself: for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth (all things).
PICKTHAL: Ye (Muslims) slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou (Muhammad) threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw, that He might test the believers by a fair test from Him. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower.
SHAKIR: So you did not slay them, but it was Allah Who slew them, and you did not smite when you smote (the enemy), but it was Allah Who smote, and that He might confer upon the believers a good gift from Himself; surely Allah is Hearing, Knowing.

Should this article be in DhimmiWatch? Shouldn't we wait (say a coupl'a months) until the ruling is over-turned or the convicted pardonned?

There needs to be more of this. Muslims are getting away with murder all the time. If the Muslim religion makes it a crime deserving of death for someone to change their religion, Muslims and their religion have no place in a free country with freedom of religion.

Americaningermany wrote: If anyone still doubts that islam is an evil cult, just look how they murder people who try to leave it!
I totally agree with you. What makes this particular cult so different from the others is that it has been able to take over such a large portion of the world's population by centuries of bloodshed. Mohammed was Satans messenger, make no mistake about that.
No other religion (and very few actual cults) practice killing ex-members. Islam is the worst cult that ever existed and the worst blight on mankind. In fact it is probably the most grand deception in human history.
'Religion of peace' my arse! It's the religion of war and oppression. We know who Allah really is, it hardly takes an Einstein to work it out either.

in the Islamic world and the infidel converts only have the right to killed or so Muslims congratulations this judge are standing up to radical Islamic group this group just proves their action that radical Islam may be wiped out and all Muslim nations to send missionaries to our lands their home countries must allow regional of religion and Christian churches to send missionaries in Islamic countries freely without the threat of being killed or arrested anyone to kill the convert he shot on the spot after being castrated since I believe a eunuch cannot enter Paradise and the radicals knew that a be killed castrated I wonder how many them would try to kill converts
