Australia: Muslim group angered by visa ban on jihadist Sheikh

You knew this was coming, didn't you? More on this story: "Muslim group rejects visa ban on sheikh," from Australia's ABC News Online, with thanks to JE:

The Islamic community has questioned the Government's ban on Canadian Sheikh Bilal Philips, who was to speak at the first Australian Islamic Conference.

Sheikh Philips was invited to attend the Melbourne event over the Easter weekend but his visa application has been refused on security grounds.

The president of the Federation of Australian Muslim Students, Chaaban Omran, says the sheikh does not promote terrorism and the ban on him is unjustified.

"He has written a number of very good books to do with Islam about character et cetera ... and it just seems ludicrous that you ban an individual but you don't actually ban his books," Mr Omran said.

You're right about that, Mr. Omran.

The government said there are over 3 million on an international watchlist.Given that the United States co-operates on these matters with Australia it would not surprise me if this particular individual is on the U.S. watchlist as well.

The Muslims have the option of buying a plane ticket to go where ever their beloved is speaking...

Robert, Bilal Phillips is bad. Drawing attention to him wherever he goes is good. 'Nuff said.

3,000,000 on some international list!

But we've been assured that it is only a tiny minority!

One supposes that many of the names came from intelligence gathered from captured computers, etc.

Here are some names to put on a watchlist (I'm sure there are a whole lot more), and if anybody has any one of these names as a part of his name, deny him entry into Australia (and a whole number of other places worldwide):

Abdul
Abdullah
Ahmad
Akbar
Azhar
Faisal
Ghazi
Hamza
Hassan
Hashmi
Hussein
Ibrahim
Ishaq
Jamal
Jehan
Khalid
Mahmoud
Mohammed
Mubarak
Nasseem
Nur
Omar/Umar
Qutb
Sayid
Shahid
Yusuf
Yaqub

Let him in and welcome him with a 20-gun salute!!
I'd like to invite a Special Serbian Guard just to make sure the Aussies get it right.

Just answering the query of the poster above , the 3,000,000 figure was reported by the broadcast media here in Sydney,Austrlia .They were quoting a source from the local Federal Police ( an orgization with the powers of the FBI + DEA ) .

I would say this individual is on Canada's watchlist eventhough he's a Canadian citizen. Intelligence agencies around the world co-operate in information gathering and exchange.

The list probably contains known terrorists , their supporters or anyone that could potentially fit these criteria. They use profiling to tag these individuals.

Allahfanculo

You are a sack of s***. Do everyone a favour and kill yourself, instead of writing statements which promote genocide. It never ceases to amaze me, Robert pleaseds with people to write measured comments and then people like you, never listen. You are a sick human being.

I'm Muslim, just try and bring your 20 gun salute to me. Please... I'll give you an address.

Hi Haidon how are you doing? Youre in NZ I remember, I am in Sydney. I have been paying attention. I agree with you about Funculo, he says filthy things and no one seems to care.

I hate reading suggestions of murder.

No, I am not a Muslim, anyone who wants to accuse me of being one. I am happy about my Christianity FYI.

Love Robert's and Hugh's work. Hate some of the "posters" comments

Here are two rally organizers (Mike Staunch and Shemon Salam) trying to defend themselves, but they ended up being really offensive:

There is also a story posted on littlegreenfootballs about the rally.

THE OFFENSIVE GROUP WHO ORGANIZED THE RALLY, "ANTI-RACIST ACTION" (ARA), IS MADE UP MOSTLY OF NON-STUDENTS, AND THE GROUP OPENLY CALLS FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL AND AMERICA.

Anti-Racist Action can be contacted for interviews at wsu_ara@yahoo.com.
