More suicidal dhimmitude in France, but not all that surprising considering that French authorities built a monument to these electrocuted boys.
As long as more energy is spent persecuting those who are trying to protect France from the jihadists, rather than prosecuting jihadists, France will be in dire straits. Note how specious the arguments below are. Technicians are supposed to go into the power station to protect two people who are certainly hostile and possibly armed? These policemen are being thrown to the wolves to appease Muslims in France.
From AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
PARIS (AP) -- A judge in the Paris suburb of Bobigny has charged two police officers in connection with the 2005 electrocutions of two teens whose deaths sparked three weeks of rioting in France, officials said Thursday. The two officers were charged Wednesday for ''non-assistance to people in danger,'' which carries up to five years in prison and a maximum $97,400 fine, judicial officials said on condition of anonymity in line with policy.
The decision came more than 15 months after Zyed Benna, 17, and Bouna Traore, 15, were killed as they hid from police in a power substation in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.
The Oct. 27, 2005, electrocutions triggered riots that raged through housing projects in troubled neighborhoods with large Arab and black populations. France's suburbs remain plagued by poverty, discrimination, tensions between youth and police and a sense of alienation from French society.
An internal police review of the electrocutions, released in December, faulted police officers for their handling of the incident. The report confirmed the officers had been chasing the teens before they were killed, which the Interior Ministry and police had initially denied.
The report said officers should immediately have notified French energy company EDF that the youths were hiding in the power station.
It also said that if officers had notified EDF, technicians could have intervened 15 minutes before the accident. Still, the report said such steps would not necessarily have prevented the electrocutions.

Sarkozy, get elected and save your nation before it's too late. The inmates are running the asylum right now. I wouldn't want to be a cop in France for all the money in the world-catching crap from the crazies is bad enough, but catching it from your own government as well is inexcusable.

When I got my Electricité de France utilities bill in December 2005, I knew that a certain proportion of that moneyy went to pay for Zyed and Bouna's electrocution.
This was surtax I was not reluctant to pay.

Hi Sebastien, your mood seems as dark as mine was 6 months ago. I also noted that you are getting ready to bunker down like I have.
A totally ridiculous charge, is he telling me that the police should have gone in to get them out and risk certain death, and is he certain that they even knew the boys were in there. And that EDF would not have saved them anyway, he as good as said not guilty.
But I will let my liberal nature come to the fore, it proves once again that civilised nations have due process and will have inquiries, civilised people do not resort to violence and rioting, civilised people talk and agree and use due process and law.
If the police were persecuted after this or we loose the MoToon case then I for one would see this as the death knell for freedom in France and sell up and get out...

This is horrible. Normally I hate the strike crazy behavior I see in Europe, but if I were a French
policeman, I'd go on strike. Protect your nation,
go to jail? And just what are the jails in France
filled with? Let me guess, Muslims!
at February 9, 2007 10:44 AM
Hi Daffersd and Plague
My mood isn't as dark as it may appear. France needs to hit rock bottom before it gets back up. We might get there pretty soon. Not only that, we have the odd politician who really gets it (de Villiers) and another (Sarkozy) who is hopefully bright enough to understand what's going on and appears to have the ability to learn.
A few days ago he appeared live on TV and told viewers that France will not tolerate FGM or people sacrificing sheep in their bathroom.
In another part of the interview a girl said that as an Algerian whe was upset that the French muslim council (CFCM) was made up of so many moroccans. Sarkozy told her on live TV, you are not Algerian, you are French.
Find me a front politician anywhere else in the world who talks like that.
As much as I don't like pointing to the beam in the other's eye, I'd like to point out that the party which represents 49 % of American voters had a fanatical praying Imam at their national conference. Even Tarik Ramadan, who is far more presentable could never get away with this.
Also, the 'moderate' Mosquée de Paris, has been significantly damaged with their stupid blasphemy suit against Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newpaper.
It is a long way from over.

It seems the French haven't yet done enough to completely alienate their police. There are still a few who are willing to risk their lives and venture into the banlieues to protect these pandering jurists and politicians. This may do it.

Sarkozy's son had a scooter stolen from him. Using expensive DNA techology, the police recovered the scooter and punished the perp.

Sebastian I watched that interview and discussed it with my wife, if I could vote in France I would vote for Sarkozy, and I actually think he understands Islam, but knows he has to move slowly with the political will. Yes the so called moderates showed themselves as anything but, we even had the worst politican on the planet Francois Hollande standing up for free speach, while Mdme Royale echoed Sarkozy on immigration. There is definately the will there and its getting stronger, but this is a trend you note across Europe.
My mood is no longer dark, but I expect the violence will start soon, the Muslims are caught, because if they start now they will definately get Sarkozy in power, so its like the phoney war in my opinion. Though they are definately trying to get the police to kill one and start off the riots again.
You get the sense that there are lots of small skirmishers, provocations by the Muslims against the police, the authorities are trying to keep a lid on it by careful policing. I can only say that I really respect the police who are dealing with this crap day in day out, heroes all of them.
I find it interesting that more and more people are expresing concern, I have heard ardent socialists tell me that Islam is a major problem. I have had comments from people I would not have expected it from.
I happen to think that the UK is in worse shape than France strangely enough, because Sarkozy hit it on the head, you are French, the French know what they are in the sense of the people and most importantly in the government, the issue is more to do with economic decline and jobs which is sapping confidence in the French model in economic terms.
I live in a good area and do not travel far for work, very few Muslims here, though I have one almost next to me with Hijab etc. So day to day I do not have many dealings with them, I tend to meet secularized ones, but I have noticed that the hjab is appearing more and more. I try not to go in areas where there are likely to be Muslims.
So I expect lots of skirmishers, until the police make a mistake and kill one or we have another accident, then riots like 2005, but I expect the police to be tougher and the Islamists to try to up the level of violence.
But this is assuming no isues in Iran and Lebanon cause certain other issues to happen.
As for political will I see a continious development of the understanding of the issue, I also think that France will be at the heart of the transformation of Islam, if it occurs.

Isn't it nice to see how the Liberal media has gone along with these euphenisms that make the Criminals appear to be the Victims .
Here in Toronto canada we had the same catch-22 where the Police were demonized no matter what they did when trying to enforce the Laws and protect innocent civilians , in one case the MSM reported Fleeing-Felons breaking the speed limit
while driving in residential areas as being a "Police Chase" that endangered citizens and property.
The criminals made a free will choice to not obey the police , or just fled the scene in a stolen car which may also could have been a drug related trade that went sour and they feared a shoot-out so they sped away .
One night when some teenage punk stole a luxury car and was cornered in a residential cul-du-sac neighbourhood he chose to hammer the gas and risk killing a Police Officer on the road with a gun pointed at the punk, the cop heard the engine rev up so he fired at the grille or hood to damage
the cooling system and force the fleeing felon to stop when the car died, but , a stray bullit managed to catch the punk and caused bleeding and the car stopped down the street where he died from hisown action to ignore the Police .
The MSM reports "Police shoot and kill black youth" or " Blck teen victim of trigger happy cop" , but we all know that if the punk wasn't stopped and managed to spped away and kill civilians later on the Police would be blamed for "Allowing criminal to flee in stolen car" .
When a mentally ill man caused a problem outside a store the Police arrived and tried to get him under control so they could get the real story of what went on , but the heat wave and the mans old age may have added to his problem with a weak heart and he died on the spot .
This too was reported as "Several Cops pounce on mentally ill innocent male in his 50's" , but when a female gets murdered by a disturbed male
it is the same media that reports "Police fail to protect murder victim from know violent male with mental illness issues".
Toronto had the PC Leftists crusade for a law to stop "Police chases" , as if it was the Police that started the whole thing and not the criminal that chose to flee in a car.
Those two idiots in France were at a unstable protest rally that appeared to be getting violent , they chose to stay at the rally and later when they saw the Police they chose to flee on foot which infered a guilt by the Police following them, then these yahoos chose to break into a power station that had a fence around it for a reason along with signs warning of danger.
But no , they chose to go in and hide among high-power transformers , their dream of leading a Symphony in Paris came to a sudden end when they touched the metal parts and became a "Conductor" all right but not the musical kind.
The Police DIDN"T chase these idiots into the power station and cause them to be electricuted
as the media reports , but once the Muslim propaganda machine repeated the original lie that the Police killed them , the story became the truth and Jihadists didn't care at this point because they had a reason to burn France for Allah.
The night of the fires has become a annual event now and no doubt it will be etched in stone as gospel for Muslims kids to demand the Schools teach this tragic murder of innocent Muslims , but these events and the lies that follow help westerners see why Muslims blindly follow the Quran and deny any of the hateful teaching of Muhammed while asserting the attacks on Islam are from Racism and Islamophobia.
At least these cops got a trial , lately in the UK and the USA CAIR has managed to create such a Psychological fear that Companies or Government merely fire people and then leave it to the Islamophobe to prove they are innocent .
A Muslim would never lie ...Right? , so why bother with Due-Process and all those costs when we know they must be guilty if CAIR says so .

If the majority of Muslims weren't brown and black and non-Western, the problem would have been frankly and rationally addressed long ago.

Of course, that story is indicative of the wider kind of problem that exists in France - the politicians only seem to have the will to do something when it affects them. Had that motor cycle belonged to your neighbour's friend, m. Leclerc or any other person, it would not have been recovered. Why would the authorities bother?
The point I make is that politicians are not in touch with the average person on the street. Promises they make - but promises they don't keep, and this is exactly why detestable people like m. Le Pen manage to get the vote - because they manage to play on people's fears. Of course they do not offer realistic solutions to the major problems facing the country, but they still manage to put on a facade that they are there to solve people's problems. I don't really believe that there is going to be any policitian who is tough enough to take unpopular decisions when they need to be taken, to get France out of the current situation.
That said though, Sarkozy is probably the best hope for France, although whether he will be able to actually make a realistic difference, I am not sure.

If the majority of Muslims weren't brown and black and non-Western, the problem would have been frankly and rationally addressed long ago. Posted by: remote_controlI wouldn't bet on it - look at Bosnia and Kosovo and Chechnya. All White Muslims, but the sympathy of Western governments and PC Westerners are with them. Similarly, how many Westerners are there who look at Ibrahim Hooper, Yvonne Ridley, Abu Abdullah, et al with contempt (not counting people like us who already look at Islam with contempt)?
Problem is one level deeper - Christianity and Judaism are looked at as 'White' religions, and that perception is projected on to even their non-White adherents, such as Ethiopians, Filipinos, Maronites, et al. Islam, OTOH, is looked at as a 'Black' or 'non-White' religion, despite the fact that converts aside, many people from the Middle East are often 'whiter' than many Westerners, who may belong to mixed races (e.g. Caucasian and Vietnamese), and despite the fact that in the Hadith, Mohammed is portrayed as 'White'.
The other part of this issue is political - White converts to Islam who embrace the Multicultural template that the West is bad and anti-West Islam is good, are perceived as good, similar to pro-Affirmative Action Whites. Hence, the screams of racism whenever Islam is attacked, despite the fact that if one wants to see anti-Black racism, one would have to go to Darfur or Southern Sudan to view that firsthand.

Infidel Pride,
"I wouldn't bet on it - look at Bosnia and Kosovo and Chechnya. All White Muslims, but the sympathy of Western governments and PC Westerners are with them."
The reverse-racism factor still pertains, because even the "white" Muslims of the Balkans (perhaps most of them intermixed with Arab and Turkish blood anyway) are seen under the innocent forever "victimized" halo of a non-Western Third World culture.
"Similarly, how many Westerners are there who look at Ibrahim Hooper, Yvonne Ridley, Abu Abdullah, et al with contempt (not counting people like us who already look at Islam with contempt)?"
I don't get this question. For one thing, our dominantly PC culture prevents most Westerners from looking at Yvonne Ridley et al with contempt -- precisely because she has transformed herself into a member of that privileged Third World culture called Islam. Had Yvonne Ridley joined a White Power culture and gone around touting it as a wonderful way of life, there would be no question of her mainstream vilification.
"Problem is one level deeper - Christianity and Judaism are looked at as 'White' religions, and that perception is projected on to even their non-White adherents, such as Ethiopians, Filipinos, Maronites, et al."
Yes, but though that is a "level deeper" it is still the problem of reverse racism that fuels the PC multiculturalist template by which the West irrationally cripples itself.
"Islam, OTOH, is looked at as a 'Black' or 'non-White' religion, despite the fact that converts aside, many people from the Middle East are often 'whiter' than many Westerners, who may belong to mixed races (e.g. Caucasian and Vietnamese), and despite the fact that in the Hadith, Mohammed is portrayed as 'White'."
I think you are obfuscating the issue: the vast majority of Muslims look decidedly brown and ethnic, no matter how pale many might be; and that is an undeniable fact that matters in the calculus of PC multiculturalism and its agenda of reverse racism. The yellow Muslims of SE Asia are less in the radar of the West, but are nevertheless also ethnic and non-white, and hence, privileged and forever victimizable.
"The other part of this issue is political - White converts to Islam who embrace the Multicultural template that the West is bad and anti-West Islam is good, are perceived as good, similar to pro-Affirmative Action Whites. Hence, the screams of racism whenever Islam is attacked, despite the fact that if one wants to see anti-Black racism, one would have to go to Darfur or Southern Sudan to view that firsthand."
This again fits into the reverse racism paradigm of PC multiculturalism.

The situation in France is a strange one to say the least.
The French Police Union issued a statement to its government last year saying that it believed that they were involved in an undeclared intifada in their own communities.
French Police casualties were reported to be in the dozens per day, and that there were many areas they simply cannot go to.
Now the government turns around and decided to sacrifice a couple of those members to appease the elephant in the room that no one wants to acknowledge.
I've said this to friends of mine many times, we will see Christians fed to lions again, it's just a matter of time.

The Border Guards did the right thing. It's a shameful thing to see them sacrificed for politics ( for the INTERNATIONAL CORPORTATIONS to take power - to control the resources of this world - including humans - why do you think in the 80s, the business offices changed the name of the Personnel Dept. to Human Resources?).
As to the Guards, do you think that today, with that example, they have anymore incentive to continue on - to enforce the law? Or do you think they simply shrig their shoulders now? Because the "top" - whoever they are doesn't back them up?
OF course, it's evident, that the gov - the admin. is doing everything to undermine Western society and culture. This, across the Western world. Oh yes, the leaders of the world, are in cahoots with each other.
In all the problems - it will sooner or later, be up to the locals to enforce the law - and to protect themselves.
Now, as well, I can't help thinking that all these wars and rumors of war, are deliberately presented to the people of the Earth to cover up the most important thing that is happening here:
Melting of the glaciers and icecaps on this planet
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/c/a/2006/08/11/MELTING.TMP&o=0&type=science
We're all aware of this peripherally, but NOT really consciously, giving it our full attention. We we were, we'd all put everything aside - and link elbows. People, don't you know, the coastal waters are rising? We are in terrible danger !

I'm sure it reminds you of this case for good reason. One of the Border Patrol agents was just savagely beaten by fellow inmates after they found out he was a law enforcement officer. The agent is in fear for his life. He was supposed to be in protective custody--it is unclear why he was out in the general population, where he is clearly not safe.
If--God forbid--either of these French officers is sent to prison for this bogus "crime", I hope at least they are kept safe from all the Muslim prisoners bent on "revenge".
