More taxi Sharia, this time Down Under. "Taxi drivers refusing to carry blind passengers," by Heath Aston for The Daily Telegraph, with thanks to all who sent this in:
TAXI drivers regularly refuse to carry blind passengers with guide dogs - including Australia's Human Rights Commissioner - with many citing religious reasons, or other excuses like allergies.Human Rights and Disability Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes, who is blind and reliant on his guide dog Jordie, is a regular Sydney cab user and said he was refused service on average once a month, including twice in two days recently.
He has been told on a number of occasions that it would be against a driver's religion to allow a dog in the cab.

What God has cleansed call thou not common. What could be a better form of animal life than a dog trained to aid a blind human?

Just another sign that this world is going to the dogs :)

The muslim fear and hatred of dogs is one of the reasons I hate muslims - and love dogs.

I have a paki-muslem coven that lives on my street and the family patriarch always coughs and sneezes when I walk my gentle, and adorable dog by him dressed in his traditional paki-PJ outfit. While he says I have a 'wonderful dog' , he also feigns 'allergies' as the his for maintaining a 20 ft. safe perimeter between his pious self and my 'spiritually unclean' canine. I have vowed that my next dog shall be named 'Mohamed' in this taquija spewing, weasel’s honor.

A bit more from the article:
'TAXI drivers regularly refuse to carry blind passengers with guide dogs - including Australia's Human Rights Commissioner - with many citing religious reasons, or other excuses like allergies.
Human Rights and Disability Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes, who is blind and reliant on his guide dog Jordie, is a regular Sydney cab user and said he was refused service on average once a month, including twice in two days recently.
He has been told on a number of occasions that it would be against a driver's religion to allow a dog in the cab.
Mr Innes has also been refused by drivers claiming to be allergic to dogs - or afraid of them - and was even left clutching at air on busy Market St by one belligerent driver who told him he had to take the non-existent cab in front.
Mr Innes yesterday received the backing of Vision Australia (VA), which said taxi drivers refusing to carry blind passengers with guide dogs happened with "too much regularity".
VA policy and advocacy head Michael Simpson said that the problem was worse in the Sydney metropolitan area where there were more drivers unwilling to carry dogs based on Muslim objections.
'It is fair to say that the (Islamic) religion has made the problem worse in the metropolitan areas than regional areas, where I've found taxi drivers are generally excellent,' he said.
Mr Simpson, who has been blind for 30 years but uses a cane instead of a guide dog, said he was refused service at the airport because his two companions had dogs.
'We asked the driver for his accreditation number and he gave us the wrong one,' he said.
'It was only because an airline staff member had accompanied us that we got the right number and could properly complain about being refused.'"

Muslims fear dogs, because the Muslims cannot not forceably convert dogs nor collect Jiyzah from them...and the dogs understand the difference between a loving master and a cruel master....

How about muslims form their own cab company? Except it propably wouldn't make much money since they couldn't allow on board people with dogs, unveiled women, women unacompanied by men, Jews...

This is how we handle it. http://www.smh.com.au/news/NATIONAL/Taxi-drivers-warned-over-guide-dog-rules/2007/05/24/1179601552528.html
I also liked what the spokesman of the Taxi Association in Sydney here said on TV. "Either change your religion or find a new job".
Here here..

"How about muslims form their own cab company?"
....now, there is a novel idea!....they could paint a picture of a burka babe holding an AK47 on the cab, just to warn people their money is unwelcome...that this cab driver has no need for there business...and in fact, this cabbie has no need for them period....

A Muslim-run, Muslim-owned cab company, clearly identified as such, would be wonderful. Let Infidels then be allowed to choose to whom to give their custom. I managed in New York a few weeks ago to take very few cabs, and those I did take were, by driver and by atmosphere, entirely haram.

Stop complaining about creeping sharia and do something about it.
Write to the newspaper: scoop@smh.com.au
I just sent this:

Just “Taxi drivers?” Who write this piece? Are you joking? Don’t your journalists know anything about Islam? Why is not the religion named in this article, the religion which believes dogs, as well as pigs, are unclean? The facts are being distorted by this omission. There is a serious issue of creeping sharia law in the west, which is going unreported in the mainstream media because most journalists are ignorant of Islam, its history and proscriptions, or most editors prefer to tow the politically correct (but in the long term damaging) line.
I suggest your journalists take the effort to study Islam, the Quran, the hadith, and the sira, and stand up for civil liberties against a culture that doctrinally and in practice discriminates not only against dogs (sounds ridiculous I know) but non-believers, women, gays, and Jews. There are a growing number of cases in the US of Muslim taxi drivers refusing to take passengers that don't conform to their religious beliefs: passengers with alcohol, dogs, unaccompanied women etc. This is another case of one religion – specifically Islam, NOT Christianity, not Hinduism, not Buddhists, not Judaism, not any other religion – dictating to us how we ought to be living. Where is the context of your news, which we are owed by virtue of the importance of basic civil liberty? It is shameful to omit this context.

Or send an email to the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission at: complaintsinfo@humanrights.gov.au
I just found a press release called "Its a guide Dog Mate" dated March 6 touching on this case - so this case is not exactly hot off the press - which you can access here:
http://www.humanrights.gov.au/media_releases/2007/13_07.html
Time to get active and stop using this forum to just whinge about Islam.

the solution to this is simple - on an international level, refuse to take a cab driven by a moslem.
boycotts can work wonders - and not just by agrieved protected species.

or stand at the cabbie station carrying a sign that states "Muslim Cab Driver" with an arrow pointing to the cab....let the buyer(or customer in this case) beware....

Call the dog Alla (without an h)
They will go crazy

how about naming the dog Faarooq:
Faarooq meaning "He who distinguishes truth from falsehood "
Dogs are very good at recognizing lies (believe it or not)....

Descendantofacrusader, dogs being the kind of animal they are will eventually answer to more than one name. Our dog Murphy will come when he hears "Dammit." Start calling your dog Mohammed anyway. Sort of a nickname; however, if your Paki neighbors hear that you are calling you dog Mohammed, you might lose your head over it.

"Mr Simpson, who has been blind for 30 years but uses a cane instead of a guide dog, said he was refused service at the airport because his two companions had dogs."
I know exactly what Mr Simpson can do with his cane the next time he is refused service.

Cabs were not in existence when Mohammad was alive, so no devout Muslim should be allowed to own one.
End of problem.
(They can offer camel rides, if they want to remain in the general business.)

I have asked before
Why are so many taxi drivers Muslims?
In every country where they live they are either taxi drivers or corner shopkeepers.
What in their culture allows these occupations? And why are infidels using their services?
Can anyone answer?

I am married to a muslim man and I own dogs. Surely he did not hug or pet them he was never mean to them. Just because one or two people in one group do something outrageous doesnt mean they all do. I'm tired of everyone stereotyping these people. I have met several muslim people and they are the kindest most thoughtful people i have ever met. Everyone needs to get the facts before they bad mouth decent people.
