Today Associated Press reports that the Swiss Criminal Court on Friday 27 April released details of its April 2, 2007 acquittal of a 29 year old North African.

The man had been arrested together with a seven man cell planning a rocket attack in 2005 against an El-Al airplane landing in Geneva.

Despite throwing out the terror plot charges, the criminal court ordered the Algerian man be kept in detention because of charges that he carried out thefts in Switzerland and sent the money he gained to a terrorist group in Algeria via France.

So is this man innocent, or was the verdict just another case of political expedience?

No Negotiations

The meeting between Christoph Blocher (Minister for Legal Affairs considered 'right wing' -HSF) and Muslim organizations will not take place. Is this good or bad?

What would have been there at all to discuss?
Perhaps, the discomfort of Muslims with our secular society?

Or the critical attitude of our media and public against the headscarf and the requirement for women to cover their faces? Well, our society happens to apply equal rights for men and women.

Should the requirement for girls to participate in gym and swimming lessons have been discussed, because it undermines the authority of fathers? Well, here in our country the right of a woman for self determination happens to start with equal rights for boys and girls at school.

Or should even the distrust have come up for discussion, of so many in Switzerland against Islam, which results in the rejection of mosques? Well it just happens that authoritarian ideologies run into opposition here, be it – like not that long ago – communism, be it ecclesiastic fundamentalism, or be it exactly, Islam.

Whoever elects our country as a host land, whoever migrates to us from another culture in order to live in the Swiss democracy and in the Swiss constitutional state, needs to adhere to our political culture and our laws. With no arguments!

No Muslim association here can squabble with whatever administrative authority on anything they don’t happen to fancy. The theocratic and patriarchal caboodle of this religion is nor relevant for our legal and political system.

On the other hand, our legal and political system is relevant upon Islamic doctrines which collide with democracy and constitutional statehood. This applies above all to the systematic discrimination of women through the Quran and Sharia.

For what are veil, chador and burqa? Not simply symbols of belief, as multi-cuti romanticists wrongly claim. They are shackles and gags disguised as garments for women, visible expressions of female suppression and their domination by males. Therefore unacceptable!

Similarly unacceptable is the patriarchal legal philosophy of the Muslim set of beliefs. The custody rights of men over women, right down to the right for physical chastisement.

Unacceptable, finally, is the rule of fathers and brothers over daughters and sisters, which reaches into forced marriages – and even to honour killings.

There is nothing to negotiate about, over these anachronistic regulations, rights or rituals. Our democratic and legal system does not offer religious discounts.

Those who infringe on our laws, citing Muslim legal norms and traditions, should be dragged to court – and this also, when a breach of law is perpetrated against wives and daughters entirely in private – through oppression and violence in the home.

This is the framework of our open society. Within this framework – and only in this framework! – may everyone in his own manner be blessed. Each shall partake in bliss according to his fashion, “Jeder soll nach seiner Facon selig warden” as Friedrich the Great decreed in 1740 for his reformative progressive Prussia.

Friedrich the Great likewise coined the following phrase: “All religions are equal and same, if only people would so profess, were honest, and if Turks or heathen came to populate the land, we will build mosques and churches for them. “«Alle Religionen seindt gleich und guht, wan nuhr die Leute, so sie profesieren (öffentlich bekennen), erliche Leute seindt, und wen Türken und Heiden kähmen und wolten das Land pöplieren (bevölkern), so wollen wier (für) sie Mosqueen und Kirchen bauen.» For the rest, Prussian law was rigorously applied.

And so in this manner, shall we uphold it. He who comes with his beliefs to integrate in our social order; i.e. if he rescinds his beliefs where they collide with our law, he may have his mosque, just as the Christians have their churches and the Jews their synagogues. – And just as the irreligious have their peace of all these obscure spells.

This just proves where Haniyeh and the PA authority have a significant chunk of change deposited. The Swiss probably have them in special jihad accounts instead of just Christmas savings.
