Sometimes I really have to wonder about the majority of Afghanistan's people. They finally have all this help from NATO in dealing with the Stone Age Taliban and yet they do not rise up and slaughter these most crazy of Islamaniacs. And the ummah wonders why the West has to "interfere" in its affairs? If the ummah would clean up its own house the West would not have to send troops all over the place. It's like living next door to a trashy house-sooner or later the rats and roaches will end up in your own home no matter what you do to keep them out. Vast majority of Muslims-rise up and clean your own house already!

One time when I took my dogs out for a pee break, an Iranian couple was taking a walk. I made a mistake of taking both the dogs without a leash and the youngest one immediately barked and charged after them (he's friendly though, he won't bite). The woman screamed so freaking loud and the man took off his shoe and was about to smack him.

So exsgtbrown, you can add 'hates dogs' to the ever-growing list. It's yet another reason to fight this wretched ideology. There is no happiness, only sadness and bitterness in Islam. What most Muslims need is some sense "knocked into them". Because I'll be damned if I have to wear a bee-keeper suit and not be allowed to have dogs.

Don't make fun of their religion or God or prophet. Do that would defeat the results of what you will get if you do it the way I've stated above.

I ask all the budding comics to post videos on youtube making fun of things the jihadists demand. Show them to be stupid & ignorant.

Sorry, I'd be scared if a dog charged at me too. Dog owners whose dogs do that always say 'oh, he won't bite' - don't you realise that being charged at brings on an immediate painful adrenaline response? Yes, people should be allowed to have dogs; and everyone else has the right to not be bothered by their charging or incessant barking. Well-trained dogs, responsible owners.

This is just continuing evidence of the inherent evil that is Islam. When God made the world, music was woven into the very fabric of creation! Humanity has never created things like notes, scales, chords, but rather 'discovered' them. The original instruments were crude but designed to imitate the music in the world around the people who made them. Birds singing, running water, you even see some tribal languages that used these types of sounds as communication.

Consider the pentatonic minor scale, a simple scale made up of five notes, or based on the major scale: 6 1 2 3 5. Originally discovered five thousand years ago by the Chinese. Fast forward in time to the culture created from slavery in America and you get the blues! Two completely different cultures, years apart discovered the exact same scale.

Music is a gift to us. Enjoy it!!! They'd have to pry my guitar from my bloody corpse...

The Major Triad found in Western music is INHERENT in the via nature of sound itself!! The overtone series exists in such a way that when I play a C there is the C, but also the C above that, then G, then C, then E, then Bb and so on. Islam can't eliminate music from nature itself! Yeah, good point! Are you a guitar player? I saw a show one time on a guy who built a 10 string classical guitar just so he could get the same resonance on every note. Very cool, looked extremely hard to play though. The thing must have had a 6-8 inch wide neck.

So what's up with quarter tones like in East Indian music? Sounds out of tune to me *S*. Where are you at? I'm in Canada 'eh, more specifically Alberta...

Let's just say that I share the same continent with you. I primarily a keyboardist myself. I also happen to enjoy a variety of music.

Speaking of classical music, there are instruments that have had sympathetic strings that are tuned, but are not played. They are merely there to resonate with the played strings. Early string instruments, before violins, were such instruments.

Re: Quarter tones in Eastern music. I am not sure exactly about their development, but I would point out that the natural overtone series isn't in tune with what we play in the West. Our Western 12-tone system splits the differences of equal tuning over an octave. The pure overtone series would sound a bit "off" to us, but might explain 1/4 tones in a sense.

String instruments continue to play in pure 5ths, while piano tuning is altered as mentioned above.

Anyway... happy music making and long live human freedom and dignity!
