Baghdad Jihadists Tear Down Crosses From Assyrian Churches, Tell Christians to Convert or Die

No offer of dhimmitude for them. "Islamists Tear Down Crosses From Assyrian Churches, Tell Christians to Convert or Die," from AINA, with thanks to Andrew Bostom:

Baghdad (AINA) -- An unidentified Islamic group has been threatening the Chrisitan Assyrians (also known as Chaldeans and Syriacs) in the Dora district of Baghdad, a traditionally Assyrian area. The Islamic group issued an ultimatum yesterday to Assyrian families, telling them to leave Christianity and convert to Islam within 24 hours or they would all be killed. The Islamic group also issued a fatwa (a religious edict) to confiscate the property of all Christians, to force Assyrian women to veil themselves, to forbid genuflection (making the sign of the Cross) and the wearing of the Cross.

Earlier the same Islamic group forcefully removed the Cross from the churches of St. John and St. George. An affiliated Islamic group in Northern Iraq occupied the Assyrian monastery of Raban Hormuz.

The persecution of the Assyrians in the Dora district has been relentless:

* March 18, 2007: Muslims Force Assyrians in Dora to pay a 'Protection Tax'
* November 8, 2004: Two bombs exploded outside two churches in southern Baghdad quarters of Dora. Three people were dead and around 40 to 50 injured.
* November 2, 2004 An unidentified group surprised and fired upon an Assyrian family in Dora, Meekanik quarters, south of Baghdad. 'Alaa' Andrawis (b. 1965), his wife Evelyn Malkizdaq, and their 10-years old son were shot at while in their car.
* October 21, 2004 Layla Elias Kakka Essa (aged 30s), a translator in the Assyrian quarters of Dora, was shot and killed.
* October 16, 2004 The St. Joseph church in Dora is hit with a bomb, along with four other churches in Baghdad
* June 11, 2004: Four masked men entered the Assyrian Christian district of Dora in a civilian sedan and opened fire on the Assyrians, killing four and wounding several others.
* March 22, 2004: An Assyrian Elderly couple, Ameejon Barama and his wife Jewded, were brutally murdered in their own home in Dora. The husband's throat was slashed and the wife was struck repeatedly to the head.

Well, looks like the Presidents plan is coming together nicely.
Why is his claim that Islam is a noble religion of peace hijacked by terrorist the only thing he says they dont question?

Since they already consider us "Christian Crusaders" in Iraq, it's time to put some of the "Crusaders" around these communities and keep away the jihadist maniacs.

Enough of the pussyfooting "Religion of Peace" stupidity.

Put the crosses back up and shoot to kill any terrorists attempting to intimidate.

"An unidentified Islamic group "

Here, let me identify that group for you: Islam. That's the group, and they are 'only obeying orders (from Allah)".

seeing how the only thing these animals in human form understand is terror perhaps it's time Christians in Baghdad armed themselves and Fought back and for every Christian killed retaliate shooting 100 Muslims and make them so feared by the terrorists that they would not dare do anything

These people are actually violating Muhammad's command to treat assyrian christians well (a firman he released before passing away).

The lethal attacks on five churches in Iraq violated the stated will of the prophet Muhammad, who in the 7th century issued a Firman
—or letter of protection — for Assyrian Christians.

Assyrians make up the majority of the 700,000 Christians in present-day Iraq. Muhammad was so impressed with their ancestors' knowledge of medicine and the sciences that he decreed for them to be left in peace, according to Albert Yelda, formerly the Christian representative in the leadership of the London-based Iraqi National Congress.

The Firman disappeared without trace in 1847, Yelda told United Press International. Assyrians believe that the then-Turkish rulers
destroyed this document before setting out to kill 30,000 Christians.

Joseph Yacoub, a political science professor at the Catholic University of Lyon, France, fears that the coordinated car bombings of churches may accomplish what Muhammad had tried to prevent. "There exists a definite risk that the Christian presence will be reduced to a level of insignificance," he told the French newspaper, Le Figaro.

"So far there had just been attacks on Christian individuals," this leading expert on Middle Eastern Christianity continued. "But now
the bombers have taken on the entire community. Their message is clear: This is Muslim territory; it does not belong to you."

Thus one of the most remarkable set of Christians is once again threatened with extinction. The Assyrians, of whom there are 1.5
million worldwide, are descendants of one of the oldest civilizations: Mesopotamia. Almost three millennia ago, they excelled in astronomy, jurisprudence, the arts, architecture, medicine, and the natural sciences.

Assyrians were the first nation to adopt Christianity as their state religion in A.D. 179, more than a century before Armenia. They
claim to have been the first to build churches and to translate the New Testament from Greek into their vernacular — Aramaic, the language of Christ.

In the 8th century, not long after Muhammad's death, Assyrians were the first to send missionaries to China, Mongolia, and even
Japan. They were Nestorians, heretics in the eyes of the rest of the church because they followed the teachings of Nestorius, a
5th-century bishop of Constantinople who taught that the Virgin Mary was not the theodokos, or mother of God, but simply the mother of Jesus Christ.

This fine point of theology has long ceased to stand in the way of Christian unity in Iraq. In the 16th century, a major segment of the
Nestorian church united with Rome while retaining its ancient liturgy. They are now called the Chaldean Church, to which most
Assyrian Christians belong.

The remaining Nestorians are on excellent of terms with the Chaldeans, while maintaining different traditions. Their liturgy is
extremely "high;" yet their incense-filled sanctuaries appear as stark as synagogues or Reformed churches.

There is no iconostasis — a partition or screen decorated with icons separating the sanctuary from the rest of the church.
There are no graven images. A simple cross above the altar is the only adornment of a Nestorian church. Nestorians call their priests
"rabi;" like orthodox Jews they eschew mixed marriages.

While the Assyrians lived in peace for much of the first 11 centuries since the Muslim conquest of their homeland, martyrdom has been their fate for the past 150 years.

The massacre of 30,000 Christians in 1847 was succeeded by another in 1896. In 1915 the Turks slaughtered not only over one
million Armenians but also 250,000 Assyrians, a fact seldom mentioned when the first holocaust of the 20th century is being
discussed.

There are still some old men alive in Iraq who were forcible converted to Islam in their childhood but remained Christians in their hearts, fasting during Lent and making merry at Christmas, Easter and Pentecost.

During Saddam Hussein's dictatorship, the Assysians' persecution was in a sense more of a cultural than a religious nature.
"Tyrants hate minorities," said Yelda. Hence Saddam had hundreds of Assyrian villages razed, including one 2nd-century church. He also banned the Assyrians' cultural clubs where they had kept their literary language alive.

But in Saddam's days, too, Muslim mobs terrorized Iraqi Christians, beheading on August 15, 2002, a Chaldean nun, Sister Cecilia Hanna, whose monastery they had stormed.

Like their cousins, the Jews, Assyrians are now scattered around the world. Almost 300,000 went to America, primarily the Chicago area. Others live in Jordan, Australia, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

It is with a heavy heart that Pope John Paul II reacted to the news of the murderous attacks on Iraq's churches by stressing his
closeness to the marvelous and venerable Christian culture, which is at the point of oblivion.

The letter:

A Letter from the Prophet Muhammad To The Assyrian Christians

“God has told me in a vision what to do, and I confirm His command by giving my solemn promise to keep this agreement.

To the followers of the Islam I say: Carry out my command, protect
and help the Nazarene nation in this country of ours in their own land.
Leave their places of worship in peace; help and assist their chief and
their priests when in need of help, be it in the mountains, in the
desert, on the sea, or at home. Leave all their possessions alone, be
it houses or other property, do not destroy anything of their
belongings, the followers of Islam shall not harm or molest any of this
nation, because the Nazarenes are my subjects, pay tribute to me and
will help the Muslims. No tribute, but what is agreed upon, shall be
collected from them, their church buildings shall be left as they are,
they shall not be altered, their priests shall be permitted to teach
and worship in their own way-the Nazarenes have full liberty of worship
in their churches and homes. None of their churches shall be torn down,
or altered into a mosque, except by the consent and free will of the
Nazarenes. If any one disobeys this command, the anger of God and His
Prophet shall be upon him.

“The tribute paid the Nazarenes shall be used to promote the
teachings of Islam and shall be deposited at the treasury of Beth
Almal. A common man shall pay one denar (piece of money), but the
merchants and people who own mines of gold and silver and are rich
shall pay twelve denars. Strangers and people who have no houses or
other settled property shall not have taxes levied upon them. If a man
inherits property he shall pay a settled sum to the Baitulmal treasury.
The Christians are not obliged to make war on the enemies of Islam, but
if an enemy attacks the Christians, the Muslims shall not deny their
help, but give them horses and weapons, if they need them, and protect
them from evils from outside and keep the peace with them. The
Christians are not obliged to turn Muslims, until God’s will makes them
believers.

“The Muslims shall not force Christian women to accept Islam, but if
they themselves wish to embrace it, the Muslims shall be kind to them.

“If a Christian woman is married to a Muslim and does not want to
embrace Islam, she has liberty to worship at her own church according
to her own religious belief, and her husband must not treat her
unkindly on account of her religion. If any one disobeys this command,
he disobeys God and his prophet and will be guilty of a great offense.

“If the Nazarenes wish to build a church, their Muslim neighbors
shall help them. This shall be done, because the Christians have obeyed
us and have come to us and pleaded for peace and mercy.

“If there be among the Christians a great and learned man the Muslims shall honor him and not be envious of his greatness.

“If any one is unjust and unkind to the Christians he will be guilty of disobeying the Prophet of God.

“The Christians should not shelter an enemy of Islam or give him
horse, weapon or any other help. If a Muslim is in need the Christian
shall for three days and nights be his host and shelter him from his
enemies. The Christians shall, furthermore, protect the Mohammedan
women and children and not deliver them up to the enemy or expose them
to view. If the Nazarenes fail to fulfil these conditions, they have
forfeited their right to protection, and the agreement is null and void.

“This document shall be entrusted to the Christian chief and head of their church for safe keeping.”

Posted by: Haidon [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 15, 2007 10:51 PM

Lebanon is the sanctuary state for Christians, but only if we abandon Iraq. If our soldiers stay and fight, we should arm the Christians and train them.

We should have armed the Christians when we got there as our plan. They and the Kurds are our main allies there. We should stop funding the others, and just arm them.

What can one expect from you, Abdullah? No matter what happens no muslim will accept responsibility for anything they do,,even if they pee their own pants!

You are some helluva hateful, nasty little twit!
You may well try your stupid "divide and conquer" routine, but guess what?

It will unite ALL other religions against your death cult.

Is this the Iraq that was the dream of the Coalition of the Willing? This is awful, as sheer hatred threatens to kill people who have lived in Iraq and descended from peoples that long precede Mohammed. Germany was de-nazified, Japan was also deprogrammed, or at least re-programed away from militarism to productivity. All the middle east seems to have the ability to do is kill, destroy and terrorise. Instant refugee status should be granted to any Christian under threat in the Middle east, and then let them blow each other up as they are so expert at doing, their only 'talent' the moslems there seem to have.

""Islamists Tear Down Crosses From Assyrian Churches, Tell Christians to Convert or Die,"

......It is this attitude towards religious plurality that has seen the virtual extermination of the Non Muslim religions in Muslim held/controled lands....

....It is what you can expect to hear once the Muslims take over your lands....

....As these hectic days roll on, it appears that physically fighting them may be the only option....

" Instant refugee status should be granted to any Christian under threat in the Middle east..." -from above

I don't live there. I am not subjected to the same trials that Assyrians and Nestorians in Iraqare, that Maronites in Lebanon are and that Armenians in Turkey were before they were exterminated in that country. But is running away the answer?

Is there any jope or possibility that stability and security can be truly established in this part of the world through the declaration of non-Moslem enclaves? What's the worst that will happen? Endless warfare on the part of jihadis, attempting to recover lost territory, essentially duplicating the Israeli situation throughout the Middle East? Would the institution of non-Moslem governments increase or decrease stability in that part of the World? Would it protect or expose innocent non-Moslems in that part of the world? Would Western interests be advanced or not? Would funding for jihad possibly be diluted in multiple efforts? Would prosperous non-Moslem polities discredit Islam as an ideology?

It's time to consider multiple, non-Moslem homelands throughout the Middle East.

WAT_123,

OT, Nice post, but I thought that the original Bible was in Aramic first before it was translated to Greek. Care to enlighten me? I'm just curious.

Looks like Abdullah is back with bold letters showing us all what an ignorant sot he is. Keep it up Dude, I could use a laugh.

Posted by: never_submit [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 16, 2007 3:02 PM

One more thing Abdullah,

Christians don't worship a cross. The cross is a symbol of what Jesus did for us. It reminds us that Jesus died a horrible death to redeam humanity...that includes you too if you'd ever give it any consideration.

What did ol Mo ever do for YOU? Oh, silly me! Mo was too busy murdering, steeling, having hallucinations, and boinking prepubecent girls.

I don't need the violent, humiliating death of an innocent man to redeem my sins. I instead call on Allah (whom u call the father) in heaven to forgive me for my wrong doings directly

Posted by: Abdullah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 16, 2007 4:55 PM

Abdullah Dude,

Too bad for you then...you will never understand what makes Christians tick. Have you ever even bothered to read a Gospel or two? Or are you afraid you might be influenced? I truely beleive it is that lack of understanding like yours that results in the hateful murders and spewing bile that comes from your barabric Islamic mentality. What do you think you will accomplish on this blog? You sure aren't winning any converts.

Posted by: never_submit [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 16, 2007 5:23 PM

No Abdullah,

We don't call Allah the Father. The Father doesn't teach love, understanding, compassion and forgiveness on one hand and then murder, mayhem and rape to force conversions on the other. You need to know who you are praying to, buddy. Allah is known by his fruits, and he's nothing more than the same being he always was, the father of lies, the prince of this world, a created being who can create nothing (hence his bitterness and hatred toward the true God) but can only destroy, and destroy he does.

You of all people do need the Son of Man to redeem your sins, but not just because He died a humiliating death; because He died a humilitating death and then came back to life just like He said He would. When your dead pedophile prophet can do that, give us a call and we'll talk.

Impossible. God sent His Son (from the foundation of the Earth) to die in your place and you refuse the gift. There is no forgiveness of sin without the sacrificial Lamb. You will never be good enough of your own merit.

You people say Jesus died and he rose back to life after three days of being dead? Right? Offcourse thats what you bribe hungry africans and asians with....So when Jesus according to you was dead for x amount of time, who was running the affairs of the world? Who was listening to the crying, the sick, who was creating life and taking it away? Who was looking after the world?

Answer me? The father in heaven? Wait a min, is that another god? I don't like two gods, one living and one dead....

I seek refuge in Allah from sinful lies against Him or any of His messengers

Posted by: Abdullah [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 16, 2007 10:59 PM

Abdullah,

Jesus Christ is true God and true man. Only His human body was dead. As God He could never die so He was still running the place.

Who listens to the crying and the sick when you are chopping off heads in the name of Allah? Who listens to the crying Muslim woman who is trussed up, dumped in a hole and being half buried so you can stone her with lime-sized stones so that she doesn't die too fast and it's really, really painful?

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 16, 2007 11:19 PM

Abdullah,

Oh Blah, Blah, Blah. What can't you answer my questions? You can't, or are you afraid? I think it's both. Go hide behind your hatefull teachings of your trashy book and your religious leaders then. Hide well, and stay out of my culture.

"Offcourse thats what you bribe hungry africans and asians with..."

Posted by: Abdullah..

...giving people hope, honesty, and charity is far better that what the Muslims give the Africans/Asians....you know, the machete to the neck, bullet to the head, bomb to the house, and death to all who refuse to submit....

continuing point made by exsgtbrown: Christians offer charity without discrimination to anyone in need, no strings attached. Example: Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who NEVER pressed anyone to become Catholic. She saw pain and suffering and her natural, instinctive response was direct acts of love; she did so because her faith taught her to see the likeness of Christ in every human being.

See Gospel of Matthew chapter 25, 31-46, perhaps the most famous parable of the Last Judgement. The 'Son of Man', Jesus, says to the blessed: "Come, O blessed of my Father...for I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me'. The righteous respond in great surprise: "Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and feed thee?...". He answers them, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me". In other words: Christians believe that Jesus the 'Son of Man', the Anointed One, identifies himself in this parable with ALL people in need; 'these my brethren' has been traditionally interpreted as meaning not only the Jews (his earthly kin), nor just Christians (his spiritual brethren), but ALL HUMAN BEINGS. So: Christians who hid Jews during the Shoah; Christians who care for fellow Christians everywhere, in all sorts of ways; and Christians who gave generously to help suffering Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists after the Indian Ocean tsunami, were all motivated by this parable, seeing in their suffering fellow humans the face of the one we call Lord. How could we not respond with love and charity?

Posted by: dumbledoresarmy [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 17, 2007 10:41 PM

"How could we not respond with love and charity?"

How could we not, indeed. Dumbledore, I think that may be the most frustrating part about dealing with committed Muslims. Who is my neighbor? Everyone, including Muslims. Who are Muslims enemies? Everyone, except Muslims. We teach our children in America and Europe to considerother people's feelings and rights and Muslims teach their children that it is to correct to hurt, humiliate and kill anyone who is not a Muslim.

Why do our leaders think that those facts are not a recipe for disaster?

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at April 18, 2007 10:07 AM

Isn't is amazing how muslims mindlessly offend billions of Christians and then offers Satan (whom muslims call the allah) as an alternative.

Islam is a culture that does not advance, it merely consumes.

Islam is a culture that does not create, it only usurps.
