Egypt: Police release convert from Islam to Christianity to her violent Muslim family

They haven't yet succeeded in killing her, in accord with Muhammad's words, "If somebody discards his religion, kill him." But don't call them moderates yet: it looks as if they're going to keep trying.

Islamic Tolerance Alert: "Egypt: Police Release Christian To Her Violent Family," from Compass Direct:

ISTANBUL, July 23 (Compass Direct News) – Egyptian police in Alexandria who last week arrested a Christian convert woman today handed her over to her fanatical Islamist family, who beat her before driving her away.

Eyewitnesses said family members of Shaymaa (Eman) Muhammad al-Sayed, 26, today dragged her screaming from the police station where she had been closeted. According to the eyewitnesses outside Alexandria’s Bab-Sharky police station, Al-Sayed’s relatives severely beat her in the Shatby Cemetery behind the police station at 4 p.m.

She was then forced into a family microbus and driven off toward the district of Abeis, east of Alexandria, where her father’s knitting factory is located.

One week ago, on July 16, these same family members openly threatened to kill Al-Sayed for leaving Islam to become a Christian, after spotting her walking through a fair in Alexandria.

Local police promptly took her into “protective custody,” allegedly to prevent her physical harm at the hands of her irate Muslim relatives.

But instead of protecting her, local police and State Security Investigation (SSI) officials have subjected the threatened woman to days of severe physical and emotional torture. Her maltreatment included electrical shocks, beatings and being photographed naked.

Her repeated requests to press charges against her family for attempting to kidnap and kill her were ignored.

At one point, Col. Abdel-Ghany Hamada of the Division of Public Affairs commanded four of his officers to beat her with their shoes while he interrogated her for hours about her forged Christian identity papers.

After becoming a Christian in January 2003, Al-Sayed had obtained Christian identity papers under the name of Maryan Eleya Saleeb and married a Christian man. Egyptian law does not permit anyone born a Muslim to change his or her religion, nor can a Muslim woman marry a Christian.

My guess is, she's a goner.

Obviously the Egyptian Police motto is not, To Protect and Serve.

Islam, a religion of THE DEVIL. God Bless a future Christian martyr. This should be a wake up call for all Christians in the west that this could be our fate in the future.

Clearly, those misunderstanders of Islam never read the Qur'an which clearly says "There is no compulsion in religion".

Oh, I am sure thar CAIR, John Esposito, D'Souza and all other "apologists" will scream and shout, and will stand up and defend that woman's right to choose her religion, right?

I spent two years in Egypt, and this kind of crap happens all the time there. Mubarak is scared sh--less of the Islamists, dictatorial power or no. That's why he's content to let Muslims chip away at the Copts bit by bit.

GetBornAgain,

Just like Musaraff of Pakistan, both who are afraid of being whacked.

Islam, a religion of THE DEVIL. God Bless a future Christian martyr.

All those words are so true. Our society is so afraid call evil what it is, and if this isn't the work of Satan I don't know what is.

This brave women knew the risks and dangers yet converted and became a Christian. This is the modern day version of the Roman persecutions... The similarites are frightening.

This should be a wake up call for all Christians in the west that this could be our fate in the future.

The scary thing is it is already happening. Atheists and secularist like the ACLU attack Chritianiy through the courts unceasingly. Now these groups are forming alliances with Islamic groups in the US.

Secular progressives + Islam = slowly evolving Christian persecution

The police are more concerned with this 'crime' than they are crimes such as murder, torture, kidnapping and slavery. Not a day goes by when I don't get the idea reinforced that islam breeds murdering thugs. If they don't have an infidel to murder then they can turn on their women - and so much the better if their woman turned to be an infidel. I bet they really have a party then!

All they have to say is it was an 'honor killing' and they get off scott free - or at the very least they might get a hand slap.

...why should Muslim leaders be afraid of Muslim terrorist groups?.....don't they both read the same Qur'an and worship the same things?....Are they not on the same side?....only the Muslim with the sharpest knife wins....

I'd like to hear the Episcopal AnAmerican do some thinking about this poor woman. I suspect he'll be absent from this discussion.

"Her maltreatment included electrical shocks, beatings and being photographed naked."

What a surprise.....made her get naked. I'm surprised they didn't gang rape her....Islam has a bit of a problem with their sexual rages.

"But instead of protecting her, local police and State Security Investigation (SSI) officials have subjected the threatened woman to days of severe physical and emotional torture. Her maltreatment included electrical shocks, beatings and being photographed naked."

...and this was done by the police prior to turning the girl over to her family who then continued the beating....

Islam is for losers....ban Muslim immigration...

To be fair, during my time in Egypt I did meet a lot of people, from Muslim to Christian to atheist (none who'd be willing to state it in public, obviously) who are utterly appalled by this. I'm not trying to stereotype all Egyptians as violent Islamists. But the problem is, even those that want to do something about it are pretty much powerless. Mubarak (and Sadat before him) has feared the secular opposition far more than the Islamists, so over the years he has gradually strengthened the Islamists (by attempting to seem more Muslim than they--hence his spelling his name as Muhammad Hosni Mubarak from the mid 80s onward). In the process he has gotten what he wants--a steady erosion of secular opposition (Ayman Nour, etc), but with it he has only dug a deeper hole for himself. Once strengthened, the Islamists do NOT let go. Fortunately, Egypt does have a freer-than-normal (for an Arab country) press, and occasionally direct and serious discussion of these issues does occur, but it's not looking good for them. A few writers and intellectuals who are allowed to speak their minds because Mubarak tries to at least appear democratic can't accomplish much.

Be sure to email this article to the White House.

So they can't plead ignorance when the woman is slaughtered ...as we pay billions to the Egyptian regime.

Any amount for defense, not one penny for tribute.

More on Banaz Mahmod who was raped, strangled and stuffed in a suitcase by her loving, Muslim family.

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSL1919223520070719?pageNumber=2

This part was exceptionally chilling:

'In the recordings, transcripts of which were relayed to the court, Hama and his friend are hearing laughing as he described how she was killed with Banaz's uncle "supervising".

"I was kicking and stamping on her neck to get the soul out. I saw her stark naked, only wearing pants or underwear," Hama is recorded as saying.'

Don't tell me that this is a tribal thing. Don't tell me this has nothing to do with Islam. Either we protect the weakest in our society from brutal oppression and extermination by those who are stronger or we accept it, do nothing about it and get more of it.

Kind of like what the "moderate" Muslims have done.

Posted by: Isabellathecrusader [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 12:11 PM

isabella, naw - this isn't a tribal thing, and it has everything to do with islam and it breeding psychopathic murderers.

How could anyone murder with such glee except those who have a problem in their brains? We try to breed them out of our society or put them away, and in islamic societies/communities they breed them and nurture them.

Posted by: R_not [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 12:16 PM

I should add to my post above - this is what Europe, and even some of our cities here in the USA, accept when we do nothing. Yep, we accept it too. We have sanctuary cities that do absolutely nothing to muslims. We don't keep track of their crimes and we don't 'see' or
'hear' anything. And Europe is much worse than we are.

Posted by: R_not [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 12:19 PM

Lucky Shaymmaa! She's still alive. Not that all's over - whenever she has a baby, she could risk losing it to her Mohammedan relatives, a la Revathy Masoolai in Malaysia.

I'm not much of a church-goer, but I have not heard anything about this terrible form of despotism from organized religion in the U.S. A few years back, when I was still an Episcopalian, the diocese sent out a newsletter which occasionally had a pro-Palestinian article, but never anything that was critical of the junior Abrahamic Faith or those who practice it.

Posted by: MP [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 1:30 PM

Never ceases to amaze me how every story from the land of ignorance ends in a naked and raped female.

The new middle eastern policy should be free castrations all around.

It also never ceases to remind me of the "equality" one finds in Islam.

Of course then i have to remember that it's just a "few" bad apples in the orchard.

What disgusting and vile people, all of them!

Posted by: Dar al-harb [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 1:31 PM

Don't suppose it will do much good, but I've printed this, and mailed it to the Egyptian embassy with a note saying that I've canceled my trip to visit the pyramids.

Posted by: MP [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 24, 2007 1:34 PM

A few bad apples? How is it we hear about this, over and over until it sounds like this is an epidemic? And our leaders and immigration officials need to acknowledge that the same people that believe in this sort of thing as a civic right over there, believe the same thing when they come over here. And I believe it takes about half a day to get to the U.S. from the ME on an airplane so that is a little too close for comfort in my book.

We are not helped in out cause by fellow Americans that can't be bothered to find out what is going on around them but who never tire of putting their two cents in on what they think about the positive qualities of Islam. I know a woman who seems intelligent and I've discussed with her what's going on with Muslims, how they use the Koran to justify committing crimes against humanity and the hot spots that are in danger of being taken over. You know what she tells me? She has a good friend that's a Muslim and he has a really nice family so none of what I'm saying could be true. Holy Toledo! Knowing one person who is "nice" can negate the constant, steady, persistent evidence that is presented to us daily?

I'll bet Banaz Mahmod's family was really "nice" too. But there is something pathological about a family member who complains that while stomping on the neck of a younger and helpless sister, it's taking too long for her to die. To say out loud that one is trying to force the soul out of a person, by stomping on their neck or by any other method makes me ask myself, have we descended into hell? Have we invited people into our country that see nothing wrong with this treatment of other human beings and are we going to accept it for fear that they might pitch a fit and bring a lawsuit against us? Have we lost our f__king minds?

And the next question is the most serious of all...will we become numb to these incidents and look the other way so we don't have to get involved and surrender our collective conscience, our ethics, our morals and the beliefs and aspirations that our country was founded on to a bunch of murderous neanderthals? Islam is here and now folks, and every incident is a test of our resolve to live free or die free or live enslaved. This is not about what is going to happen to us, it is about what is happening to us now.

The most disturbing thing about this to me is the lack of remorse on the part of the perps, based on their belief that it was their right to do this, that pride and control and retribution are much more important to these despicable men than familial love, compassion and understanding. So much for the lie that Islam is pro-family.

And another very important thing is that this happened in England, not Syria, not Egypt, not Iran, but in England. Which means it could just as easily have happened in the U.S. and will if we don't do something to put a stop to this now. But how, when President Bush keeps telling me how peaceful this all is.

BTW, good for you, MP, that you are saying "no" to supporting a country that supports anti-human rights. It may not matter to the PM of Egypt but it matters to the rest of us. Your action, be it small or not, whether anyone knows about it or not, is a cry for freedom and against oppression. I congratulate and thank you!

Oh yes, our good friends the Egyptians!

Screw 'em all!

"Egyptian law does not permit anyone born a Muslim to change his or her religion, nor can a Muslim woman marry a Christian."

A few months ago, when I was still in Cairo, they were having a (fraudulent) referendum on various constitutional amendments that promised everything and delivered nothing (as expected), and a person none other than Sadat's widow got on TV and said that it was a mistake for him to had made Sharia the basis of Egyptian law. Caused something of a stir, but what surprised me was how many people agreed with her. I think there ARE some good people in Egypt who disagree with what goes on here--people who are terrified to see the West dallying with the Muslim Brotherhood.

@boxter,

I share your thoughts completely, but cannot help asking what you're smoking ?
This is simply not going to happen. On the contrary, you'll see Bush & Blair or Clinton for that matter, getting all worked up about
Palestine, Bosnia, Kosovo, Chenchya, Kashmir etc.
Didn't Clinton bomb Yugoslavia to pulp for fighting Muslim terrorists ?
That obnoxious Madeliene Albright never lost an opportunity to sermonise to India on Kashmir
and advocate the islamist cause.
Colin Powell followed in her footsteps.
I fancied Condoleezza Rice to be an intelligent woman, until recently when she too started pressuring India to accomodate islamist concerns
in Kashmir. Supporting the Afghan Jihad against
the Soviet Union was a *huge* mistake. The Ummah wrongly perceived it as a muslim victory over a superpower and were emboldened to attack the USA.
I mean, what has gone so terribly wrong with western leaders that they cannot clearly distinguish between friend & foe ?

I knew a man whose female Palestinian Muslim Arab friend married an American Christian and converted to Christianity. Her family voted whether to kill her or not. She remained alive because one uncle voted not to have her murdered.
This is not the only case in this country.

But!but! but! there is 'No compulsion in Islam' and Islam is a 'Religion of Peace' and, and, and, ad PC,'Yuman Rite' spouting, taqqiya infinitum . These people in Egypt are just misguided why don't Hilary Clinton and Ms Pelosi go there and tell them they have got the Kran all wrong and Old Mo was really this nice peaceful woman respecting guy ( I was going to write loving but realised he was that but not in a nice way). Perhaps George Bush would go with them too and take HIS peaceful, women respecting copy of the Kran which he must obviously have I mean he would not call it the ROP without first fully reading the Kran and investigating the hadith would he???

Posted by: Realist [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 25, 2007 12:42 AM

karyakarta92,
Western leaders don't care about friend of foe. They only want money. Just like Bush the psuedo-Christian has sold America out to the Muslims in exchange for oil.

Posted by: non-redneck [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 25, 2007 1:51 AM

Is this a problem with Egyptian law or is this a probelm with Islamic law? Is it only Egyptian law or is it also Islamic law that does not permit anyone born a Muslim to change his or her religion? Is it only Egyptian law or is it also Islamic law that says a Muslim woman cannot marry a Christian?

Who is it that benefits from these kinds of laws?

Certainly they don't benefit the Muslim or the non-Mulsim, do they?

Islam is not a religion of peace for the non Muslim or for the Muslim who doesn't want to be a MMuslim. The 'No compulsion in Islam' is clearly nnot for the Muslim who doesn't want to be a Muslim. Islam is a religion of slavery, torture and death.

How can the non-Chritian liberals and atheists be more opposed to Christianity than to Islam? Islam is not a religion of peace and it should not be granted freedom of religion in America!

Posted by: Joe61 [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 25, 2007 4:05 AM

The world needs to re-evaluate what constitutes a religion and make the distinction between those who truly have and are living a peaceful religious life and those who are using the facade of religion as a cover to gain power over others and bring them into submission to their evil way.

Islam is only called a relgion because Muslims claim allegiance to God, but they see every other religion as an abomination before God and for those who will not accept the Islamic way, according to Islamic law, deserve to die.

Islam is a totalitarian, intolerant, evil system of control, not a religion.

Posted by: Joe61 [TypeKey Profile Page] at July 25, 2007 4:16 AM

Egypt was once the cradle of civilization.

Now through Islam it has become the grave of civilization.
