Pakistani schoolgirls raid alleged brothel, kidnap owner

Here's a story that would make Dinesh D'Souza proud: "traditional Muslims" standing up for traditional moral principles, in a big way. They kidnapped the alleged brothel operator, and then kidnapped two policemen who tried to intervene.

"Students raid Islamabad 'brothel,'" from the BBC, with thanks to Davida:

Dozens of young women from a religious school in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, have broken into an alleged brothel and kidnapped the owner.

The women, from the nearby Jamia Hafsa madrassa, burst in late on Tuesday, demanding the premises be shut down.

The women say they have a right to end immoral activity under Islamic law.

The BBC's Navdip Dhariwal in Islamabad says it is the first time such bold Taleban-style activity seen elsewhere in Pakistan has occurred in the city.

The Jamia Hafsa school has been at the centre of controversy in recent months.

In January, armed students prevented the authorities from demolishing an illegally constructed mosque and occupied a nearby children's library.

They have also demanded that local video owners close their stores....

When the alleged brothel's owner refused to shut the building, the raiding party forcibly shut it themselves and took the woman, her daughter and daughter-in-law back to the madrassa where they are still being held.

Initially the police were reluctant to step in to rescue the woman, but later registered a case and arrested two female teachers of the school.

But students then kidnapped two policemen from a nearby patrol. They too are being held in the madrassa and were allowed to speak to reporters.

"They have not mistreated us, they have served us tea and allowed us to keep our mobile phones," one of them, constable Hamad Raza said, the AFP news agency reports.

Tea. How nice.

...someone should storm a mosque and demand it be shut down....mosques preach hate and violence...brothels advocate pleasure and capitalism....big difference...

Was this one of those brothels specializing in offering virgins to visiting rich Arabs? No, probably not. The Arabs prefer their girls to be non-Muslims. It adds so much to the pleasure. A little symbolic victory, over the Infidels, who allow "their women" (that's how the Muslims think: "our women" and "their women") to be treated so. Of course, there are hundreds of thousands of Iranian girls who have been forced by the conditions of the Islamic Republic into prostitution, and many tens of thousands are now servicing Arabs. And that's fun too -- it's fun for the Arabs to have those Persian girls, those Persian Shi'a girls, to play with and despoil, every which way.

But is this made much of by the Americans in their broadcasts into Iran, to merely report the truth -- a truth which all Iranians have had hints of, in any case -- in order to increase the hostility and rage of Shi'a Persians against Sunni Arabs.

No. Of course not. That would be wrong. That would "increase tension." That would cause "instability" in the Middle East, and we can't have that. We don't want to do anything that would further divide Shi'a from Sunni, Persian from Arab. Nor, heaven forfend, would one wish to make Iranians more anti-Arab, lest some of them also begin to translate their anti-mullah views into something else, into seeing Islam as that "Arab gift" that represents a more primitive people, who brought a "gift" that alas, keeps on giving, and that some Iranians may wish at this point to give back, or throw into the wastebasket of history, and possibly rediscover their own pre-Islamic roots.

Zoroastrianism as the fashionable belief-system of choice? Impossible? A crazy idea? Are you quite sure? Wasn't Bahai'ism a way for both non-Muslims, espeically Jews and Christians, to seek, as it turns out vainly, a way to better their status, and a way for Muslims disenchanted with Islam to find another way, a way that seemed to offer a family resemblance to Islam, and thus perhaps, they may have thought (they didn't know Khomeini or his epigones), would save them from the wrath of true-blue Believers.

Al-Quran

..."You are the best nation brought forth for mankind, you enjoin the good and forbide the evil and you believe in Allah and the last day"...

I guess they are practising this verse....

These scapegoating Muslimas manage to make Hatchet Annie look like a little conscientious lamb. Islamic Supremacy .. it all comes down to hate at the end of the day.

A brothel in Islamabad? How is this possible? Please tell me it was only patroned by non-Muslims, for anything else is nigh impossible in the morally superior societies of Islam. They are not depraved like America you know. This is offensive, deserving of a beheading or two.

Wait a minute. Are there any non-Muslims in Islamabad? There must be, at least enough to keep the brothel rolling along, right?

How the hell is Islam going to rule the world when they can't even rule their own Islamic countries? How can this be so, when it takes a bunch of schoolgirls, covered, veiled and escorted no doubt, to do the dirty work of the mullahs. It is disappointing.

From the headline, I imagined women suffering under Islamic oppression finally rising up and taking control over their destiny. But no, it was Islamic women shutting down video stores, shutting down childrens libraries, forcing the construction of illegally built mosques, and kidnapping police and "immodest" women and holding them hostage. In other words, acting like mainstream, well-adjusted Muslims.

But the carefully selected (and selective) headline looked good.

By the way, how do a bunch of schoolgirls force a group of grown women and police to submit and enter their madrassa? Were the police unable to resist the innocent smiles of the schoolgirls? Did the "immodest" women suddenly realize the wickedness of their ways and go along willingly? OR, did these schoolgirls by chance have any implements that would seem out of place in a Western school, like, say, AK-47's? Not that reporters would think something like that would be worth mentioning.

No. "Schoolgirls raided a brothel". Leave it at that.

Abdullah

What is a brothel doing in Pakistan?
These guys have had 1000 years of Islam, why aren't they pure in intention? And they are mostly Sunni

It does not seem like your religion has had the right effect on them.

special-guest,

"OR, did these schoolgirls by chance have any implements that would seem out of place in a Western school, like, say, AK-47's? Not that reporters would think something like that would be worth mentioning."

The reporters ignored the obvious .. I'm glad you didn't. Hatchet Annie was armed and dangerous too, but much - much - less malevolent.

The red light district in Lahore is quite famous: perhaps Naseem should be out trying to get the girls to be good Muslimas in stead of preaching to us.

Most visitors to Lahore's Heera Mandi aren't interested in the history of this onetime diamond district. Nor do they come to contemplate the baroque façades of the quarter's gracefully decayed, 17th century haveli, or historic residences. Instead, visitors to the Heera Mandi are here for cheap sex, for this is the city's red-light area, and gaudily dressed prostitutes beckon from beneath the battered wooden archways of almost every door. Many are or claim to be descendants of the nautch—the fabled royal courtesans famed for their mesmerizing dances and stirring songs—but the best that any of them can manage today is a few desultory shimmies to a well-worn Bollywood cassette."

Moslems don't need brothels. They just go rape the next hapless woman to cross thir path. See the article on female self-immolation in Afghanistan.

Teheran is full of prostitutes. And young Iranian girls are sent by the tens of thousands to the rich Arab states of the Gulf. This is a matter that could, and should, be emphasized by Western propaganda, to foment fury, by the Iranians, at the primitive Arabs, or to foment fury, by embarrassed Iranians, at their own lords of Muslim misrule who have so mismanaged everything as to create the situation that forces these girls into prostitution in the first place -- not least because of all the money going into the nuclear project, and now, the further sums that will be incurred in order to buy goods and services that the U.N. will embargo.

C'mon, folks. The Pakistani brothel operator was merely facilitating the Sharia compliant practice of "temporary marriage".

"Teheran is full of prostitutes. And young Iranian girls are sent by the tens of thousands to the rich Arab states of the Gulf."

Interesting how a culture that is so hell-bent upon 'protecting women's honor' manages to completely trash females. Interesting too, how they love to refer to perfectly ordinary Western females as prostitutes.

"This is a matter that could, and should, be emphasized by Western propaganda, to foment fury, by the Iranians, at the primitive Arabs, or to foment fury, by embarrassed Iranians,.."

Hugh, your proposal, while worthy in itself, could have the unintended consequence of igniting a mass-murder of all Muslim women - you know, in order to protect their "honor".
