ISTANBUL, August 16 (Compass Direct News) – Christians and Hindus in northern Pakistan have received dozens of letters threatening them with death if they refuse to become Muslims, church sources and a police official said yesterday.Police continued to provide security around churches and temples this week, even as Christians received new deadlines for converting to Islam.
Though the original August 10 deadline for conversion has passed, Peshawar’s minorities continue to live in fear, canceling church activities and skipping services, a Catholic priest said.
“Embrace Islam and become Muslims … otherwise, after next Friday, August 10, your colony will be ruined,” read more than a dozen identical letters collected by the Church of Pakistan (COP) in Peshawar, 150 kilometers (93 miles) west of Islamabad.
A spokesman for COP, Pakistan’s largest Protestant body, said that on August 7 some of the threatening letters had been thrown into the courtyards of Christian and Hindu homes in Peshawar’s Kohati, Interior City and Cantonment districts. Different letters were mailed to Peshawar’s Catholic and Protestant churches.
“All in all, we were able to collect only 15 of the letters from the community,” said Ashar Dean, assistant director of communications for COP’s Peshawar diocese.
Explaining that they were delivered to neighborhoods heavily populated by minority families living in small houses around a common courtyard, Dean said that the letters probably reached more than 100 Christians and Hindus.
A separate letter mailed to COP diocesan priest Joseph John threatened suicide attacks against churches.
“Our mosques and children are being martyred at American orders,” read the letter. “Therefore the churches will also be wiped out from the face of the earth.”

If we get more than two people per state, we’ll also send copies to the House of Representatives.

No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I’ll try to update the list at least once a day. I've also designed a new graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.
Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.
Right before we do the mailing, we can issue a press release to various media outlets in every state, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.
One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the anti-Jihad caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick to maximize its effectiveness. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to go about this. And I'll soon contact Regnery, Robert Spencer's publisher, to ask their advice and to see if we can coordinate with them in some way.

.....and here in the US, we continue to accomodate Muslim demands for footbaths, prayer rooms, prayer time, prayer mats, tolerances for Muslim food, special Muslim demands to wear the Burka and Niqabs in drivers licenses and security photos, forgiveness in allowing cab drivers to be selective in who they allow into the cabs, we hire Muslim clerks who are selective as to what items they ring up at the checkout counter, special considerations for Medical treatment, special treatment in the Judicial processes, special treatment in press, special treatment given in the college campuses, demands that American children be indoctrinated into Islam by forcing schools to teach the Qur'an, practice Islamic customs, learn Arabic, eat Muslim food and even to dress as Muslims..the list goes on and on and yet the MSM and the teachers unions insist this is all for cultural diversity....it is time we open our eyes and ban Muslim Immigration..NOW>..

I think this story is a bit hyped up. Peoples here are very busy just trying to carve out their life.

Of course the truth gets hyped up when it's allowed to be shouted from every root top. In countries like Pakastan people don't even know this is happening...how can they when there is NO FREE PRESS there. Naseem, you only know what your press wants you to know, and you can't do anything about evil unless you know it's happening.
Just remember, once all the Hindus and Christians are gone you are next on their list of infidels to kill.

Everytime I see someone dying in Pakistan it is because the 'incited' muslim mobs are doing the burnings and killings.
The comment 'martyred at Americans orders' seems contradictory since the 'incitement' comes from the imans that are 'inciting' the muslims.

Having spent time in Peshawar back in the 1980s, this makes me so angry. At the time we were helping these Muslims fight against the Soviet "occupation" of Afghanistan. Now look who we empowered. If only the Soviets had not been so lenient, they might have won, but by the 1980s the Reds were no longer the vicious exterminators of any opponents that they had been under Lenin and Stalin.
DW may delete this post but I am speaking from experience about the very people we helped arm. The only way to defeat jihad is to meet them at their own level. Civilization cannot destroy savagery unless it is prepared to utterly subdue the savages.
They must be shown that for every Christian, Jew, or Hindu, that they murder, we will kill at least one hundred of them. For every Christian or Hindu woman they kidnap, we will take twenty of their daughters. For each Christian or Hindu forcibly converted to Islam, we will seize one hundred Muslim children and raise them as non-Muslims.
Let us meet every act of enforced dhimmitude in Muslim countries by imposing equal dhimmitude on any Muslims living in ours.

Moslems in that area are bad news. A large number are quite radical and dangerous, and if given the chance would bring the country, if not the region, to its knees. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
But I would just like to point something out...Musharraf does not run a real democracy (or a free press) because he know he'll lose elections if he does. So he runs sham elections and creates a facade of democracy, marginalizing the real democratic majority. Guess who he turns to hold up the facade?
A six-party Islamist alliance that collectively were the ideological founders of the Taliban. By keeping them strong, Musharraf can marginalize the moderates, and simultaneously hold up the threat of Talibanization as proof that he must remain in power. In short, Musharraf will NEVER crush the Taliban. To a large degree, Musharraf IS the Taliban. Pakistan needs democracy now: Go, Musharraf, Go!

It would have been tough at the time to form an alliance with the Soviets against Islam, particularly since the former followed an ideology very similar to it, and had global ambitions of their own. Not similar to Kosovo.
I disagree with Provoslavni here. I normally agree with him on Serbia, but in this case, he's advocating something that at the time was undoable.
