Muslims unite on YouTube to censor the truth

The Atheist Jew (thanks to Jan) has the story:

From Digg News:

Muslims on YouTube have formed several groups where users and videos that criticize Islam (which they define as "Hate Speech") are listed and mass-flagged as abuse. YouTube seems to remove videos and sometimes even ban users automatically. Muslims claim that they only flag videos that have violated YouTube's TOS, but this has been been proven false.

A group on Youtube called United Muslims put up a hit list of Youtube members they wanted to ban. The thing is, that they can't handle the truth. Sure, some of the videos go overboard, but so do many anti-Christian, anti-Israel, etc. videos that don't get banned by agenda. And as far as I'm concerned, shouldn't get banned. I've even seen Holocaust denying videos on Youtube. I'm all for free speech, and as I've said before, the nuts (like the YECs) will find that the internet is their worst enemy.

Meanwhile, this video is apparently just fine with YouTube. Note also the virulent Jew-hatred in the comments on both places where it is posted. And there's this also: "Spencer is just his screen name last name is Jacobsen. His father was Aaron Jacobsen from Tiberias Israel." Sorry, fellows, my name is really Robert Spencer, and I am not Jewish, and my father's name was not Aaron Jacobsen. Your ideas that being Jewish discredits someone, and that only Jews oppose jihad and Islamic supremacism, reveal a great deal about you.

And while I am proud to stand with Israel against the jihad, the resistance to Islamic supremacism involves far more than resistance to the jihad against Israel. By your hatred and violence, by your self-righteous intransigence, by your consistent disregard for simple human decency, you are raising up multitudes -- Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, whatever -- who will resist you to their last breath.

I've already pledged to fight tyranny of any form to my dying breath. So I guess I'm on board as well.

Also this wholesale censorship doesn't sit well with me at all. First and foremost Youtube's servers are based in America, so if it came down to it the owner's (Google) could cite first amendment rights as a reason to keep these videos up. Secondly it's the internet, one of the last true bastions of free speech, if we take that away then what?

The good news is that there are other search engines out there. For example there is dogpile.com to name one example. This is the best protest against Google is to use other search engines.

Yup, me too.

I find Copernic isn't a bad search engine. The basic version is free. Canadian I believe.

So much of this reminds me of the "gag rules" (1836-1844) re abolition or anti-slavery speech prior to the Civil War, when anti-slavery speech was suppressed by the slave holders in the South and in congress. The attempt was made to make anti-slavery speech illegal. Anyone who criticized slavery was accused of fomenting divisions and hatred. But over the long run this alarmed people who might have been indifferent on the slavery issue, but who became very upset at the attempt to stifle criticism of slavery, to silence the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions on the issue. Criticism of slavery was "hate speech".

The irony of the attempt to stop free speech on the slavery issue was that it convinced many that "the slaveocracy" (as J.Q. Adams called it) was a threat to the freedom of all Americans-and not just an issue re the people held in bondage. Many anti-slavery people (North and South) came to believe that slavery would only be removed from America by force because of the attempts to stifle argument on the issue.

The Muslim attempt to stifle free speech is causing a similar alarm in America. They fear any critical analysis of Islam and attempt to suppress it as "hate speech".

If Muslims learn anything from American history, they are going to learn that the attempt to silence critical analysis of Islam will back-fire big time. "The Slaveocracy" as Adams called it, learned that lesson in their attempt to silence anyone who critically analyzed their belief-system. Americans want critical analysis of things and will not allow it to be silenced as "hate speech" by a minority of people who fear critical analysis.

"By your hatred and violence, by your self-righteous intransigence, by your consistent disregard for simple human decency, you are raising up multitudes -- Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, whatever -- who will resist you to their last breath".-Robert

There is a great similarity between JihadWatch and the anti-slavery-watch tracts of the pre Civil War era (Garrison's Liberator, e.g.). The attempts to suppress criticism of "the slaveocracy" (as Adams called it) are also similar to the current attempts to silence criticism of Islam. But nothing did more to open eyes (in America) to the danger of "the slaveocracy" as did the attempt to suppress critical speech re slavery. That hit home.

Posted by: Frank [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2007 4:50 PM

Interesting analogy there, Frank, with the anti-slavery speech issues & current events; thanks.

I PRAY Americans still have it in them to want "critical anyalysis of things". PC-formed Americans, sadly, seem not to.

Posted by: Vee [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2007 5:53 PM

Vee-

We do value the free and open exchange of ideas and opinions and critical analysis of issues. They really are out of touch with American history on this matter. We are not going to submit to their gag rules. People want critical analysis on issues here. Old (former President) Mass Congressman John Q. Adams fought like a tiger (at first practically alone) for eight years to get rid of the "gag rules" re slavery. The attempt to stifle free speech on the slavery issue back-fired big time. It was the "hate speech" issue of its time. The attempt to silence all criticism of slavery in America did much to harden opinion against "the Slaveocracy". Americans started to see that the issue was a threat to all Americans, not just those in bondage.

God bless America. Free speech forever. We must never submit to gag rules.

Posted by: Frank [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2007 6:30 PM

Holy crap Frank, I never learnt this in my American History classes. I feel cheated.

Posted by: wrathofasma [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2007 6:31 PM

Page 523 The Oxford History of the American People:

"Every attempt short of personal violence was made to silence, to censure, or expel Adams; but the tough old Puritan persisted. Public opinion in the Northern states finally forced their representatives to support him, and in 1844 the gag rule was repealed. It made no difference to the slaves, but the eight-year controversy had educated opinion on both sides of the cold war as nothing else could. The South learned that she needed more weight in the councils of the nation by annexing Texas certainly, perhaps Cuba, and Mexico perhaps; that slavery's banners must fly not only over the Capitol but on the high seas and even in the free states, where discussion of the subject must be stifled. The North began to see that the price of union would be surrender all along the line of the "slaveocracy", as Adams called it, and that this surrender would involve rights for which their fathers fought".

The attempt to silence criticism on this matter made Americans realize that the issue went way beyond the Americans in bondage. The slave holders in the South (who were a minority of Southern whites) simply could not allow the free and open exchange of ideas on the issue. That hit home.

I suggest- You Tube is turning out to be the ones that should be targeted!! What a tool just as they said they will do on tv the other night. Use the Internet! All propaganda! Again they ruined another part of our dailey living! They should go to the air waves! I hear you can say any thing over there! What is free speech? Say you don't have a tongue? Without Liberty?

From QubeTV

If you're not already familiar with Qube TV… you should be! This "conservative YouTube," if you will, is trailblazing the way for conservative New Media. The vision of the three-week-old venture is to be a communal place for conservatives to gather without the fear of censorship or the concern that their news, ideas or videos will be suppressed or flagged as hate speech and deleted into thin air.

Shouldn't be difficult to start an alternate You-Tube like service, or better still, append such a service to projects like FaithFreedom, Islam-Watch or even this site. All you need are terabytes of hard drives, but with that being available plentifully these days, I doubt that that's a problem.

Any volunteer blogs willing to cache the vast array of anti-Jihad videos currently on Youtube, and then let Youtube delete them? That way, this will be safe, and Mohammedans will be unable to tamper with our material. Need to protect our IP rights.

I think that to understand the crisis atmosphere in America prior to the Civil War, it is necessary to understand the attempt by the "slaveocracy" to silence all critical analysis of slavery. They (the pro-slavery elite of the South) wanted all debate, all criticism of slavery, banned. There were even calls to shut down Slavery-Watch style outlets (Garrison, e.g.) in the free states. The issue of the free and open exchange of ideas and the right to critical analysis of anything became very important as part of the larger issue of slavery. John Quincy Adams was very brave on the issue. He struck a great blow against tyranny in his relentless support of free speech and an end to gag rules.

The issue of the free and open exchange of ideas, the attempt to shut down critical analysis as divisive speech, was an issue that back-fired for the slaveocracy. The attempt to silence critical analysis of Islam will similarly backfire.

BTW, the same argument that was used then re critcal analysis of slavery, that it would drive the "moderates" into the camp of the "extremists, is used today re critical analysis of Islam. As one historian pointed out, it was like blaming the people who criticized Hitler for causing the Hitler to become aggressive. There were appeasers then, but John Q. Adams was not one of them.

I think a movie should be made of this period in Adams life. He was magnificent.

Bacon Eating Atheist Jew,

Been over to Youtube.com, using the URL and believe me, and I do this shaking my head in disbelief the fighting going on by members of United Muslims, etc., to attack non-Muslim videos that stand up to Islamic facism. This war could be the downfall of YouTube.

Posted by: bigcatgirl13106 [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 14, 2007 11:51 AM

They are very well organized, aren't they? Any whisper of criticism and they cry "hate speech" in droves.

How can believers in free speech counter this? Muslim publications spew venom at the West, at Jews, at all us "infidels" and we have no control over what they print or post; even real history such as the Holocaust is denied; false history regarding "the State of Palestine" and "no Muslims piloted the 9/11 aircraft" is disseminated -AND BELIEVED!!- all around the Middle East. When you ask a Muslim why he believes it "it's in the papers, everybody knows it's true." My only defense of my position is "I know what I read in MY newspapers". I'm not a direct witness of anything newsworthy! How can an individual counter their groupthink? How can we demonstrate that our "truth" is "real"?

These people have been taught all their lives that theirs is the perfect belief system and their prophet is the perfect man. How do we make them really look at their lives, the corruption of their leaders? And how do we convince them that the problem is within Islam, and not "out there" in the rest of the world which is "conspiring against" or "attacking" Islam?

That's why my hiatus from Altavista was so short!

Posted by: kafir_kelbeh [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 14, 2007 4:26 PM

A_Nonny_Mouse-

The answer is critical analysis until they don't know whether to crap or wind their Mickey Mouse watches. Theodore Weld describes the 75 year old John Quincy Adams defending free speech, critical analysis, as the jackals circled him:

"....Wise of Virginia, Rayner of North Carolina, W. C. Johnson of Maryland, and scores more of slaveholders, striving constantly to stop him by starting questions of order and by every now and then screaming at the top of their voices: "That is false"! "I demand, Mr. Speaker, that you shut the mouth of that old harlequin!" A perfect uproar like Babel would burst forth every two or three minutes as Mr. Adams with his bold surgery would smite his cleaver into the bones. At least half of the slaveholding members of the house left their seats and gathered in the quarter of the Hall where Mr. Adams stood. Whenever any of them broke out upon him, Mr. Adams would say, "I see where the shoe pinches, Mr. Speaker, it will pinch more yet!" "If before I get through every slaveholder, slave trader and slave breeder on the floor does not get materials for bitter reflection it shall be no fault of mine."

So much for gag rules and speech codes. Muslims beware of your harassment of John Does, your fear of critical analysis of your belief-system, for before all is over you will have materials for bitter reflection re the truth, the painful truth, the truth that bites, that will bite your heads like a tight shoe on Ibrahim Hopper's head, as all truth re Muhammad is shouted from every rooftop.

Posted by: DefenderofIslam [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 14, 2007 8:00 PM

DefenderofIslam,
What on earth is a Muslim doing dealing in words like bigot and hatemonger? A religion whose adherents are taught to despise non-believers and feel nothing but contempt for the culture of others is virtually the embodiment of institutional bigotry. Teaching perpetual aggression against the rest of the human race until they tow the Muslim line is guaranteed to generate a hatred (you no doubt hope, of the 'let them hate me as long as they fear me' variety). You use those particular words because your crude sensibility has grasped that they press western buttons, at least with the progressive thinkers you wish to have on your side for the moment - not because they have any real meaning to you. You hate people who tell the truth about your malign cult the way white maggots hate the sunlight when someone turns over a rock. Your bigotry won't allow you to see that non-Muslims lead freer and more productive lives because they are not saddled with the incubus of your malign creed.

wallyUK-

We see that the shoe pinches when it comes to the truth with Mr. Defender. Everything J.Q. Adams said was the truth in his time and that's why the slave holders desperately wanted to silence him, and also silence so many others. They dared not debate Adams. Sound familiar?

Okay. I admit it. My father's name was Yossel Rosenblat. :) There is a plethora of vicious anti-Semitic garbage available on YouTube. No amount of protest seems to get that removed.

Right wing extremists have commonly labeled people such as Eisenhower, Stalin, even Hillary Clinton etc., etc. as Jews. Notice the affinity of nazism and fascism with radical Islam? Both employ similar tactics as well as an obsession with THE JOO.

There is a direct relationship between hatred of Jews and hatred of freedom.

Posted by: desertdawg29palms [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 16, 2007 3:58 PM

This does'nt surprise me in the least and something I've suspected goes on not only on Youtube but also Metacafe.
Anyone who has the Application installed that auto-downloads new videos will see many "Love Islam" posts (especially Word docs) The worst being videos of terrorists in Iraq shooting at American and British troops...The comments from Muslims of course are along the lines of "Excellent video"
What worried me most on your site being in the UK is the Islamic courts appearing in the UK (No mention in our press or TV surprisingly)

Going off the point there slightly but YES, It won't stop me posting Youtube videos, Even if my account is suspended, It's easy enough to open others.

Alf.
