Speaking as a retired bus driver we were not allowed to board anyone whose face was covered, period. It's been three years since I retired but I'm going to check into it and see if that has changed.

Useful should you feel inclined to visit a Middle Eastern restaurant or a grocery store in Dearborn or a reception given by the Embassy of a Muslim country. Don't just limit it to the women in your party. Everyone should join in.

Haven't passenger busses in Israel been blown up again and again? At times, haven't the bombers been disguised as women? Haven't Al-Qaeda members in Iraq been disguised as veiled women? Didn't Nuri es-Said try to escape Col. Qassem in 1958 by dressing as a veiled woman? Isn't this the oldest and most obvious disguise that a Muslim man would immediately think of? Are those permitting this veil in public thinking about public safety, or about not having to deal with a problem that will require them to offend somebody?

I voted for Bush twice; the first time because I truly believed in him, the second time I was having some doubts but I had not lost all faith. I could never vote for a Democrat for president. If both choices were unacceptable, I just wouldn't vote. I still believe Bush is better than Kerry would have been, but Bush is a horrible disappointment.

As for impeachable offenses, I can think of several. The first one is his refusal to defend our borders and stop the flow of millions of illegal Mexicans and thousands of muslim terrorists. Bush swore to uphold the Constitution and the Constitution does not sanction open borders and mass illegal immigration. We have existing immigration laws that Bush has adamantly refused to obey and he has punished the U.S. Border Patrol for their efforts to enforce these laws. It is apparent to me that George W. Bush is more concerned about the people of Mexico than the citizens of the United States.

If everything I have read about the North American Union is true, borders notwithstanding, Bush has committed treason and should not only be impeached, but tried in a court of law for treason. I have no doubt that Bush signed agreements with Mexico and Canada to create a North American Union fashioned after the EU. I have no doubt that he has delegated hundreds of people to work out the details of his sell-out of America. I have no doubt that this entire plot is shrouded in secrecy because he knows the American people would revolt if they knew what was going on. And I have no doubt that when the time comes to unveil this diabolical betrayal of America, a sudden catastrophic event will occur and the NAU will be sold to the public as our only salvation from imminent disaster.

This brainchild of the Council on Foreign Relations is due to become reality by 2010. Mexican and European financial gurus are already speaking publicly about the need to expedite the establishment of our new currency, the Amero. Yet only about one in ten Americans has ever heard of the North American Union because the MSM isn't talking about it. That's because the Chairman of every major news organization belongs to the CFR.

A couple of comments here. First, does Daisytoo mean that this IS the case, or that it SHOULD BE the case?
Next, in regard to public transportation, perhaps some blogger from NYC or Chicago or DC can help: have you seen veiled women riding the subways or the commuter trains? I have only rarely used these modes of transit, but as I remember there would be no obstacle: one buys a ticket at a machine, puts it in the turnstyle, and boards the train; there's no guard at each door to stop one.
Next, in regard to banks and financial institutions, again I'd like some input from employees of such institutins, since I have no idea myself. Would your bank allow a veiled woman to make a withdrawl from her account without removing her veil? Do any banks have rules on such matters? Perhaps only requiring the removal of the veil for transactions involving large amounts? I would guess that many banks would allow her to keep her veil on. After all, every day, I get offers from banks and loan companies to loan me money, or give me their credit card, and they've never seen me at all, in a veil or not! And none of the applications ask for a photo i.d.

I just sent the Grand Rapids transit company an e-mail basically telilng them they are setting themselves up for a possible terrorist attack and they won't be able to identify the women. I also told them that thousands of women/girls are being forced to wear the full veil by their husbands/fathers/brothers. And that here in Israel I have yet to see a woman in full veil - I live near Yaffo and I see these women on a daily basis. FYI, Grand Rapids is a very Christian town, a lot of practicing Catholics and Christian Reformed. There is a small but, growing prescence of muslims in this community, not much different than it is anywhere else. I think there is a lack of knowledge of islam amongst our population here but, that is also much like "anywhere else" USA. This was a case of not wanting to offend another "religion."

In all my 45 years here in Grand Rapids, where the rapids are not Grand at all, I have never seen a fully "hijabbed" person. The interfaith dialogue member, Debbie Mageed, quoted in the article admits she does not wear full face covering but, describes the several women in the area that do, as very pious, Amerian born women. Debbie is a convert. A John Walker Lindh type of convert. Hugh Fitzgerald has written somewhat on these types. They are not representative to who we are in Grand Rapids or in Michigan. We are much stronger as a nation,including Michigan, than you think. No need to secede.
