Lebanon's Christians leaving by the thousands

"If we love our children we have to tell them to get out." Islamic Tolerance Alert. "Rise in radical Islam last straw for Lebanon's Christians," by Michael Hirst for the Telegraph:

Christians are fleeing Lebanon to escape political and economic crises and signs that radical Islam is on the rise in the country.
In a poll to be published next month which was exclusively leaked to The Sunday Telegraph, nearly half of all Maronites, the largest Christian denomination in the country, said they were considering emigrating. Of these, more than 100,000 have submitted visa applications to foreign embassies. Their exodus could have a devastating effect on the country, robbing it of an influential minority which has acted as an important counter- balance to the forces of Islamic extremism.
About 60,000 Christians have already left since last summer's war between Israel and Hezbollah. Many who remain fear that a violent showdown between rival Sunni and Shia factions is looming.
"If we love our children we have to tell them to get out," said Maria, a Christian mother of one from the northern city of Tripoli, who refused to give her surname for fear of reprisal. "When my daughter finished her high school I sent her to Europe, and I will follow her if I can."
Christine, another Christian woman, said that all of her family's younger generation had left the country, adding that Tripoli had become increasingly Islamised in recent years. There is a rising number of veiled women and religiously bearded men on the streets - although she blamed economic and political instability for much of the emigration. Christians, who make up 22 per cent of the population, have historically played a major role in the development of Lebanon's political, social and cultural institutions. Currently the president, the army commander and the head of the central bank are all Maronites, and under the agreement which ended the civil war in 1989, half the 128 seats in Lebanon's parliament are reserved for Christians.

The estimate of 22 percent is skewed very low. The CIA Factbook, for example, puts the Christian population of Lebanon at 39 percent of the total.

"Lebanon has always been a bastion of religious tolerance, but now it is moving towards the model of Islamisation seen in Iraq and Egypt," said Fr Samir Samir, a Jesuit teacher of Islamic studies at Beirut's Université Saint-Joseph.
Lebanon's Christian community is concerned that its influence is waning as a result of a continuing internal power struggle, which for the past five months has pitted a Sunni-led government against a predominantly Shia opposition, spearheaded by the Shia militant group Hezbollah. The collapse in influence has been exacerbated by a roughly equal spilt in support among Christians for rival Shia and Sunni leaders. The battle between Muslim factions has paralysed the Lebanese administration and crippled the economy.

A couple of years ago I came upon in this site a time-phased map depicting the ever declining non-Moslem % of total population in the various nations already in, or nearing, Dar al-Islam status.

Anybody recall where that is? It's gonna need updating soon.

Great work on that Mideast Peace accord, Bill & Hillary. It's working out just great. Kudo also for your fine work in the Balkans.

Somehow, Bill & Hillary were even worse on Islam than George. Trouble is, they're on their way back into the White House, so watch out.

Sad fact is that the Maronites and Melkites will run into Muslims regardless of where they flee - France, Quebec, wherever. Maybe Greece or Serbia could take them? How about Russia - settle them in Siberia, away from any Muslims? It will be cold, but at least, they wont be near Muslims.

Infidel Pride

Oh yeah, good point. Indeed our very own Mr. Spencer's grandparents had to leave an Islamic land, but 2 generations later those same bastards (forgive the bad language) are breathing down his neck. The Lebanese Christians will discover that pretty soon. The Copts of Jersey City certainly did. Remember the Armanious murders?

Christians need to fight back. Can someone explain why this does not occur? They are not powerless, but I rarely hear of any organised Christian counter-insurgency to hit back. I am not aware of any significant movement of non-Muslim minorities in any Muslim land where they experience suffering that have organised military operations to counter teh violence against them.

Because Christians are civilized and follow a man of peace, love and mercy, rather than a bloodthirsty pedophile whose demonic cult is bent on destroying the world.

Haidon, you are a traitor to your country and your Christian faith. How dare you come here, Satan-worshipper. "allah" is Satan, muhammed is his mesenger, and you are their lackey.

Lebanon is 22% Christian today compared with 60% Christian in 1960. This change, seen in far less than a lifetime, says it all really, and there are too many stupid fools in the West who scoff at claims that Europe will be Islamised by the middle of this century and hava a Muslim mahjority at the end of it. They trot out the usual line "It's only 5% Muslim so what are you worrying about?" and don't realise that the Muslim population doubles every generation in percentage terms. 5% Muslim today means 10% Muslim by 2032, 20% Muslim by 2057 and 40% Muslim by 2082. And most of the toddlers alive today will still be alive in 2082.

Posted by: Spirit Of 1683 [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2007 5:31 AM

As an aside, if that CIA factbook puts the Christian population of Lebanon at 39.5%, it makes you wonder when it was compiled, and how rapidly it gets out of date. And if the Christian population fought back, they would be condemned as murderers and terrorists by the Islamophilic leftist Western media. Look at how the Christians of Nigeria get treated by our media if they dare fight back against their Islamic perdecutors.

Christians need to fight back. Can someone explain why this does not occur?
By Haidon.

There is no support for the Christians living in Muslims countries from the Christians of Europe, America, Australia and other countries. There is no support from Vatican and other Christian organizations. Mohamed’s cartoons appear in a newspaper and the world is upside down, Christians killed in hundreds or even thousands and nobody cares. Most organized religious leaders consider Muslims leaders as “brothers in faith”. Atheist is more dangerous then a Muslim.
Even here as soon as someone shouts “Allah Akbar”, many start to shout “Jesus Akbar”. Look at reaction of CGW post. He even uses the same language as that Iranian idiot.
Trying to present Christianity as a “religion of peace” does not impress the Moslems. They know our bloody history. I do not care what is in the Bible, only what comes out of it. Have a look at the “Communist manifesto” and “Moral code of Soviet Citizen”. One would have difficulty to argue with any of the statements there and yet we know what was behind it.
As for the “bloodthirsty pedophile”, we can find plenty of those in our history just look at The Saints starting from Constantine.

The situation is appalling. Christianity has enough influence in the west to help fellow Christians in Lebanon, Malaysia, Africa and The Middle East. The reason it does not do it is that as a social movement it is dead, just not buried yet.

"Christians need to fight back. Can someone explain why this does not occur?" -- Haidon

First, relatively few believe in Christianity (terrifying though it be, we live in a "post-Christian world"). Second, there seems little solidarity, even among people with similar world views (each dies alone). Third, Christianity is other-worldly (in this world, not of it), so many have little interest in political/military action against a group that believes, if not in some variation of God, then in the delightful notion of a right to dominate.

America alone? Or each infidel family (or each infidel) alone? The species started with tribes, advanced to nation states, and now... ?

It doesn't help that the American government chose to fight a "War on Terror" instead a "War on Sharia."

We need to make Lebanon a sanctuary for Christians. Christians have been cleansed from all Muslim lands. So there has already been an exchange, just on one side. This means its fair for all Muslims in Lebanon to be deported to make Lebanon a home for Christians.

Muslim governments cleansed Christians from their lands and then funded Christian cleansing in Lebanon as part of the same policy. This makes them doubly guilty. This is the same as Turkey.

The same applies to Jews who were cleansed from Muslim lands. That too is a one-sided exchange. Now all Muslims should leave Greater Israel, which to be viable must include the Golan Heights, West Bank and Gaza. As Hugh points out, it should have included Sinai as well.

The cleansing here is already happening. Immigratin with below replacement fertility here is already ethnic and religious cleansing.

Turkey: Christian Armenian Genocide Sources

Condoleezza Rice is part of the disloyalty mentality in the Bush administration. She is for Turkey in Europe, and Jews and Christians out of the Middle East, by slow ethnic and religiuos cleansing or by fast (Iran and Pakistan's nukes). The same applies to us here through immigration.

The top 1 percent get 20 percent of the income now. It was 10 percent during immigration restriction and 20 percent before that. This is why they do it.

Alarmed Pig Farmer and Paying Attention,

Here's the map:

http://foehammer.net/zenphoto/maps/world.gif

READ BRIGITTE GABRIELLE'S BOOK, "BECAUSE THEY HATE".
She spells out just how the Muslims infiltrated her government by appealing to the sympathetic nature of the Lebanese people. She talks about how the Lebanese Christians welcomed the Palestinian refugees with open arms because that's what Christians do. And then the Palestinians repaid them by worming their way into government positions changing Lebanese laws and waging jihad against the peaceful natives. Now with the Christians leaving Islam can do what it always does after it's oppressed the crap out of a people...push the remaining indigenous people out and create yet another Muslim hellhole. America, are you listening?

I've never been to Lebanon but from everything I've read about it people talk about the breathtaking beauty of the place, before the Palestinians moved in and decided to create their idea of a paradise: bombed out landscaping, KGB style thought police watching the people's every move, endless misery, lots of tears. What should we expect from people who bag their beautiful women so as not to be tempted to sexual debauchery and excess and then turn around and make sex the basis of their strategic planning, a weapon against those who oppose them and their only form of recreation? I think we should stick to artistes and people with a vision instead of medieval neanderthals who never had an original thought in their heads to help us decide what is beautiful and what is not.

The Christians don't fight back because of overwhelming numbers. They also have to contend with the leftists all over the world who hate Christianity, and hope for the end of the true "Religion of Peace", the belief in Jesus Christ.
Why?
They are under "strong delusion" (as foretold)
Also foretold thousands of years ago...the near decimation of Jews and Christians, but a remnant will remain and be "more than conquerors".

(Do yourself a favor and look up the prophesy about the "Golden Gate", the gate has been sealed for at least 1,000 years.)

The Christians who are forced out should be swapped with the Muslims who come over to Europe, it seems the Christians are unhappy so the place left by them should be filled by the Muslims who complain about democracy and want to Islamises Europe step by step through their 'I am a victim, that cross offends me at school.' So we need in theory to get the real victims in instead of the pretend ones, ones who are victims of their religions not ones who come to democracy and pretend Christianity and democracy landed on them.
The next wave of immigrants will probably be persecuted Christians but because people have now complained by the influx of immigration we will end up shutting those on our sides out and harbouring the enemy, that’s the irony of all this.

And another win for the muslism while more Christians flee and I guess they 'hoped' for something to be done, for someone else to do what they should be doing and defending their land and their laws. Israel, at many times, tried to help the Christian Lebanonese military - but what do we see - the muslims gaining and the Christians being totally inept. The UN was positioned in the country - and why? so they could report on when the israelis fought back because they certainly did nothing to stop muslim aggression.

And what did so many do in this country before it became another muslim crud hole? Appeasement, hiding and fleeing from the snipers and bombs, the UN, and now NATO, just sitting by and watching the muslims murder while doing nothing until israel or the locals fought back and then they stopped them - and told us of muslim victims.

Another muslim country, Jordan, kicked out the troubling palistinians while Lebanon did nothing and let them come into their country. hezbollah moved in, and along with the palestinians, all we have seen is violence in the past several decades. Oh, we heard no news on that until Israel fought back - hmmmm, seems like more appeasement by the UN and the West's willingness to glom onto muslim appeasement one more time.

And one last thing before I stop typing - one thing we never hear about in any news is the fact that if anyone was/is injured they can certainly go to an Israeli hospital and get help - the opposite is not true. If one, who is not a muslim, goes to a muslim hospital - you better believe it that they will not be fixed and in fact their life would be in jeopardy. Oh, and that is if you can find a decent muslim hospital anywhere.

Leabanese Christians are slowly being forced to leave a land that has historically belonged to them.

The first attempt to establish a Christian enclave in the Arab-Muslim Middle East was certainly in Lebanon. In contrast to Christians in the rest of the region, the Maronites never accepted the dhimmi status granted by the Muslim caliphs to Jews and Christians living under Islamic rule. Many Maronite historians allege that the first homeland of Middle East Christianity was established as early as 676 A.D. in Mount Lebanon.

Unless there is a strong nation that comes to the defense of Maronite Lebanese Christians, more of them will immigrate out of Lebanon.

Muslims sympathetic to Hezbollah will fill Christian neighborhoods and establish a stronger foothold in Lebanon. The Middle East is slowly becoming more radicalized.

This is not good news for the Jews in Israel.

Perhaps you might like to try that crap, 'give eye-raakiss a better life' Oh give me a break. It is a crusade (so much for peaceful christians)

Back to subject. Those fleeing Lubnaan are looking for better Job opportunities otherwise no point in fleeing Islam. Remember Islam will follow you everywhere till you hug it with heart

Posted by: Abdullah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2007 12:18 PM

Just f**king great. The one country, the one miniscule country in the middle east specifically made for chirstians is losing all its non-muslim population.

And so many in the West still can't see ho wmuch of a catastrophy this is. In the college campus where I live, when Lebanon is even discussed it;s about how horrible the Zionists are to the innocent muslims in Lebanon who only want to protect their homeland, and about how we shouldn't be supporting israel out of solidarity for suffering muslims in Lebanon.

Many Westerners apparently can't even understand conceptually that Muslims really did not belong in Lebanon in the first place and still don't belong there. They have 20 other arab states where Maronites, Assyrians, Copts, Amazigh (berbers) and black africans (christian or muslim) have little or no real rights. The sad thing is that if you would ever actually bring this up among your peers they would likely look at you like one of those white nationalists from American Hostory X. I know at my college they definitely would.

It's really not realistic for Westerners to get ot the point where they distrus the islamic world enough to actually view a every one of 1.2 billion muslims as potential jihadists or terrorists, and it is debatable whether it is appropriate and necessary for us to reach that point. But understanding these basic truths would be a good start.

Then everyone here in the US better pay STRICT ATTENTION to the attempts for immigration reform.

One of the provisions of Flake/Gutierrez is that the President no longer decides the number of refugees admitted to the US, international NGOs do!

Imagine what would be coming to our shores if Iraq or the entire Middle East falls into chaos.

Posted by: treehugger [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2007 12:36 PM

Posted by: treehugger [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2007 12:38 PM

What am I missing here. Somebody here explain this to me. Hundreds of thousands of Christians in Mt. Lebanon are applying to leave(or thinking about leaving): where is Bush? Condi? where is anybody on this??

I'm not trying to slam Bush(at least now). I'm not Christian, but I understand there are Christians who pray daily and others who are more secular. Bush 'appears' to be quite devout, it's in his speeches, reports of his faithfull Church visitation. Why does he not issue permission for these Christians to immediatly enter the US? These are over a million strong, hard-working, long suffering Christians, and(from a selfish perspective) will enrich our country in every possible way. They will be of somewhat unique help in dealings with(and understand of) the Muslim world. The segment of the Christians who are pro-Syrian will get their wish and be excluded.

One hears of causes... save the whales, Darfur, divest from Israel now, global warming. All have passion on their side, some are, IMHO, wrong, some right.

Where is the petition and the rally about the Christians wanting to flee Mount Lebanon??? Where is the rally about the Christians beheaded, crucified, and raped in Iraq????? or there conditions in Jordan?????? Are there any people who have suffered more than these middle-eastern Christians ?????? As the Jew in the coal mine, it is Christians who are getting shafted today to the highest degree(today), not the Jews, not even the long suffering Palestinians.

Something sticks in my crawl here. This piece moves me. Where is the Christians shouting from the highest Church. Let The Christians into the United States of America NOW! Let the oldest Christians into the US NOW ! We could immediately accept the entirity of Lebanese Christians NOW. I'm starting to believe that the thought of Christians fighting for Lebanon belongs a thought that should originate in Lebanon, not from placid US. Ditto, IMHO, from Israel. Make the middle east safe for Islam, then lock the doors to the west!

Don't think we don't know those who hate Islam. It is the Jews and the pagans who hate Islam the most. Those closest to the believers in friendship are those who say, 'we are christians'

Among the christians are also some (a few) who turn to the Jews looking for friendship and alliance against the truth. Tony Blair comes to mind

Posted by: Abdullah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 1, 2007 12:52 PM

"Those closest to the believers in friendship are those who say, 'we are christians'".

Absolutely not. The god of Mohammed is not the GOD of ABRAHAM.

Here's a little wisdom from my prophet Issa.

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.

16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit".

We've all seen the "fruits" of Islam and its followers.

"The corrupt tree that bringeth forth evil fruit".

There is a strain of romanticism in modern (or, rather, new age) progressivism. It takes the view that man is inherently peaceful and that, but for the argumentativeness and bellicosity that stems from various superstitions, harmony would fall generally across the globe.

Imagine, one might say, there's no heaven.

Of course, the reality we live in is quite different. And one can see, whether in a cursory glance at history, or a cursory glance at one's own relations with family, friends, acquaintances, and neighbors, that human beings are not inherently peaceful and harmonious, but are often--across all ideological divides--self-centered, judgmental, and mean.

SO there have been wars at all times, prosecuted by all peoples. There were wars before christianity and islam existed. There were wars waged in both their names. And now we have seen wars and atrocities in the name of anti-religion. Any ideology, if widely spread, will produce its warlords and criminals.

So the question is not simply: what have nominal Christians done and what have nominal muslims done. That way lies an endless regression of tu quoque. There will always be something.

The question is how, over the course of history, Christians and Muslims have used their authoritative texts and teaching bodies to promote certain types of activity and to restrain others, and how their teaching traditions have, over time, embraced and propagated or rejected and abrogated these proclamations. That teaching tradition is the only true measure of whether a religion--as distinct from its nominal adherents--is peaceful (or generous or vindictive or bigoted) or whether it is a cause for war.

Alas, to answer that question requires far more study than mere perusal of a witless parade of news columnists and tv pundits (who themselves, when they are not offering some vacancy that opened up, straight from Spiritus MTV, in their confused and ill-formed minds, are parroting another semi-literate class of failed diplomat or compromised scholar).

The whole point of this web site, then, is to advance and substantiate the case that the Islamic tradition is inherently militant in a way that other major religions are not (and, yes, to illustrate that this tradition has a direct and daily influence on politics, warfare, and other mayhem).

In the time that I have been reading Fitzgerald and Spencer, the case has been put forth quite convincingly.

"You fool, didn't Muslims discover America in the first place?

Maybe not exactly in the first place, but they did eventually. I mean, after the Spaniards, French, British, Irish, Germans, Italians, Jews, Poles, Russians, Chinese …Tibetans…Mongolians, well… after just about everyone else. Which explains why America or at least US is doing so well, as compared to places where the Moslems got first - like Africa, Persia, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and a few other.
There is a striking correlation between islamization of a country and its decay and misery. I am old enough to remember England, Scandinavia, Holland, France before the mohammedan invasion. They were beautiful and FREE countries before the moslem ticks "discovered" and ruined them. The damage the recent Moslem invasion is causing the West is catastrophic.

But as said before, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. The reconquista of the West may start sooner than we dare to think. Once we have the wits and will to round up the ruling Quislings the removal of the Mohammedans will be a piece of cake. And twice as sweet.

There's plenty of room in Canada for the Lebanese Christians fleeing Islamic Imperialism.

It would be a nice counterbalance to the hordes of Sharia-leaners in the Great White North.

The Pope and the Eastern Orthodox leadership do nothing but chit-chat about the problems of the ethnic-Christian cleansing of (originally Christian) Muslim lands as the problem grows worse by the day.

Leave Lebanon if the chaos is too great, and let Islam savage itself.

As it always manages to.

Back then I still thought well.. our govmints must know what tey are doing.. or: They'll assassinate this dog any day now.. or: I am sre if the US or the French don't do it the Mossqad will.

But nohing ever happened and we know the rest.

Among the christians are also some (a few) who turn to the Jews looking for friendship and alliance against the truth. Tony Blair comes to mind".

Jews and Christians who stand up for the TRUTH against the Islamic tayyqia are to be admired for doing what is right.

Adullass,

He immediately went and told the Brits who were more than happy to go slaughter 400 million people

Considering that at the time the combined population of Americas was well under 150 million that was not an easy thing.

I am ashamed of this part of my British history

your "british history"?
You may have a criminal record, but that's not history, you cretin. Besides,I doubt you are ashamed of that.

You will have british history when the Brits will kick mohammedans out of Britain.
Then, as far as Britain is concerned, you will be history.

Abby you're bad case of the "Return of the Mummy".

If *ONLY* we had a real no-holds-barred Crusade in Iraq.. actuall I prefer Swiney-Arabia.. !

Do youeally think what we are doing in iraq is all we can do?

Don't let a Patton run this war! No PC no ROE!!!

We know islam is like herpes - now you see it now you don't.

Of course islam will follow the productive elements who are leaving their death grip. How else will islam EAT!?

No the Swineyarabians are waging money-jihad on us. When the pil runs out they'll cry for handouts and rations. Beyond them to start building indsutries for after they oil runs out.

I hope that the west will still be viable then and that all our eyes will be open as will be our minds.. that we all shall know the truth re. the DEATH CULT of BAAL islam.

So when the oil runs out we nationalize any islamic investments in our lands. Payback for when they nationalized our oil investments overseas.

Then we build walls and use our military to defend Fortress Europe and Fortress America.

No more filights in and out of the islamic world.

We need to divide up the world into islam and NON-islam. Either that or eradicate islam from this planet. That doesn't mean kill alll moslems. It means re-education and de-islamification.

Just FYI, Abby.. we don't kill for fun. We only kill for necessity. These days, sadly, we don't even do that.

I can tell you if we did these British sailors would long be home.

But as said before, the fat lady hasn’t sung yet. The reconquista of the West may start sooner than we dare to think. Once we have the wits and will to round up the ruling Quislings the removal of the Mohammedans will be a piece of cake. And twice as sweet.

Posted by: thomas. h

In order to round up the Quislings we'll need the support of Law Enforcement and the Military. I don't think the time is there yet.

We still have the chancde to make the needed changes by democratic means, but time is running out.

Mass deportations can only be done at the point of a gun. already the guvmints of lebanon and turkey are refusing to take back the garbage that Germany wishes to send back. Ergo they are released among the population and fed on our dime.

Interning them would have the Keft and the media HOWLING!! They'd run the the UN no doubt.

Unfortunately the Lebanese Christians did fight back and were winning until the US and Israel betrayed them. As long as Menahem Begin was Prime Minister in Israel and Reagan was President, the Lebanese Christians had strong support. Then came the the first Bush's war to protect Kuwait and the Saudis from Saddam.

This signaled the end for the Lebanese resistance then led by the Christian Prime Minister Michel Aoun when his Iraqi ally, Saddam Hussein, launched his invasion of Kuwait on August 2 1990. Syria's President Hafez al-Assad sided with the United States. In return, the United States agreed to support Syria's interests in Lebanon. On October 13, Syrian forces attacked the presidential palace in Baabda, where Aoun was holed up, and he fled to the French ambassador's residence. After that, Israel also ended support for the Lebanese Christians and left them at the mercy of Hezbollah. Even Aoun has been forced into Hezbollah's arms.

Allahfanculo,

I assume “by democratic means” you mean through decision and actions of the democratically elected government. Correct? Then I am afraid it will never happen.
After five decades of relentless leftist indoctrination the religion of the western man, including the so called conservatives is liberalism. That is fact even though he may not even be aware of it.
He believes that multiculturalism is the unavoidable next step in the development of human society - a rule of nature. Something you can’t question or fight against unless you are suicidal, or wicked. The very idea of closing the west for immigration, or making discriminative immigration laws designed to keep the Moslems out, is not so much inconceivable, as virtually all Europeans fantasize about it, but something an average European will never admit having. These are western man's "dirty dreams" and he will never admit having them. A political party which goes for mass deportation of Moslems has not a chance to form a government and enforce its program despite the fact that the majority would love to live in a Moslem-free country. Except that they have been brain washed to think that such desires are terribly wicked. Only very few and at considerable risk, sometimes to their life, question and reject that dogma.
But if tomorrow a group of dedicated army officers, let’s say in Sweden, arrests the government imposes martial law, declares return to true national, traditional ethos and values, reverses all steps imposed by the left for promotion of multiculturalism, insists on assimilation of the aliens, prohibits political islam and deports all Moslem unable, or unwilling to follow the new social order, the overwhelming majority would never protest. The coup makers would provide it with the moral alibi and the western man would happily grab it.

About mass deportations. Virtually all Moslem world lives of the western dole. Do you think that if the governments of say Egypt, Jordan or Pakistan is told that the condition of our continuing aid is that they accept their coreligionists back would they be able to refuse? We could also give a fixed amount of money to the Moslem governments for each returning Moslem to make his accommodation easier. It all boils down to the stick and carrot philosophy. Make the West as unattractive to the Moslems as possible and their return to the Planet of the Islam as appealing as possible. It is only a question of will and money. We have an ocean of money. It is will that we lack. For the time being.

The tragic situation of the Christians in Lebanon may be instructive for those of us in the West. The Lebanese, having enjoyed freedom and a beautiful culture, were open to everyone and any one. Perhaps they assumed that even muslims would relish living in a free, open, educated, cultured society with a TRUE Middle Eastern heritage at least somewhat unsullied by the death cult of Arabia.
The Muslims - even when encountering freedom, do not choose it. It goes against the grain of their entire upbringing.
Unfortunately Lebanon, a truly beautiful paradise of a land is now liable to become as desolate, ugly, dangerous, impoverished and dull as the rest of Dar al Islam.

100 years ago the city of Damascus was about half Christian.

And, by the way Abdullah, the Arabs who discovered America were the hard-working Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian Christians who began arriving in the US over 100 years ago. They built beautiful Churches, contributed to American culture, assimilated into American society while retaining their distinctive worship and traditions.

There is no resolution to the "mideast crisis" under the sun. It's a good time to pray. And it's a good time to remember the REAL martyrs of the Middle East: the men and women who gave up their lives rather than deny their Faith - as opposed to the crazed devils who kill innocents while they blow their own asses to hell. Imagine what kind of society calls such criminals by the name of "martyr." Yeeech!

Is there any place in the world where muslims are a majority and live in peace with nonmuslims with benefits for all?
Instead to allowing christians (and any other nonmuslims) to live separated from islam followers, leftist utopians despeartely try to impose a model of joint life anywhere in the world. Separated from nonmuslims, muslim may start to wonder about islam and its faults (although I highly doubt on that-Cyprus, India etc examples). Instead, forcing infidels with joint life with muslims just feeds already enormous muslims theoryes of conspiracy, and gives them their blatant excuse that not islam but anybody else is to be blame.
Just like in everyday life, lazy man always have an excuse for lazyness. But, that can never be his fault.

Everything I see by Muslims is parasitic; they find history they rewrite it in their minds, or convert a church building or take the template of another established religion such as Christianity and change it to suite the forgotten Arab voided bloodline. Take inventions that our spiritual God has inspired its believers through wisdom and the Holy Spirit as theirs. Liberation of thought that even Christianity had preached with tolerance towards others but keeping its dignity as theirs when they clematise a degree or so in the west.

I see if the world becomes Islamised and they outbreed the rest of democracy all of today’s history will be lied about, they will say they invented all modern technology and medicine and that we were also Muslims once but unguided ones and say all the lands were theirs as Allah approved. It’s a Star trek Borg assimilation of history and cultures that will be stripped off its historical truth and be Islamised as it once was in history as it continues to be so with factual denials, we see this now by the Muslim posters here. Its like they live in the land of fiction one that is greatly forced upon them to keep them mummified. I wish the west could stop giving the middle east sympathy towards the victims of Islam and let the victims grow to protest and over throw it, its not our job let the victims and those fed up speak up. I guess they do by leaving the country so that only shows Islam has won and we end up with the problems in our lands, ones that grow to terrorism and erosion of its founding Christian heritage as a step towards victory over the infidels way. An irony that helps them live better than their escaped and forgotten situation of the nations that could not provide for them, nations failed by the Islamic love for its people.

Many "Arab-Americans" in this country are, in fact, not Arabs at all, but rather, the descendants of Arabic-speaking Lebanese Christians, especially Maronites, who left what was then the Ottoman Empire, from the 1880s on, for the United States,, Australia, South America, even West Africa, because they sensed that they could elsewhere overcome the heavy hand of both Muslim Turkish overlords, and the threats (which in Damascus, in 1860, had resulted in massacres of Christians) of the kind the Christians in Iraq are now facing, and that were for 1300 years a permanent feature of the lives of all non-Muslims under Muslim rule.
Some of these people do not realize this; they confuse the use of Arabic with being an Arab – and linguistic imperialism, which accompanied the spread of Islam (for the Qur’an must be read in Arabic, and the Arabs always regarded themselves as being superior to all other Arabs precisely because the Qur’an was given to them, “and in your language” for “you are the best of people.”
Joseph Farah, in fact, is not an anomaly but a truth-teller who has not forgotten history. He is grateful to America, and in that gratitude reminds this reader of Salom Rizk, author of Syrian Yankee, who like so many who arrived between 1890 and 1930, with the words “Syrian” or even “Turk” stamped on their passports, were in fact Christians escaping from the Christian destiny of dhimmitude.
If one looks at these original immigrants, and their testimonies, one finds nothing like the disloyalty being exhibited by so many Muslims, who identify not with the Infidel nation-state in which they live, but with Islam and only Islam, to which all their loyalty is exclusively given. In the 1930s and 1940s, Lebanese Christians often sided strongly with the Zionists. One might consult the statements of the Bishop of Beirut, Ignace Moubarac, who saw clearly the intertwined destinies of the Jews of Mandatory Palestine, and of the Christians of the Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East. Some of Moubarac’s remarks (and he should not be confused with the sinister islamochristian Abbe Yoakim Moubarac) can be found in Bat Ye’or’s study, “Islam and Dhimmitude.”
In “Syrian Yankee” Salom Rizk, who was an orphan, remembers the difficult lives of the Christians, threatened constantly by the Druse (who also inhabited the mountainous areas of The Lebanon) and of course, by the Muslims of the cities. Rizk remembers the generosity of the American welcome – a generosity that earned his loyalty. His memoir, which in the light of the inculcated malevolence of some now calling themselves “Arab-Americans,” shows his hatred of Hitler, his sympathy for the Jews (including the Jews of the Middle East), his awareness – not based on a knowledge of canonical texts, but on the remembered experience of living with Muslims), and above all, his devotion to the United States. One might compare Rizk’s memoir with the hatred that squirts from under every word of Qutb, who lived in America for several years in the late 1940s and was outraged by everything he saw, not least by the surpassing “immorality” of a church-sponsored square dance.
It is always curious to run across those who have forgotten why their own parents, or grandparents, or even more distant ancestors, left whatever they left, to come to America. I know of refugees from Soviet Russia whose own children know nothing about Communism, and seem to think that Soviet Russia’s wickedness is greatly exaggerated. There are refugees from Iran, living in the major cities of the West, whose own children seem not to know that their parents were persecuted by mullahs, and who have become completely alienated and disgusted with Islam, but find that sometimes their own children, misguidedly seeking some kind of “return to their roots,” will take up Islam with a fanaticism that can only horrify their own parents, who were themselves victims of the belief-system of Islam. Curious that these roots-seekers do not go back far enough, beyond Islam, to the Christianity, or Judaism, or mostly the Zoroastrianism, that predated the bloody arrival of Islam with the victory over Rustum at the battle of al-Qadasiyya.
Farah remains true to the spirit of Rizk. He knows why Christians from Lebanon, and elsewhere, came here – even if some of their descendants do not. When James Zogby heads the “Arab-American Anti-Defamation Committee,” and works to preventing the effective administration of the Patriot Act, he is not acting as his own ancestors would have wished, in making Muslim efforts at subversion, and conversion (da’wa) easier rather than harder. Perhaps he does not understand, or fully appreciate, his family’s history. He might read, with profit, Bat Ye'or's "The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam.” He might read any of the essays by the articulate Habib Malik, who has repeatedly explained what Islam means for non-Muslims (Malik is the son of the most celebrated Lebanese Christian statesman, Charles Malik). He could also read the most comprehensive study of the legal status of non-Muslims under Islam, that written by the late Antoine Fattal, “Le statut legal des non-Musulmanes au pays d’Islam.” Zobgy, and those who seem to imitate him, owe a bit more to their own ancestors, and a lot less to the Muslims who did not wish, and do not wish, the Christians of the Middle East well, no matter how cleverly they manipulate and exploit them, as front men in the Jihad – and not only in the Jihad against Israel.
Joseph Farah expresses the views of many people, of course. One does not mean to suggest that he expresses the views only of grateful Lebanese Christians. In fact, his views are those that were once the common currency of all grateful immigrants, and of those of their progeny who had the wit, and the intelligence, to compare life in America with what they would have had, had those ancestors stayed home. But surely he does speak as well for the Arabic-speaking (but in most cases not Arab, for they predate them) Christians of the Middle East. It is he who has things right; Zogby who reveals an ignorance of, or indifference to, his own own ancestors, and their travails over centuries; such an ignorance, and such an indifference, is not pleasant to contemplate. T

And if the Lebanese-Americans should not be tricked, or trick themselves, into supporting “Arab-American” causes which are really promotions of an Islamic agenda (unless they wish to betray their own ancestors), they might also consider a recent doctoral study by Franck Salameh, a Maronite, demonstrates the ways in which "Arabness" was imposed on those who came to use the Arabic language, and who were forced to forget, or made to forget, or tricked inito forgetting, that they were not Arabs -- for how many "Arabs" after all really existed, to settle among the far more numerous, advanced, settled populations of Christians and Jews in Mesopotamia, Syria, Judea, Egypt, and North Africa. This will not prevent many people from thinking that they are partly "Arab" (instead of, say, people whose ancestors were conquered by the Arabs, and forced to use the Arabic language, and then were convinced that they were "Arabs" themselves. When Maronites suggest, perfectly correctly, that they are “Arabic speaking” but not Arabs, rather the descendants of Phoenicians, this is all treated as a joke – but why? The Phooenicians did not die out. Christianity came to Lebanon before Islam. Those Christians did not die out – obviously they were the descendants of somebody, and had it been of the Arabs, they would undoubtedly have been Muslims. No Maronite Christian, whatever his facility with Arabic, is likely to be an Arab, even if he finds that he is called, or has for a time called himself, an “Arab-American.”
When the Zogbys of this world speak more of Damur than they do of Sabra and Shatila, when they wonder openly why the Christians in Iraq are under attack, or remind us that the Arab Muslims in Sudan have killed nearly 2 million Christians, when they recall the massacre, in 1933, of the Assyrian Christians, when they make the cause of the persecuted Copts their own, when they help to educate Americans with no Middle Eastern connecton about the institution of dhimmitude which follows upon the Jihad-conquest, and imposes, or attempts to impose, on all non-Muslims a status of humiliation, degradation, and permanent insecurity – which is precisely why the Maronites managed to survive only by retreating to the mountain fastenesses, and why the Syrian Christians, for example, survive only because they once enjoyed the protection of the French, and now they enjoy the curious protection of the Syrian military dictatorship, because the Alawites who suppy the military caste are themselves regarded as not quite-orthodox Muslims because of their cult of Mary or Maryam, no doubt a holdover from the days when Syria was, like most of the MIddle East outside the Arabian peninsula, peopled by Christians.
Those whose Christian ancestors, a generation ago, or a century ago, left the lands where anti-Infidel persecutions and intermittent riots and massacres put the lives of those ancestors in constant peril, owe it to themselves, and to their fellow Infidel Americans, to listen to Farah and to Salom Rizk before him, and not forget that history, and come to believe that their real loyalties must lie with Islam, and the Muslim agenda that is, in the MIddle East, promoted by those Christians who, especially in the Palestinian Authority, have out of generations of internalized dhimmitude, taken to poromoting the Arab agenda. Naim Ateek, Hanan Ashrawi, Michel Sabbagh, and the gun-smuggling icon-stealing Hilarion Cappucci come to mind.
To identify with those who now run the varous Arab-American organizations, rather than such samaritan and truthtelling groups as the American Lebanese League, to forget or never know what Habib Malik and Antoine Fattal and Antoine Sfeir and many others have offered, in their own way, about how Islam treats non-Muslims (or look at the testimony of Nonie Darwish, or Walid Shoebat, for the testimony of those, even among the "Palestinians," who converted to Christianity in this country, and having sloughed off Islam, began to see things clearly, instead of through the glass of Islam, darkly). How people like James Zogby can turn their back on their own ancestors, or make up a mythical world of Muslim "tolerance" of Christians ("dhimmitude" has nothing to do with Western ideas of "tolerance") to justify to themselves the compromises they have made, in order to salve their consciences and keep receiving their salaries -- well, that is quite a puzzlement. And the descendants of those Arabic-speaking Christians, Copts or Maronites or Syrian Catholics or Greek Orthodox, who may, or may not, be lumped with others as "Arab-Americans," should ask themselves if that is a designation that truly describes them, that fits their own self-definition, or whether it simply imposes, on these shores, the expansive definition, provided by Arab Muslims, that insisted that anyone who used Arabic had, of course, to be called "an Arab." That this was a deliberate act of effacing the histories of non-Arab Arabic-speakers can be seen in the recent (1989) Taif Agreement, by which the Syrians and the Saudis forced the Lebanese to put a clause in their constitution calling Lebanon, for the first time in history, an "Arab country." It stuck in the craws of Lebanese Christians, but they were helpless to oppose it -- and not least because the American State Department, in the person of David Satterfield, present at Taif, seemed to think it was a perfectly innocuous clause. It was not.
Farah cannot be fooled. He knows too much. And that does not exhaust the list of his virtues.

Abdullah Dude:

No, America was discovered by Aliens from the planet Crypton. They left two peices of Cryptonite on plate earth to scare away Superman. They left one peice at Area 51 and another at Mecca. Fortunately for us, there were some Native Americans who found the Area 51 piece and threw it into the Grand Canyon. But the piece in Mecca is still there (It's the rock the Muslims cirle seven times to worship). This also explains why Mecca is the vortex of all the evil in the world and why it is totally void of peace, justice, and the American way.
