Iran cracks down on 'unIslamic' dress

Another Sharia Alert from the Islamic Republic. Europeans, this is your future -- unless you head it off now. From Agence France-Presse (thanks to JE):

IRAN warned that its police will enforce a drive against clothing deemed unIslamic with renewed vigour this month by doubling the number of forces assigned to check up on lax dressing, local media reported.

Thousands of women have already been warned and hundreds arrested across Iran for failing to adhere to the country's Islamic dress code since the drive began in April, its toughest such crackdown in years.

Ahmad Reza Radan, the head of Tehran's police force, dismissed any notion that the crackdown was now fizzling out, saying it was "unstoppable''.

"From July 23, the number of police assigned to this mission will be doubled,'' he told the student news agency ISNA late on Saturday.

"We will multiply the number of patrols from July 23 in such a way that all streets, parks and places of entertainment be covered,'' he added.

He said the police's policy will be first to give a verbal warning to those who infringe the law and if necessary they will then be arrested and taken to a centre for "consultation''.

"If their behaviour is not accidental they will then be handed over to the judiciary,'' he added.

Yes, instead of finding murderers, thieves, and suchlike, they go in search of those not wearing Islamic dress - Such idiocy.

Haha! They're playing right into our hands. These burka-clad ladies are our principal means of moving our squirrel-saboteurs to their assigned positions.

I think that they fear American culture more than they fear American weapons. If Islam were so self-evidently superior to everything else these crackdowns wouldn't be necessary, would they?

Add another word one tires of hearing from the vermon..."Unstoppable".

Thsy could be stopped in a heart beat,at every turn.

Maybe we should only allow burlap into the islamic world.Boy wouldn't that cause some friction?

This is great it now looks like we will not have to have a war with them, all we need to do is send them all of our old clothes and the country will implode as it tries to maintain the Islamic dress code.
