Sheik Yer'mami, operator of the Winds of Jihad site, who has often commented here, has had his identity and location revealed -- opening him to risk of being killed by jihadists -- by reporter Gavin King, who is no doubt convinced that Sheik has nothing to worry about anyway, since it's a religion of peace.
Sheik Yer'mami explains the controversy here.
And here is Sheik's letter to the Australian press council:
Thank you for getting back to me on this matter.You say:
‘I note your concern but, as a general rule, identification of an individual who is involved publicly in a campaign does not necessarily constitute an invasion of privacy.’
Please note:
I am not involved nor have I ever involved myself in a public campaign. I am a co-contributor of a website that exposes Islamic terror and atrocities, educates about Islamic jihad and the doctrine of Islam, which is a socio-political system in the guise of religion. I (like many others) provide news-feeds and comments. That’s all.
The article on the blog ‘winds of jihad’ never called for ‘holy war’ nor did it incite anyone to commit unlawful acts. The article ‘Stop the Mosque in Cairns’ was a simple reaction to many Cairns residents' objections. What was written in the blog reflected the sentiments of Cairns residents who would not get their objections heard otherwise.
‘Sheik Yer’mami’ is of course a fictitious character (just like Harry Potter) and anyone who takes more than a superficial interest in the subject matter would realize that. Most of the articles on the blog are regular news-feeds from AP, AFP and Reuters.
Islamic terrorism is a scourge on humanity. Gavin King, the Cairns Post reporter who focused his article on me, ad hominem, my family, age, business, even listing my property holdings including where I live, is totally out of line. My identity was never a matter for the public record. Because of death-threats to anyone who opposes the spread of Islam I certainly see myself and anyone else in that regard entitled to anonymity. That should be common sense.
None of it is, nor should it be, in the public interest. All it does is mislead the public and makes me and my family a target of reprisals by lunatic fringe elements of society who are known to use violence, including assassination, to ‘protect’ their so-called ‘religion’. The article on the blog was about a mosque being build in a quiet residential street in Cairns. That’s where Gavin King's focus should have been.
Instead he tried to get me assassinated.
For that reason I believe that Gavin King is unfit to work as a reporter. King, by assuring me of confidentiality and promising that my privacy would be respected, violated every principle of human decency and trust. His act was malicious. He set out to hurt, to inflict damage and to vilify me. It was an irresponsible act of cowardice and nothing short of incitement. Islamic terrorists have killed for much less than that.
If it wasn’t for his assurance, would I have even called him back when he tried to contact me?
Gavin King took the Imam Abdul Aziz’s word that the ‘Winds of Jihad’ website would be investigated by the Federal Police at face value. That is obviously false. Gavin King also claimed the website is ‘vulgar’ and a ‘hate-site’- that is false as well. The editor of the Cairns Post, who assisted Gavin King in smearing me in the paper, has never signed his name to anything. He seems to be afraid of his own shadow. Wouldn’t it be in the public interest to have his name known? Do newspaper readers have a right to know who writes editorials and opinion pieces for them?
The website WoJ was built and is hosted in the US, by people like me who disagree with Islamic jihad and the resulting infiltration and perversion of our society. In the United States free speech is protected. As I mentioned before, the Jihad against infidels and Jews is global. It is not a local matter. To my knowledge the Australian Federal Police has never investigated nor shown any interest to investigate me or this website.
There are hundreds of websites like Winds of Jihad. Everyone is free to educate themselves, to contribute news-feeds and comments. So are you.
I hope this statement gives you a clearer picture of the situation I find myself in and I await your response at your soonest.

I think this may be a situation where tactics similar to CAIR should be used... the legal system....
After reading the email originally sent to you by Gavin King it seems he intended to mislead you, and that was the intent from the begining.
I am no expert, but it seems to me that this is a very clear case.

One lesson, which I have learned from personal experience: never trust a reporter. Ever. A reporter will tell you whatever he thinks he needs to, in order to get the info he needs for his story. Afterwards, he can decide whether to burn you.
A politician or other senior level person may develop a continuing relationship with a reporter where he can trust the reporter to keep confidential certain items told on "deep background". But that's only because the reporter wants to maintain his source for the purpose of obtaining future information, and knows that his VIP source will tell other VIPs not to trust the reporter in the future. The average person, whose value to the reporter begins and ends with the current story, can expect no such privileged relationship.
If you are engaged in activities on the Net that would make certain violent people unhappy, keep it difficult for crazies to find you. The incident of the murdered Coptic family in New Jersey should be a word to the wise

Hey , I have just moved to Sydney , Australia from Los Angeles,CA and I can tell you that you will have a harder time chasing down this reporter than if he did this in the U.S.
This guy just has absolutely no journalistic ethics . He would probably do and say anything to get that next story break on his competition .
I think that this is a civil case.
Unless you can prove to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that he meant harm to you the next best thing is to follow the civil route and try and get money from his employer (his newspaper) and maybe get him blacklisted and/or fired by what you are doing with this letter you wrote.
This reporter is certainly a low life...

My prayers are with you and your family. I appreciate your sharing what happened with all of us.
The winds are going to get stronger and we all need to evaluate everything we do and say to protect ourselves. Make a list of the things you would have to think about if suddenly the world "went to h**l in a hand basket" (as my dear old Dad used to say.).
Thing about how you would deal with things like getting groceries if the bird flu were everywhere and going into a building like a grocery store full of strangers was not a good idea. This kind of thinking can lead you to a lot of other important scenarios.
Shucks, read a spy novel or two and start thinking like you are one John Le Carre's characters and you can trust no one with your real information.

One additional point about Net safety: be careful when commenting on a potentially hostile blog. The blog owner can see the IP address of whoever posts. Given the IP address, the blog owner can (via reverse ARP) discover what that IP address is associated with. If you blog from home, and it's a big ISP, a hostile would have a difficult time finding what specific person is associated with that IP address, unless he has a friend who works for the ISP (not outside the realm of possibility for some jihad groups).
But if you comment from work, the IP address which appears can reveal who your employer is, and a complaint about "hate speech" to your employer can get you into trouble, because it would be easy for your employer's system administrator to find out, through router logs, what PC posted to what site on any particular day

PapaBear good point. There are anonymizer services one can subscribe to to hide your ISP.
Targeting him for his views is the tactics of the left. The same attack was mounted on Virgil Goode. These attacks are meant to subject the victim to fear, as well as subject others to fear.

Gavin King writes as if he has grasped all he really needs to know about Islam by interviewing a group of local Muslims in Cairnes,Australia.
And by those local reflections he amazingly somehow has developed a complete understanding of the inner workings of Islam. Somehow he is apparently convinced that the moderate Muslim world will handle the Islamic radicals among them.
Yes; how dare people like Sheik Yer'mami, or Foehammer evolve themselves in learning about the world of Islam, after all it is the "religion of peace"and we should just take their collective word for it. Mr Kings foolish, and unrestrained ignorance is an example of "trojan horsess" of the worse kind.
How far has this so-called reporter really stepped out of his cubicle to see what is really going on in the world? Someone needs to take him to task on whatever knowledge he has about the true workings of Islam.
When did gaining knowledge in trying to understand something become pure knowledge for hating something?

I worked for a paper and we had to read such "human interest" type stories back to the person it was about, first, before going to press, to check our facts and see if the person objected to details, and then they were re-written, or even scrapped, depending on the subject's feedback.
Sounds like the standards are different, or have changed, in your locale.
King appears to be an irresponsible, weaselish troublemaker.
The Dutch press did the same thing to the pseudonymous author {"Mohammed Rasoel") of the book "The Downfall of Holland- land of the naive fools" in 1990, trying to 'out' him. With the intent of "exposing" his "racism" (and get him in the crosshairs of Islamic retaliation, although the ultra-leftist media in the Netherlands, at that time, denied there was such a thing, although Theo Van Gogh's end has proved otherwise). "Rasoel"'s was fined for "intolerance" and his book was banned.
What about your reporter King's personal life?

When GAVIN KING of the CAIRNS POST in Australia contacted the blogger he explicitly promised in his email that he could keep the bloogers info private. He sent it in writing (see below).
The blogger needs to sue Gavin and go after his license as a journalist. Also we need to find out Gavins address etc and post it all over the net and not forget this story.
GAVIN KING even if you believe that 99.9% of muslims and islam is peaceful you know perfectly well there are enough organized extremists and loose cannon types (like the one who killed Theo Van Gogh) that publishing this bloggers NAME and ADDRESS etc is basically helping to commit murder if they kill him. YOU are an accomplice to his murder Gavin King. I hope you do not get a moments restful sleep for the rest of your life.
Also I think the CAIRNS police should charge Gavin King if the blogger gets death threats attacks at his home, or in person etc by muslim extremists. And if the blogger is killed CAIRNS has to be convicted in accessory to murder.

Sheik Yer'mami and the attack by this journalist remind us of how important this struggle is. The history of the world without Europe would be far different and far worse.
On a more narrow level, a world without the role of England and its progeny would be very much worse. Winning the English speaking world back from the Left is fundamental to the survival of Western civilization and freedom.
This battle is being fought now in forums like this as well as in letters to politicians, public debates, etc. Above all else, we must never lose our nerve. We must not apologize for defending Western civilization. We must not be cowed by the Left and its slurs of bigot, etc.
The Left is saying stifle. When Begala said Virgil Goode was a bigot and idiot, this was staying stifle. They let in the 19 hijackers as legal immigrants after the WTC 93 attack. They view 9-11 2001 as 3000 Archie Bunkers killed. They don't respect us or value our lives or freedom. They don't value who we are. That applies to radical Muslims and the Left.
That is why many leaders in the Islamic world in the 1950's embraced the Left. The Left was against the West, both inside the West and inside Harvard and Yale, as well as in the Soviet Union and China.
They have used assassination to silence critics. They have used government power when they have it. They use the media. This is the media trying to silence the people, their victim.
The people of Australia have been victimized by Muslim immigration just as we were in America on 9-11. That is why Begala called Virgil Goode a bigot and idiot to want to stop Muslim immigration. Begala called Buchanan a bigot in 1992 to get Clinton elected. Then Begala and Clinton ignored the WTC 93 attack to avoid admitting that Buchanan was right.
Its the same in Australia. This newspaper and the Australian MSM have victimized and betrayed the Australian people by Muslim immigration. They have taken away their innocence and safety. They have robbed them of their country. So they stifle those who speak up to complain.
We must speak up more, not less. The risk is still low. Fears of loss of job or life are real. But realistically they are both still low. Not to speak up now is to wait until the risk is even higher. As Churchill said, if we are paralyzed by fear now, there may come a time when we have to fight knowing we will lose because we are only left to choose the manner of our death and extinction, not the occurrence of it.

Here we see the case of a journalist who has consciously offered a human sacrificial lamb to Islam in the form of the person that is Sheikh Yer'mami. The sheikh in question could almost certainly be murdered as a result of this journalist's public revealing of the Sheikh's identity and the journalist defiitely know this from the start--that is why he did this in fact.
This reporter, Gavin King,incidentally is most certainly non-Muslim, and surely fails to realize that showing partiality to militant Muslims wins him no favors within Islam at all--although Muslims can and will make a pretense of looking favorably upon such deeds. Undoubtedly, Gavin King will deny this until doomsday. And he will continue carrying on with the (100% ridiculous) delusion that Islam can be appeased though showing favoritism toward Muslims.
If Gavin King gets beheaded or otherwise offed by a Muslim I won't lose any sleep over it. This guy will have earned HIS assassination all the way to the sacrificial altar.
Mr. King is a perfect illustration of the darkness inherent in both Islam and in being a dhimmi to Islam. And perhaps the worst of it is that King is helping to destroy free speech and freedom in Australia while he is in the process of getting Islamic opponent Sheikh Yer'mami killed.

Islam is not a race and opposition against islam is not from another race (anglos etc) its about freedom and a philosophy that would help to destroy that freedom we enjoy in the West. Mike I agree with you that Gog helps those are active in solving their own problems. Saying "god save the Queen etc" is not a statement that is meant to be taken as "sit on your asses and wait for divine intervention". Its what British and Canadian troops yelled just BEFORE meeting the Nazis on the beaches of Normandy (and other battles). Of course we should fight and never surrender. If the muslims can say 'allah ackbar'as they call on their false god. I can surely call on the true God to help us inifidels as we fight!

PS and just in case idiots like Gavin King would like to misinterpret that: I mean fight as in oppose in every way (getting the word out etc). HOWEVER fighting as in actual war is fine by me --in terms of self defense war is not wrong. If they start to fight us in our own streets like they do in Paris then of course fight and crush these obvious warmongering islamists!

I am not an expert in any country's laws so I'm just guessing now.
It seems to me that it would be useful to gather examples that prove that any reasonable journalist would or should know the dangers associated with criticizing Islam and, therefore, the emotional distress and very real threat he has caused by printing Sheik Yer'mami's name and personal information (after written assurances of anonymity).
If one printed out articles about the obvious examples (Van Gogh, the Pope, Ayan Hirsi Ali, Salman Rushdie, the teacher in Brussels or France who had to go into hiding after writing an editorial -- all people living in non-Islamic countries -- etc.), it would make an impressive presentation to a lawyer (and hopefully also to a judge).
There are other, possibly less-well-known but perhaps still relevant, examples. Jihad Watch or Dhimmi Watch covered a report about the Canadian Muslim Association's application for some kind of protection based on veiled threats they had received (if I remember correctly, they were called apostates and they said that meant they were at risk of being killed). (I tried to do a search but it wouldn't work for me.)
In addition to any punitive damages, the reporter or his employer should have to pay for any costs resulting from this dangerous "outing", such as the purchase and maintenance of a guard dog.

I believe those enamered by Fox News should take heed. News Corp is owned by a Saudi Prince to what I believe is now 17%. Hannity will never discuss the hard issues, and neither will O'reilly. They find their principles begin and end with money and since money comes as ratings and ratings are yet the domain of the dhimmi's on this issue,for the most part, I would not expect much from them. I believe even Robert spoke on this issue a few posts back when he talked about not appearing on those shows.

If you can write to Michael Gove, one of our foremost journalists, and politicians, outlining your story, you'll have a very symapthetic ear.
Of course, you can also write to Melanie Phillips, another sympathetic ear.
At least if your story makes headlines in the British Press, it'll delegitimise Gavin King as a journalist.
You can then sue them for making your identity public, and revealing far too many facts about you as if you were a criminal. What you should also do is report the so-called journalist to the police. Make as much trouble for him as you can, which will cause him to be made an outcast in his own profession.

Now for securing the barn door. Do not trust anybody, but your intuition. The rats of the press are not to be trusted--ever, no matter what comes out of their mouths. Journalists are never to be trusted; politicians--some yes, more no.
Our enemies use fear as a weapon. It is long past time that we make use of that weapon. It can cut two ways. As for that swine King, Tony Soprano would have an answer for that. In case you are unfamiliar with him and his crew, think of what happens to stool pigeons.

The police should immediately arrest King and investigate whether there has EVER been a situation where a muslim has murdered another person for critisising islam, if it can be proved that even one person has been murdered for critisising islam then King needs to be charged for incitement to murder.

Media Watch is, indeed, a selectively left-leaning instrument of Australia's Marxist national broadcaster, the ABC. If you're an openly left-wing journalist, you can get away with murder but right-wingers get savaged. King also took part while working for another newspaper in illegal activities at the Australian-US Joint Defence Facility at Pine Gap, joining socialist anti-war/anti-US demonstrators as an 'embedded' journalist.

As a former Australian journalist myself, I can attest that, sadly, there are no checks and balances and little that can be done to take King, his editor Scott Thompson or the newspaper to account. However, should Sheik wish to pursue some sort of civil action, a word of advice - do not accept a printed apology over going the maximum dollar amount you can screw out of them. I know from my own newsroom experience that accepting the printing apology gets lots of laughs and is regarded as another stupid sucker letting them off the hook.

There is a bit of irony here. I pray it doesn't happen, but if Sheik is hurt or killed, it will validate his beliefs. May those beliefs not be validated.
I'm thinking it might be a good idea to create a fund for the more outspoken critics of Islam so that if the feces strikes the air-circulator, they can hide out for a while. Chill out in the States while stuff cools down. It never will, but the person could at least have some breathing room to resecure his or her life, family and property.
We're all foot soldiers in this battle. Because we have chosen to fight Islam, our lives are already forfeit.
But we've got to soldier on.
Sheik, be safe. In Islam it's okay to accept a tactical defeat to win a war. Might as well use their own practices against them. Hide if you can, there's no shame in it.

For those interested in privacy when commenting or submitting information here are a few tips.
1. Never send any Microsoft generated document. Word files, Outlook email, etc. all have information about you, your computer, IP address, etc. embedded in parts of the file. The safest thing to do is to highlight your text and then copy/paste into web page.
2. Your IP address can be used to find you, particularly if you have DSL or are sending from a company. You can protect and hide your IP address with services that "anonymize" it for you. There are many free services. Search Google with "IP Anonymizer" for free and paid services. Many of these sites have detailed descriptions of how to protect your identity. If you are really concerned then use one that is hosted in a country other than your own. This significantly raises the bar on a legal action since they must get a court order in a different country.
3. In the US, if they allege "hate speech" or "racial" issues they can get the US companies to reveal your information either through intimidation or legal action. Anonymize with an overseas company.
The "vast majority" of Muslims may be peaceful but then so were the Nazis. Little comfort when one of the sizeable minority kills you.
