Muslim fury as 'Jihad The Musical' comes to the UK

JihadMusicalUPPA_468x410.jpg

Here we go again. Where is the "Muslim fury" against not "Jihad The Musical," but "Jihad The Bloody Reality"?

From the Daily Mail (thanks to Morgaan Sinclair):

International terrorism and the threat to Britain from Al-Qaeda would probably be deemed by most as unlikely subject matter for a musical.

After all, suicide bombing, mass bloodshed and fundamental Islam do not exactly lend themselves to singing and dancing.

But Jihad the Musical by the Silk Circle Production company has forged on regardless and is already being performed on stage at the Edinburgh Festival.

The controversial satire about Islamic terrorism includes such classic tunes as "Building a bomb today, what does the manual say" and "I wanna be like Osama".

Perhaps its creators were inspired by the success of The Producers - a runaway broadway hit which attracted criticism for its camp rendition of Nazi Germany.

Like that production, the terrorism musical - billed as a "madcap gallop through the wacky world of international terrorism" - has already sparked protests.

A petition calling for the Prime Minister to condemn the musical has been launched on his Downing Street website.

It says: "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to condemn the tasteless portrayal of terrorism and its victims in Jihad the Musical."

But producer James Lawler has downplayed the protest, saying: "We have no intention of causing offence or insult with this show, It is simply a musical comedy."

The musical tells the story of a young Afghan peasant Sayid who dreams of making it as a flower farmer selling poppies in the West.

His plans are thwarted by a jihadi cell seeking to blow up Western targets, in particular one in Britain known as the "Unidentified, Very Prestigious Landmark".

Sayid sings to his burkha clad mentor: "I can only see your eyes" and theatre-goers are also treated to a song called "We're going to rock the righteous, to the Jihad jive".

The story comes to a head on the night of the attack when Sayid must decide whose side he is on....

A lot of people are going to have to decide that eventually.

ROP believers do not protest the advance of their cult. But yes they are victims of this musical, which after all offends their sensibilities. Who are these Infidels ridiculing the cult.

Zombies they are and contrary to what others say, who says the number of moderate moslems is widespread. All the polls indicate that a large number of people support, or at the very least condone, the actions 'the fringe.' How can the silent majority be considered moderate? Ask yourself, do you want one moving in next door? Can you trust these people? Not afraid of 'sudden jihad syndrome?'

I agree with you that there is a great possibility for worldwide demonstrations against this play being offensive to the grandiose pbuh. Some power hungry cleric will grab on to this somewhere and issue a fatwa, stimulating the hordes. The reaction to the mohammmed comics and to the Pope's oblique reference in a speech to a historical quote, only shows that logic does not apply. They lack perspective. Their cult does not allow dissent nor free speech. Neither should non believers be not allowed to question the ideology, probably because most believers not only do not understand it themselves, but can't explain it logically. The cult's sense of humor doesn't extend beyond putting an Infidel's head on a stick. One need only look at the history of their expansion when these idiots enter the land of their enemies. ..

First infiltration, then population expansion, and their demands for a place in the sun. As the percentage expands, then rights. Now there are moslime washing places and private rooms on public land. The clock is ticking,

Over my dead body..

"Where is the 'Muslim fury' against not 'Jihad The Musical,' but 'Jihad The Bloody Reality'?"

This should be a newspaper headline.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Hugh Fitzgerald write something along the lines that these jihadis should be mocked at every opportunity?

I think this musical is an excellent idea. Jihadist ideals should be laughed at, loudly and with gusto.

Personally, this production is no different than Hitler in Springtime. If the UK has a problem with it then I guess Free Speech isn't held sacred by the UK government.

This thing needs to tour the world.

I don't want to be near the demagogues who are brainwashing 5 year olds to kill my children.

Objecting to this is reasonable, not screeched at by "you're a racist".

anyone who signs this petition are for terrorism and the islamic jihad. i hope that MI5 will be keeping a close watch on their petition and all who sign, rather than my epitition and british nationalists who have signed my one.

of course i know who MI5, a socialist organisation, will be keeping a close eye on, and it's not the ones that want to plant sedition and high treason within the UK in the name of a fascist idealology wrapped up in some violent "religious" cult.

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to condemn the tasteless portrayal of terrorism and its victims in Jihad the Musical."

In other words, let’s portray terrorism (the murder of innocent human beings in cold blood) tastefully, so that squeamish souls needn’t be embarrassed. The afterthought "and its victims” is sickening – as though these victims were also acting in a drama that must on no account be portrayed as being in bad taste. What has good taste got to do with it? Terrorism isn't a vicar's tea-party.

This is awesome. Islam must be mocked and ridiculed in a public manner. Productions like this MUST go on. I may fly to England just to see it.

I hope every performance of 'Jihad: The Musical' is sold out. 'The Devil is a proud spirit, and cannot abide to be mocked', so said Martin Luther. Let the mockery begin.

But y'know - if one REALLY wanted to annoy the Muslims, one could do a show rather like this and give it a happy ending: end it with the hero dumping Islam altogether and converting to Christianity like a certain Persian jihadist, Daniel Shayesteh, really did.

Specially since one nice thing that happened after Daniel converted, was that he saw his beautiful wife (whom he had NOT treated very well during his jihad fanatic days) in a whole new light and started lavishing love and respect upon her. Which, of course, she found rather surprising at first; but extremely pleasant when it proved to be a permanent change. So SHE converted too...AND their three daughters, one after the other.

Make the hero a married man, use Daniel's story as the model, and you finish with a real show-stopper: a passionate love duet between a man and his wife (with a third voice joining in - the Biblical God as the go-between/ reconciler!), and then the wife and daughters gleefully ripping off the hideous black rags forever and blossoming forth in gorgeous feminine garments...

I've seen the photos of Shayesteh's womenfolk, Before and After. Before: lovely woman and little girls in those black things the Persian women wear nowadays - faces showing but no hair, and all looking pale and sad. After: rainbow colours, bared heads, bare arms in the sunshine, and faces lilting with smiles.

Someone needs to tell these stories. Not just to skewer the abundant follies of the rigid Islamic system in all its arrogance but also to celebrate the possibility of its victims escaping altogether, finding the light of life, as, every now and again, like Daniel and his family, they DO.

Anything that mocks the jihaddis in public is a good thing.

Nothing deflates a boogie-man like laughter.

If these folks are mocking the jihaddis they are to be commended.

And Robert's line is of course exactly appropriate.

If they get Nathan Lane or Kevin Kline to sign on, I'll buy a ticket!

"A petition calling for the Prime Minister to condemn the musical launched on his Downing Street website." Simply stated, did these individuals spew a word about 7/7 ?. I think not. Maybe Brown has bigger, you know.

The more micky you take of Islam/muslims the better . We must mock them any where and every where. Because they do that to non muslims in their countries.
