"New fund 'to unlock potential of Muslim women,'" from 24dash.com (thanks to WriterMom):
Communities Secretary Ruth Kelly is announcing a new community leadership fund today to support Muslim communities to unlock the potential of women and young Muslims in making communities resilient and stronger in facing down the voices of violent extremism.She will launch a new £650,000 Preventing Violent Extremism: Community Leadership Fund which will provide grants to programmes across the country.
Ruth Kelly believes that supporting Muslim communities to play a greater leadership role in civic life and shaping the places they live will help promote greater equality and strengthen resilience to extremism in local communities.
The fund is expected to support the following types of projects:
* New community-led programmes that break down the barriers to the progression and participation of Muslim women in mosques and wider society. For example, building on the work of organisations such as the British Muslim Forum and the Sufi Muslim Council who are encouraging greater access to mosques and mosque committees for women.
* A major expansion in community leadership training courses for Muslim women and young Muslims, including work around confidence building, communication skills, negotiation and mediation. Courses run by organisations like Common Purpose could cover the chance to meet and work as apprentices for senior decision-makers and leaders across communities, business and voluntary sectors. Participants can also visit prisons, housing developments, businesses, hospitals and manufacturing plants to help learn the leadership skills necessary in influencing people and confronting difficult issues.
* New local projects that promote opportunities for Muslim women and young Muslims to play a greater role in civic life such as becoming magistrates, local councillors or school governors. This will help promote equality and the skills that strengthen communities’ resilience to extremism. Roughly only 0.4 per cent of councillors are Asian women. In 2006 there were 75 Asian female councillors and 438 Asian male councillors. In total, only 2.8 per cent of councillors were Asian, compared 4.6 per cent of the adult population.
Anything about "teaching against the jihad ideology of Islamic supremacism"? Of course not.

$650,000 will not cover the cost of 24 hour / 7 day a week security needed to protect the orginization and its employees from the true muslims who will see the threat to their dominance over their women.

I wish the British government could spend more money on funding skills training so that people could learn to do things of practical value without ending themselves in massive debt rather than this sort of vagueness where it's hard to measure any tangible results for taxpayers' money.

Was fired today in a government re-shuffle she is now Minister for Transport. However the policy will almost certainly remain unchanged.

Why do we keep trying to accomodate the people of this vile cult called islam. They will never fit into our societies, and throwing money at the problem will not fix anything.
Money should be put towards their removal from Britain and the whole western world. We will never get along with them, their religion forbids this. Terrorism will stop in our countries if they are kicked out and not even allowed to visit.
They will never have the ability to invade from outside our homelands, their religion handicaps success, thats why they do it from the inside.
Why doesn't the government understand this. I hope everyone votes extreme right as soon as possible and save our societies.

If they REALLY want to free Muslim women, they could quietly sponsor Christian community radio to run continuous broadcasts of a. attractive Christian music - not just in Western styles but in Arab and Indian idioms - such things do exist; mixed in with b. readings, straight, from the Gospels, not only in English but in the main languages known to be spoken in the home by many of these women. I can think of other suitable things to include. Hey, since Ayaan Hirsi Ali credits them with helping to open her mind, how about some bookreadings (both in English, and translated into, say, Urdu and Arabic) from ...Nancy Drew detective stories. Miss Marple, anyone? Dorothy Sayers' 'Strong Poison' - a woman is acquitted of the false charge of murdering her former lover, thanks to a man who BELIEVES HER VERSION OF THE EVENTS and sets out to find the real murderer. Slushy romances - yes, even some of Harlequin's best, since, again, Ms Ali credits them with teaching her that the desire to love and be loved was a Good Thing (drop those love bombs...sssss - BOOM!). Jane Austen! Love poetry. L M Montgomery's 'Anne of Green Gables' series. Laura Ingalls Wilder, for the story of a pious, virtuous - and smart, and independent! - girl growing up in the 19C american west. Slip them in, a chapter at a time, radio serial, to open horizons in the mind. Have interviews with the survivors - those who have escaped, those who have renounced Islam, be it to become Christian...or anything else! Those who have married non-Muslims and are finding it very much to their liking to have courteous, devoted husbands who seek to please them. Read out in Urdu, a chapter at a time, like a radio serial, the whole of Gulshan Esther's "The Torn Veil", or Bilquis Sheikh, "I Dared to Call Him Father" (both stories of gutsy, smart, upper-class Pakistan women who converted to Christianity and thought the world well lost for [divine] Love). Read Nonie Darwish, "Now they Call Me Infidel". If I were the Catholic archbishop in Britain and the Archbishop of Canterbury that's what I'D be sponsoring, quietly, but very substantially. Include stuff like English lessons, health advice and so on, so that you can tell critics with a straight face that it's all about education and helping people understand our culture and survive in the British environment. Look, it'd be worth a try. Frankly, all the churches in Britain should have got together and started running a program like this about 20 years ago.

I should have added - here are all these women sitting at home all day with the kids, bored out of their tiny little minds. If hubby isn't there...if he's off at the mosque, or driving that cab, or busy plotting jihad with the lads, then who's to know what she listens to, on the radio. If the stuff's good enough, and she's just that little bit curious, she only has to luck onto it once or twice, to be hooked.
On second thoughts, my posting above is...dangerous. Because hostile eyes visit this site, too. I shouldn't have gone into detail, just in case anybody IS trying something along the lines I've suggested. Though, sadly, they probably aren't. Too scared of 'offending'...so they deny food to starving souls.

I was going to say they could teach them how to protect themselves from those beatings,but then i remembered there is no beating muslim women.They only punch them.

They could start a class where the mothers bring thier children and have to actually learn to love them.
Thats worth more than millions!
Also a class for the fathers where they recieve not beatings but punchings.Thats worth the moon and stars.

What a brilliant and simple idea, Dumbledoresarmy. Believing comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of God, no less. You know that Rome fell when slaves became Christians. Not even persecution and death could stop the demise of Rome. We need us a revival.

It's great news!
The more that the political establishment promotes Islam to spite Christianity the more powerful Moslems will become. The more powerful Moslems become the more they will interfere with everyone else.
The more high-profile Islam is, the more it will seem possible to establish an Islamic state. The more this seems possible, the more acts of violence 'to defend Islam' will occur.
The more bombings there are, the more that everyone will get angry and annoyed. The more security measures that are taken (which affect non-Moslems so as not to 'discriminate' against those responsible), the more angry and annoyed everyone will get.
And if everyone gets angry and annoyed enough, the traitors responsible will get lynched and the moslems in question will be politely but firmly encouraged to go back to the Moslem states that they came from or claim to wish to live in.

In the UK "Asian" is generally used to describe someone who is indigenous to the Indian sub-continent. i.e. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It's confusing, I know.
