"The subject peoples," [i.e., the dhimmis] according to a manual of Islamic law endorsed by Al-Azhar University in Cairo, must "pay the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya)" and "are distinguished from Muslims in dress, wearing a wide cloth belt (zunnar); are not greeted with ‘as-Salamu ‘alaykum’ [the traditional Muslim greeting, 'Peace be with you']; must keep to the side of the street; may not build higher than or as high as the Muslims’ buildings, though if they acquire a tall house, it is not razed; are forbidden to openly display wine or pork...recite the Torah or Evangel aloud, or make public display of their funerals or feastdays; and are forbidden to build new churches." ('Umdat al-Salik, o11.3, 5).
"Islamists threaten Yemeni Jews for selling wine," from Reuters:
SANAA, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Nearly a quarter Yemen's Jews have fled their village and sought refuge at a hotel in the Arab country after militant Islamists threatened to kill them for selling alcohol, a government official said on Monday. The official, who asked not to be named, said authorities had deployed policemen around the hotel to protect the Jews, numbering at least 45, after they escaped the village of Al Salem in the northern province of Saada two weeks ago.
Just 200 Jews live in Yemen after thousands were evacuated to Israel in 1948.
"The Shi'ite militants of (Abdel-Malik) al-Houthi sent threats to them (Jews) because they sell wine," the official told Reuters. The Jewish community denied they sold wine.
Islam forbids the sale or drinking of alcohol.

What are Yemeni Jews still doing in Yemen?! This is called "natural selection." I could understand other dhimmis who face obstacles in attempting to immigrate to the West, but there is no excuse for Jewish dhimmis to remain dhimmis when the State of Israel accepts any Jew, regardless of origin, with open arms, and automatically grants citizenship.

US_infidel I agree with you about immigration for the Yemeni Jews, although those that stayed behind probably did not want to leave the land that was the land of their ancestors too, not just the Yemeni Muslims. I believe that most Jews finally left Yemen in the 1990's through concerted Israeli efforts. Like in Iraq today, a very small number stayed behind. Yet, even that small number is too much for Islamic countries like Yemen. The recent news that there were a tiny number of Jews left in Pakistan sent shock waves through that country, whose official and unofficial policies have been trying to get rid of their small Christian and Hindu populations. As Islamic countries "purify" their countries of non-Muslims of all types, the Muslims in the West beat the drums even louder to push their claims of "Islamophobia" and insist on more immigration from Muslim countries and more accommodations once they reach the infidel country of their choice. From the Muslim point of view, the policy is working wonderfully....destroy non-Muslims in their own countries...and then move large numbers of Muslims to Western countries, where they can begin the pattern again.

There were jews there before there were Muslims, as in the rest of Arabia. And of course, D'Souza would suggest that they connect with their family families....
Of course, being 'dhimmi' is what Islam makes them, and not selling alcohol was of no importantance to the fine traditionalists, who of course, know better than to stand up and march against those vicious few who would slaughter the jews and have already driven them from their homes, their businesses and their very lives.
The religion of submission continues it's dirty work, it's sociopathic work, and the likes of D'Souza want us to hold hands and sing kumbaya.

I suspect that the founder(s) of islam KNEW that wine takes you out of "Time" - to another world (the chemical makeup and processing of grapes is different from uisque and such). And the islamics do NOT want anyone to escape, even for a short while.

Except for the pork and wine references, these rules/prohibitions appear to be straight from the Pact of Umar:
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/pact-umar.html
at January 30, 2007 1:26 PM
We shall not manifest our religion publicly nor convert anyone to it. We shall not prevent any of our kin from entering Islam if they wish it.
We shall show respect toward the Muslims, and we shall rise from our seats when they wish to sit.
[from the fordham.edu link above]
sounds lovely. I thought there was a bus boycott in Birmingham because of rules like these. I'd love to hear a comment from Keith Ellison on the topic. Too bad I'm not a 'journalist'. I wouldn't have survived in 'journalist' school for a day!

Sorry, the Pact of Umar does include this indirect reference to wine:
We shall not sell fermented drinks.

Our answer should be no more mosques built in America and no overseas (Saudi etc.) funding allowed. Do unto Muslims as they do unto "the other"

Would Dinesh buy the wine he'd rather have with Michael Moore from these Yemeni Jews? Or would he prefer to buy them from traditional Muslims?

ha ha - thanks for the funny pictures hierophant. They lifted my spirit, since I was kinda bummed that Naseem didn't reply to me in this thread. She never replies to me.
I like to think of Naseem like this:

don't let the witch get you down, I think she's trolling over on Jihadwatch on the article about Pakistan. I'm trying to goad her at the moment. I think the offer of looking at your "pork" frightened her off!
No offense but can't say I blame her!

Looks like a safari pic in Africa.
With the way our culture is going, we may very well, or rather, very bad, get there.
With the Market and the outsourcing of jobs, we, HERE, may very well - WELL - have to start over again. Don't count on the gov! We can only count on ourselves, now.
Are we capable of starting again?
Remember AMERICA is the Land and the people, NOT the gov.

US-infidel: when this story first broke last week, Arutz Sheva quoted a leader of the Yemenite community in Israel as blaming the Israeli government for doing too little to encourage the remnant of the Jewish community in Yemen in the later part of the 20th century to come to Israel and estimated that about 20,000 to 25,000 just gave up the ghost and converted to Islam. He also blamed the Satamer Orthodox sect (nutbars akin to the Naturei Kuerta who also sent representatives to Ahmadinejad's recent Holocaust Denial jamboree) for their efforts to push any Yemenite Jews to seek haven in the US instead.
