Early in Al-Hurra's life I met with an official of the network, and we had a wide-ranging and detailed discussion which appeared to be most promising. But I never heard from them again, and they clearly went in a direction much different from the one which I had suggested, which was much like the one ably delineated by Hugh here.

Al Hurra television, the U.S. government's $63 million-a-year effort at public diplomacy broadcasting in the Middle East, is run by executives and officials who cannot speak Arabic, according to a senior official who oversees the program.That might explain why critics say the service has recently been caught broadcasting terrorist messages, including an hour-long tirade on the importance of anti-Jewish violence, among other questionable pieces....
Or maybe Al-Hurra officials are just too naive, too trusting, and too filled with Armstrong/Esposito nonsense about Islam to be anything but asleep at the wheel.
"How does it happen that the terrorists take over?" asked Rep. Gary L. Ackerman, D-N.Y., at a hearing last Wednesday of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee he chairs. "Is there no adult supervision?"...Also, the network's news division also had no assignment desk, he said. That left decisions over al Hurra's content in the hands of its reporters and producers, who are, according to Blaya, hastily-hired Arabic-speaking journalists with insufficient understanding of Western journalistic practices or the network's pro-Western mission.

As Joel Mowbray pointed out in OpinionJournal.com, the credit for this allegiance to the Jihad goes to former CNN producer Larry Register, who took over the network. Since he took over, al Hurra has featured interviews with Hizbullah leader Hasan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniya. He'd need to be beheaded, I mean fired, before any new direction can be expected from this Arabic edition of PMS, I mean PBS.

Probably because you are an uneducated hick who has not spent any time understanding who the enemy is and how they think (hint: It is Islam you moron). How can you direct soldiers to fight if you are not sure who they should fight? You do realise Ackerman that is not just a physical battle but a propaganda battle?

The morons who run this mess don't speak the languages involved, don't vet the programs before they go out, and can probably barely endorse their fat, useless paychecks.
If al-Qaeda ran it, it couldn't be any worse for our global image ...as incompetent, naive, delusional fools.

Al Hurra television was a good concept, but when you have Imad Musa (formerly of Al-Jezeera Tv fame) as producer and Larry Register as director (formerly of CNN fame, you know , the Bush Bashing CNN network), things tend to go downhill quickly... It like you put Al-Zawahiri and Akmadinejad in control of your main battle tank which in behind you....
Al Hurra televison differs little from Al-Jazeera television...both are produced by Muslim loving producers...and Bush hating directors...
...both poor choices for a televison network that should be used to broadcast anti-jihad news and to broadcast positive news for the beleaguered victims of the Muslim onslaught...
Al Hurra Television is drawing raves from the Democratic led congress...should not surprise anyone....
