Note also that May 5 is the anniversary of the liberation of the Dutch from Nazi occupation, and that is the date set for the "conference on the Palestinians and Europe in Rotterdam." Gee, I wonder why?

The Dutch government on Monday ruled out a visit by Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, saying he will not get a visa because the European Union considers his Hamas party a terrorist group.Haniyeh's office contacted the Dutch government to enquire about documents needed to request a visa as the Palestinian premier wanted to attend a conference on the Palestinians and Europe in Rotterdam on May 5, a spokesman for the Dutch Foreign Ministry said.
"He will not be granted a visa, should he request one officially," the spokesman said. "Hamas is considered a terrorist organisation by the European Union."
"It is consistent not only to avoid contact with Hamas ministers but also not to let them come to the Netherlands or anywhere else in Europe and spread the message of Hamas," he added.

It was the secretary of state Maxime Verhagen who denied the Hamas premier an entrance.
Verhagen is a member of the christian CDA party. This party and the other protestant christian party CU are against the visit of the Hamas premier. The third coalition partner, the socialist PvdA, said (who wonders?) that he is welcome.

I am glad that someone is growing a backbone - finally!
I just learned today that in my brother's neighborhood their city council ok'd a mosque.
He wrote to me and said he was thinking of moving out now.
Well, I told him he could stand and fight this thing (like a man) or flee like everyone else does. One day he will leave the fight to his children. But, he tells me that it is not only a done deal - they are starting to build. The city slithered this deal in like a slug. City councils do that - but it is usually because of an apathetic citizenry.
I didn't know what to tell him. I probably would be buying a pet pig and walking it every day.
