A MUSLIM doctors’ leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is “un-Islamic”.Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them “haram”, or unlawful for Muslims to take.
Islam permits only the consumption of halal products, where the animal has had its throat cut and bled to death while God’s name is invoked.
Islam also forbids the eating of any pig meat, which Katme says is another reason why vaccines should be avoided, as some contain or have been made using pork-based gelatine.
His warning has been criticised by the Department of Health and the British Medical Association, who said Katme risked increasing infections ranging from flu and measles to polio and diphtheria in Muslim communities.
Katme, a psychiatrist who has worked in the National Health Service for 15 years, wields influence as the head of one of only two national Islamic medical organisations as well as being a member of the Muslim Council of Britain. Moderate Muslims are concerned at the potential impact because other Islamic doctors will have to confirm vaccines are derived from animal and human products.
There is already evidence of lower than average vaccination rates in Muslim areas, reducing the prospect of the “herd immunity” needed to curb infectious diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella.
Katme’s appeal reflects a global movement by some hardline Islamic leaders who are telling followers torefuse vaccines from the West.In Nigeria, Afghanistan, Pakistan and parts of India, Muslims have refused to be immunised against polio after being told that the vaccines contain products that the West has deliberately added to make the recipients infertile....
He argued that leading “Islamically healthy lives” would be enough to ward off illnesses and diseases.
“You see, God created us perfect and with a very strong defence system. If you breast-feed your child for two years — as the Koran says — and you eat Koranic food like olives and black seed, and you do ablution each time you pray, then you will have a strong defence system,” he said.
“Many vaccines, especially those given to children, are full of haram substances — human parts, gelatine from pork, alcohol, animal/monkey parts, all coming from the West who do not have knowledge of halal or haram. It is forbidden in Islam to have any of these haram substances in our bodies.”...

Yes, some die. The infant mortality among muslims is very high here. Whenever I visit the muslim ghetto in my city, I see a child's funeral procession. And polio runs rampant in ghettos as does T.B. But not all contact the diseases.
Yesterday I visited a ghetto that I rarely go to, and lurked for a while. One muslim male was out with his family. Himself, 2 moving tents, and 16 children up till the age of 12-13 maybe. Even if 25% are infected, there are 12 who will not be.

The trouble is we will have to pay for their medical treatment when they are ill. Katme is a psychiatrist, why is it that this does not surprise me.
Muslims already suffer from the difficulties caused by arranged marriages between first cousins, and now they are going to be blighted by diseases that we have virtually eliminated in the West.
This is not a clash of civilisations it is a clash between civilisation and ignorance.

Yes, we pay for their healthcare. The government distributes free T.B. medicines, crutches for the polio infected etc. I don't know how big a burden they are on our healthcare system, but it must be substantial.

Let their ignorance kill them. Muslim birthrates are too high and there has to be some kind of natural culling process. It's evolution. Eventually, the only ones left will be the kind of people who have the intelligence to realise that while a lot of medication has it's problems, there are some things that will stop you from dying. You do it whether you like it or not. I'm vegetarian and practically vegan but I'm not going to refuse animal products that will save my life.

I wouldn't care so much if they killed themselves. The problem is that this, combined with their refusal to properly wash their hands in hospitals, is going to kill a lot of other people.

The only issue I have with this is that infected Moslems may infect normal people. I have no problem with them staying unvaccinated in their own countries.

......Of course, the immediate result was a sharp increase in the number of polio cases. As many as 250,000 Muslims could contract this dreadful disease that otherwise would be polio-free with the simple and wise vaccination...
.....Some Muslim countries are a bit wiser as Saudia Arabia which has placed travel restricitions:
"Children under the age of 15 from polio-affected countries, and Muslim pilgrims of all ages from Nigeria, must show proof of polio vaccination to receive an entry visa, Yagob Yousef Al-Mazrou of Saudi Arabia’s health ministry said.
Those entrants also get a dose of the vaccine upon arrival."

Another 'learning moment'.
Katme, a psychiatrist who has worked in the National Health Service for 15 years, should be challenged to PROVE his assertion.
And whether he can or cannot do so, for the good of the nation, he should be removed from his NHS position.

I am young enough to climb ladders for my work and old enough to remember standing in lines in auditoriums in the 50's for the mass vaccinations that wiped out polio in my childhood.
Even a few years ago I could not understand when my late older sister talked about the plagues and viruses that would come in the end times, First I said no way, our medicine is too good. Then I said there is no way we would not see such an overcoming of our system as not being from God and continue to regect Him.
Well, it looks like both the modus operendi and the justification have been put in place by Satan. I guess he's been reading the Bible.
He never misses a trick.
I am lucky in that where I live I don't come in contact with many of the Cult of Death. And I plan to make it even more so.
Now if we could just get one of these guys to expose what the infidels put into the air in the airliner cabins. If they only knew.
You see the airlines had to payback somehow for 9/11.

I'm a doctor and was appalled by this story.Normally the medics that annoy me most are the ones practising the absurdity of homeopathy. In order to do this they have demonstrated that they are either scientifically illiterate in which they case they are a danger to patients or preposterously venal which again should disqualify them. I think I will draw the attention of the Fitness to Practise Commitee to this affair.

Unfortunately there are many Westerners who are eschewing vaccines. In the US we are seeing an increase in measles, diptheria and whooping cough because modern day parents believe scaremongers who say that vaccines that contain thimerosal cause autism and other problems.
so it isn't just the Muslims who are spreading this nonsense. Even supposedly highly educated folks believe nonsense. Educated Westerners hold chicken pox parties so that their children become infected.
let us not forget that several years ago folks were scared into believing that alar was causing problems
this is not to negate the ridiculous advice put forth by a psychiatrist, but to point out that all societies suffer from foolishness. The problem is that the Westerners should know better, the Muslims are just ignorant superstitious tribes

It doesn't work if the rest of the time the moslems are dirty and drink dirty water.
As well,the environments have to be scrupulously clean - and sterile.
Food, water, clothes, latrines. Plus how often do these islamics wash their hands.
I'm afraid not because of their health, but because it disease and plagues may spread to the general populace.
IN DEED, these moslem clerics do not give a hoot about their populace. THese imams are diabolical!

Not being a religious man maybe I am mistaken but didn't god always use plague and disease to punish evil? I vote no vaccines for muslims, let them spread their disease amongst themselves, it will be punishment from god for worshiping satan (allah). But then again the healthcare system will have to pay the cost of treating the welfare leeches after they contract the disease. Laws should be introduced along thse lines... if you refuse a vaccine for your child, future treatment for that disease shall be paid for out of your pocket, no money no treatment. This would be to protect insurance companies and more importantly their customers (us) from hugely inflated prices due to fighting very preventable diseases. Let the diseases spread in the muslim countries, but keep em out of the west.

And, unfortunately, it is Muslim adults who are subjecting the rest of society to communicable diseases and their own children to the lifelong debilitating effects of preventable diseases.

In fact, the Koran does say that women should breast-feed their infants for the first two years (verse 2:233).
But the Koranic advisory should come with a health warning: Allah is going to destroy all those infants on the Last Day.

While I could care less over how many idiot Muslims end up afflicted with diseases because they choose to be stupid I am worried about all the non-Muslims who are bound to be contaminated as well. If these idiots want to live in third world conditions then they need to go back to the ummah. And if they are British born, leave for the ummah anyway-plenty of disease awaits there. It might be haram for these morons to have vaccines in their bodies but it SHOULD be haram for the West to have any of these superstitious nuts in their countries.

Agree with this. And of course those diseases could return to the general population.
The other worry I have is that they are going to tell us how to run our health schemes - yet another thin edge of the wedge. This should not be allowed.
If the majority wants immunization so be it.

This is huge problem in Uttar Pradesh, India. It has the highest rate of polio infections, and yet I have not seen Indian newspapers make the connection between that and the paranoia around the vaccines. And that's a big part of the reason why UP is the s***iest in the country.

Lili, what does God have to do with it? The Muslims say they will not take the vaccinations because they are haram. If their kids die it's because the parents neglected to take precautionary means to protect them. Shouldn't you really say that you would be proud NOT to be a Muslim? That is unless you are just taking digs at Christians because you think that makes you clever.

I thought all children had to show proof of vaccination to register in school; they do here. I even had to dig out my daughter's vaccination records when she registered for college.
It's a shame that an educated physician, a psychiatrist to boot, would encourage disease, pain and suffering. He isn't fit to practice medicine and should have his license revoked. I would hate to be at the mercy of a muslim doctor; this is proof that they cannot be trusted. How can a person undergo the extensive training and education required to be a psychiatrist and remain so ignorant? If this isn't proof of islam's incompatibility with Western culture, what is?
Perhaps this is a clever ploy to keep girls out of school, or to keep all muslim children out of British schools. If vaccinations are required for school and they don't have them, they won't attend public schools. Then they could demand government money for islamic schools and all muslim chiidren would be thoroughly indoctrinated in anti-Western, jihad ideology. At least now they are exposed to alternative cultures, religions, and lifestyles, and indoctrinated at home and at the mosque. It just becomes more surreal by the day. Where will it all end?

If they want to be ignorant and die of diseases that have already been prevented by Western advances then let them.
