A genocide no one noticed.
"Baghdad Christians Find New Life in Kurdish North," by Sabrina Tavernise in the New York Times:
KARA-ULA, Iraq — The 70 houses of this tiny village spring from the treeless, arid plain here in the northern tip of Iraq with the uniformity of an army camp.Built over the past four years of war, they house Christian refugees from some of Baghdad’s most dangerous neighborhoods: Dora, New Baghdad and Mashtel.
There the residents did not know one another, busy with their city lives. Now a barber, a bank manager, a news anchor and an electrician are comrades in the misery of flight.
“We saw everything a human can see,” said Majida Hamo, a mother of four who came from Mashtel recently. “It was a kind of genocide killing.”
“We were saying to Jesus, ‘See us and save us.’ ”
The Iraqi exodus is one of the largest displacements in the Middle East since the creation of Israel in 1948. Many have fled to Jordan and Syria, countries where Arabic is spoken. Others have stayed within Iraq’s borders, moving into the largely peaceful Kurdish north, which is more foreign to them than neighboring countries because the main language is Kurdish, not their native Arabic.
The choice of this small patch of land along the Turkish border was not arbitrary. On a gray day in 1975, the refugees’ parents were driven from their farms here, caught in one of Saddam Hussein’s cruel sectarian relocation plans, residents said. They were given a few hours to gather their possessions and get into army trucks. They ended up in Baghdad.
In the capital, the families — farmers and shepherds — became city dwellers, taking jobs as taxi drivers, maids and barbers. Samir Bibadro was born the year his parents arrived. They settled in Dora, a bustling lower-middle-class area with a large Christian population.
For most of his adult life Mr. Bibadro worked as a barber, giving trims and close shaves in his southern Baghdad neighborhood. After the American invasion, Sunni militants moved in to control it and began killing barbers, because the Prophet Muhammad wore a beard.

Ethnic cleansing? Hmm, the Muslim Iraqis and the Christian Iraqis are more or less the same ethnicity. Why call it ethnic cleansing? Saddam's atrocities against the Kurds, now that is ethnic cleansing. Looks like we need a new word for what is going on in Baghdad, what went on in the Balkans, and what went on in Kashmir witht the Hindu pandits. Religious cleansing should work. Just tell it like it is. No need to use pre-existing terms.

wrathofasma, ethnic cleansing is still a good description because these muslims don't look at other people as humans. however terms such as ethnic cleansing of christians, or religious purification, or religious cleansing of christians are more descriptive.

Beards are very important in Islam…it is like an identity ….so to all wuslims/Muslims and potentials…please do not be overcome with western influence in your lives … it's easy to neglect the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Little do you realize the magnitude of your actions in imitating Kufaar and it’s truly shocking!
Get off the denial bandwagon, you're a Muslim! Follow the Prophet (Peace be upon him) in all aspects of life, for he was the best of examples.
My local imam has lost count of how many times he’s mistaken a Muslim brother (outside of the Masjid) for a kaafir on account of his clean-shaven, well oiled, face.
How can I say "Assalaamu laikum Brother!" he said when I do not know if you are a Muslim. Yet that very brother wonders why he was ignored! Sure, he can tell if others are Muslim on account of their beard, but what about himself? From one imam brother to another, I say: "Grow a beard, then, since it also promotes Brotherhood in the real world. Stand with your Brothers, be one”.
And then he backs it up with sunnah! What matters is how Allah (S.W.T.) sees you. And when you do grow a beard, don't mock the Sunnah, please grow it correctly, i.e. FIST LENGTH. That is the prescribed length and no shorter
Also "trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow)….apparently t this look drives the womens wild with sexual desire.
Imam Shafi (R.A.) in his Kitabul Umm states, "To shave the beard is HARAAM." (Shari Minhaj dar Shara Fasl Aqueeqa). Shaving and shortening the beard is the action of non-believers.
Lastly the daily recitation of a band of angels of Allah is "Holy is the Being who adorned men with beards and women with braids" (Takmela e Bahr al Raiq, Vol. 3, p. 331)
Barbers therefore...help to defile the muslim identity...it is why they are targetted...I still think that targetting is wrong...id you want to believe in Islam...belive from the heart...then you won't wish to go to the barber.

Mohammedism is a form of cult worship. Mohammed's beard is a form of idol worship. Muslims are idol worshipping cultists who kill any who disagrees with their cult. Twisted and diabolical cult worship leads to death. Muslims have done a good job of killing, ethnic cleansing, genocide, death death death, all for their Mohammed cult. It should never qualify as a religion - it is a cult, and it should be banned worldwide as an EVIL idol worshipping CULT.

...there is nothing wrong with personal hygene and there is nothing wrong with having a neatly trimmed beard...
...there is something wrong with people killing others who have a desire to look clean and neat...
...it indicates the killers prefer to be unkempt, dirty, and vicious...
...it says a lot about Islam....

The connection between having a barber shave a beard and the murder of innocent Christians by muslims is WHAT????
All your post accomplished was to further illustrate the petty, anal, and intolerant mentality of those who follow the "prophet" of islam.
Until this kind of mentality can be overcome muslims will be a nasty little people.
And lastly, a man with a long unkept beard reminds me of the homeless wretches that that were released from mental institutions...not much different in mentality I think.

I'm surprised that the Israelis don't offer to take in Christian refugees from Iraq and Iran and other mid-east countries. They would be a big help in their demographics confronted as they are by a growing moslem population.

In the past, there have been Kurds who have murdered, taken land and generally abused your people. Do you trust them or do you feel you have no choice? I sincerely hope for the best.

Mohammad also dyed his beard henna.
(The vain schmuck... anyone ever hear of any other religious figure -of any respect- bothering with such a superificial prettification? This laughable detail, alone, should disqualify him from prophethood.)
To follow Mohammad, all Muslim men should actually have orange-red beards.
When does that rule come in?
Somebody issue a fatwa:
"Kill all heretical Muslims who do not have henna-colored beards like the "prophet"!"

Does that mean that all who have sexual relations with women older than 9, ride cars instead of camels, wear pants instead of robes, and operate AK-47 instead of swords must also be killed?

Naseem, you're a woman - according to your book Allah made you (Eve - women) "stupid" and your testimony is worth half that of a man's and your family inheritance is half that of a man's - so be a good Muslim woman, accept the fact that you are half a person - wear a black sack, lock yourself in a room, and leave us in peace. It's amazing that you read an article on Christians being slaughtered for no reason, and the only concern you have is the length of a Muslim's beard. You people are heartless devils; you are the first to complain about persecution and the first to persecute.
Your total lack of concern for what your Muslim brothers (as long as they have beards) are doing really speaks volumes about your sick and wicked faith. I like your posts - if we were to say that Muslims feel this way, we would be accused of spreading Islamophobic hatred. And yet, you so artfully make the point for us, thank you.
Nevertheless, the Americans are partly to blame here, under Sadam all Iraqis suffered equally - it's only now that Christians are being singled out for special treatment. islam does indeed have so many many untold and fascinating mysteries remaining to be revealed and discovered..
My guess is the 'prophet' didn't think it all through properly.. since he wasn't a novelist but rather a bandit who made it up as he went along as he needed it.. as long as he was able to keep his gullible followers in line long enough.
I bet he got scared once he realized these people actually *believed* the stories he brought forth and thus he had no way but to keep going and deliver ever-more wild and entertaining 'material' to his followers lest they perceive him as the liar and the fraud that he was and lob his bearded little head off.
I will say he was quite skilfull and creative...
Wish Monty Python would do a movie called "The Life of Mo" already.. would certainly be a BLOCKBUSTER!!!

They're the same genetic group. They are different ethnic groups; ethnicity can include culture and religion. It isn't just genes and language.
