KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Islamic authorities took away the baby of a Muslim woman who is living as a Hindu in defiance of the law in the latest case of religious conflict straining ties in multiethnic Malaysia, officials said Friday.Revathi Masoosai's 15-month-old daughter was taken by the Islamic Religious Department in southern Malacca state on March 26 and handed to Revathi's Muslim mother, said department enforcement officer Mohamad Imran Ahmad.
"The baby's grandmother has custody of her for now," Mohamad Imran told The Associated Press.
Revathi, an ethnic Indian, is being held in a rehabilitation center run by Islamic authorities for her religious transgression. The baby was with Revathi's husband when she was seized. He has filed a police complaint, but it was not clear if he plans to take the case to court.
Meanwhile, the baby will stay with her grandmother. "When the baby's mother is released, she can try to regain custody if she wants to," said Mohamad Imran without elaborating.

When you want to tight a knot - looks for generations of muslim women,not coverted soul,under certain hardships or any depressions they would returned to their former creets.Ones should be reponsible from beginning and to end of the topics or answerables life after. Thus ones would face miserables - problems in life,to get married is not only to lure your evil desires but carry on ones future generations,under muslim law she should be terminated of disannounces Islam,such cases or similiarly happened here....eventhough heard of MALAYSIA BOLEH

Actually, the evidence points to thenotion that the West Malaysian Penninsula is even worse, in fact a lot worse, than Indonesia. In Indonesia, with the exception of Coastal areas in West Java, Makassar and Aceh, at least has a substantial number of muslims who are attempting in earnest to reverse the Islamization process, (NU and Wahid Institute come to mind), as well as muslims in areas like East Java or Sulawesi or Kalimantan who are basically animist but muslim in ID. Moreover, in places like Aceh it has been suggested thatWest malaysia is behind the Shariah and other crisis there, helping to inflich the Shariah specifically against the will of the local population. In West Mlalaysia, there seems to be few if anyone trying to reverse the Islamsit movements and the whole penninsula is quickly becoming an East Asian Saudi Arabia or Iran.
So Malaysia, you really suck. No doubt about it.

When the mother is released?!
if she wants [to regain custody]?!
Now they will have the supposed justification to prevent the reunion of this unfortunate baby and his mother by either not releasing her, or by claiming that she doesn't want the baby.
