Abdication of Responsibility Alert: Never mind demanding self-restraint from men, and addressing Islamic cultures' propensity to excuse their offenses -- make the women wear chastity belts. From AFP:
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - A respected Malaysian Muslim religious advisor has suggested that women wear chastity belts to thwart "sex maniacs" who rape and commit incest, according to a report.
Abu Hassan Din Al-Hafiz said cases of rape and incest were rampant and that chastity belts would help reduce sex-related crimes, the Star daily reported.
"We have even come across a number of unusual sex cases, where even senior citizens and children were not spared. The best way to avert sex perpetrators is to wear protection," he was quoted as saying in the newspaper.
"My intention is not to offend women but to safeguard them from sex maniacs," he said.
Elaborating on his idea, he said there would be other positives to donning the belts.
"Husbands could also feel more secure, if you know what I mean," he said, adding chastity belts were worn as recently as the mid-1960s.
Will not wearing one's chastity belt become tantamount to "asking for" rape?
Abu Hassan has served as a religious advisor to Malaysia's king and written books on Islamic studies.

Where is the National Organization for Women? Where is Human Rights Watch? This surely isn't in compliance with the International Declaration of Human Rights, so why isn't anyone outraged?

Can openers are unknown in Malaysia, so the fully shielded muslimah is safe...and her husband can relax and quit worrying. Well, they are at it again. After the niqabs, hijabs (black to overheat the brain obviously), female circumcision (mutilation I should say!), sex slave to their husband and the list can go on about the religion of peace and equality in between the sexes. Now to put the cherry on the sunday, they will have to lock it up. What a great way to protect your wife, daughter, son, gradma, grandpa... They never thought sewing the eyelids shut of every men in this "religion"? This is probably as humane as what men make the women suffer in those places. It would also aleviate the moral problem with a men getting impure thought by looking at non muslim women.
If the life of so many women were not so miserable, I would have a good laugh...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Islam is a belief system preoccupied with external appearances and little else. There is NO attempt whatsoever to teach self control to young Muslim males and no idea that self control is a good trait to cultivate in oneself. Some of the things permissible in Islam (bestiality, "thighing", etc) are so beyond the pale to our Western mindsets that we fail to realise what a potent weapon we have to use against them. Speaking reently to a friend, I happened to mention that Blue Turban Man had written a treatise on what to do with the flesh of an animal that you had killed after committing an act of bestiality with it (how's that for an afterglow?) Now, my friend is no prude and no stranger to some of the seedier things in life. But this little fact left her speechless in disgust.
The Muslim mind is not like the Western mind. What is the norm in Islamic countries would horrify many of us. Point out the differences (ie what is considered perfectly OK in Islam but is essentially taboo in the West), as Hugh once said, a little apologetically, a little ruefully, as if we don't like to be the one to bring this information to light but...You get my drift.

Instead why don't they pass laws and enforce laws against rape.
If they would kill, behead, or castrate every man that did rape, then the occurance of rape would go down.
The laws are set up to incite rape. When some guy gets horny and rapes it is the womans fault and the woman has no right in court unless she had four men witnesses. In Islam, if there were four men that witnessed the rape, then they participated too.
Where are the f****in feminists? This shows that feminisism is a POLITICAL ACTION ARM of the Democratic Party and not actually a group of women that stand for womens rights. Their organized silence across the world on islam is proof. Want proof......have a Christian stand up on Sunday morning and say women need to wear chastity belts......once said, the following roar would be the western feminists and media. Remember, Abu Hassan Din Al-Hafiz is reckoned to be sane and reasonable by moslem lights. Obviously the man is a compleat lunatic and several glowing coals short of a barbecque.

I was under the impression that Sharia law was supposed to be the perfect legal system, handed down by God (er Allah). And moreover, that the main thing Sharia has going for it is its deterrance value in discouraging crime. For anyone who has ever seen those pop-up IQ tests which ask you to draw logical analogies (and certainly we would assume that Allah has the highest IQ of all), complete this equation:
Sharia law mandates cutting off the hand of a thief.
What would Allah, in all his divine wisdom, mandate cutting off as the equivalent and equally just penalty for rape?

Well - actually there were two Swedish girls who designed a belt with a buckle that cannot not be opened, I read in the newspaper some time ago, and they did it to protect themselves from rape!
Of course muslim men are responsible for their own sexual conduct, but do they know it too??
I only wonder what will happen if a rapist is being thwarted in his intent, just as he thinks he's getting what he wants..Maybe a burka with a machinegun underneath is a much better idea!
