Florida televangelist loses show after CAIR complains

"Fla. Televangelist Loses Show After Muslims Complain," from WFTV:

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A Christian televangelist who harshly criticizes Islam and other religions said Friday that his late-night program is being pulled off the air because of pressure from a Muslim group.
Earlier this month, officials from the Council on American Islamic Relations wrote a letter to the TV station's owners asking for an investigation of the show it broadcasts, "Live Prayer with Bill Keller."
In a May 2 broadcast, the televangelist said Islam was a "1,400-year-old lie from the pits of hell" and called the Prophet Mohammed a "murdering pedophile." He also called the Koran a "book of fables and a book of lies."

None of what is quoted rises to the level of incitement to violence or other illegal activity. Additionally, network officials should ask themselves what sort of precedent they are setting, and if they would now forbid strongly worded criticisms of any religion.

Council officials asked for equal air time for Florida Muslims to counter Keller's comments, but never got the chance.
The hourlong show, which airs nightly at 1 a.m., is broadcast on WTOG-TV, a CBS-owned station that airs the CW network locally. WTOG station manager Laura Caruso said the decision to end Keller's contract was a programming one, made by station executives and the televangelist.
But after speaking with CBS executives, the Islamic group claimed credit for Keller's demise. His last broadcast will be Aug. 31.
"They really based their decision upon our letter," said Ramzy Kilic, the group's civil rights coordinator. "They really did not know that Bill Keller was involved with this kind of anti-Muslim rhetoric."
Keller said his "Bible-based" message hasn't changed in the five years the program has aired.
"(CAIR) intimidated the folks in New York, and the folks in New York caved in," Keller said.
Keller said he is starting a new morning TV show on another Tampa Bay area station that will debut Sept. 3.

CAIR is driving a wedge into America. Dhimmitude is accepting that. Strange that Islamics are the only ones who turn multiculturalism into minority-culturalism. Anyone getting the message?

Keller should be nationally syndicated!

Anyone have the address of that Chapter of CAIR?

I think we should all send a mail with two words:

Rev. Keller has run afoul of the programmers, not because he was saying anything that was untrue, but because he was stating it in such a fashion as to rush to the punchline, to provide the correct conclusion concerning a disreputable personality but perhaps without adequate explanation, so that the conclusion itself looks like nothing more than frothing bigotry.

It would be better for concerned people working in the media to adopt an approach such as Mr. Spencer's, i.e. reliance on the canonical scriptures of Islam, and to dole it out to their viewers and listeners in servings that are cool, calm, without inflammatory rhetoric and above all accurate. I don't know if Mr. Keller's presentations were lacking in any of these qualities, but whatever the case, I hope he and others like him continue to speak up and inform the public.

It might also be worthwhile for the public, still largely uninformed about the nature of Islam, to be treated to some of the Islamic expressed attitudes towards the West and "Peoples of the Book." Are there still independent broadcasters that are willing to take on such a crusade, er, struggle, um task?

Posted by: Chatillon [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 25, 2007 9:17 PM

He's moving to another station in Tampa Bay. I'm sure that CAIR will be following the story. After all.. they must prevent the truth about islam from getting out. Even if the truth is being broadcast by a station with a viewership of about 32 people in the Tampa Bay area.

Got to remember that with CAIR on the ropes, they have to do something to make thenselves look respectable and so they drove this minister out.

chatillon-

You've hit on an apt analysis of the preacher's fundamental mistake:

The Socratic method works better than just handing out the answers.

As the unique philosopher G.I. Gurdjieff noted:

"People do not appreciate what they do not have to pay for."

The audience should be given the ingredients (quotes from the Koran and Hadiths and the history of intolerant Islamic imperialism) and then let them cook up the dismal recipe themselves.

Just tell the listeners that Mohammad "wed" a 6 year old girl, and took her to bed "to consummate the marriage" when she was 9.

The conviction of the child rapist and murderer in Florida in the news today would provide enough simmering outrage for the people to draw the pedophile conclusion themselves.

Statement of Bill Keller Regarding CAIR-CBS Religious Discrimination

Aug. 25 - The following is a statement released by Bill Keller, host of Live Prayer With Bill Keller, regarding CAIR-CBS religious discrimination:

"First and foremost, it is never my intent to offend anyone with my remarks. I have, however, over the past five years of airing “Live Prayer With Bill Keller” stood for the truth based on the worldview that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant word of God. And based on that, those who follow other gods are on a sure path to hell. Yet the Bible tells us that God wishes that none should perish and we are commanded to preach the truth of the gospel to all the world.
An example of my commitment to spreading the gospel is my online Liveprayer.com. Through LivePrayer.com, we have seen over 190,000 people make decisions to come to faith in Christ over the past eight years.” Liveprayer.com answers over 40,000 emails for prayer each day, having answered some 60 million in the past eight years. Nearly three million praise reports have been archived by people who took the time to write back about how God met their prayer requests.

I do not hold any ill will toward Muslims. I want them to know the truth and find true salvation. And the truth is that Islam is a false religion that follows a false god that will lead them to eternal condemnation. Since the very beginning of the Islamic faith some six hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ, Muslims have had a rich history of attacking anyone who disagrees with them. And this is just another one such historically redundant attack. This religious terrorism is conducted by an organization found to have deep rooted ties to terrorist groups, the Council on American Islamic Relations, or CAIR, to infringe on my First Amendment right of religious expression, and CBS Viacom is an accomplice.

CAIR, who is currently listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Dallas trial involving a terrorist fund raising operation, is viewed by much of the mainstream media as a Muslim version of the American Civil Liberties Union instead of the face of the radical Islamic movement that it has been proven to be since its inception here in the United States. CAIR believes that free speech ends when someone tells the truth about Islam. CAIR believes they have silenced my free speech, but to the contrary, Liveprayer is excited that our new morning program in the Tampa market that we have been working on for 6 months will debut on a competing network Monday, September 3rd. We are also close to finalizing plans to have the late night program on nationwide this October."

Indeed, the pastor needs to understand basic rhetoric and provide some of the basis for what he is saying. I understand he is using his pastoral authority, however when making inflammatory comments (true ones, I think), he should back the statements up with references to the Hadith and Koran.

There is lots of evidence of fable, myth, murderous/pedophile false prophets named Mohammad in the Islamic tradition.

It is pleasing that the man is one of the few Christian pastors in America willing to challenge Islamic lies and false teachings, however as our Lord Jesus said, "Be gentle as a dove and as clever as a serpent." The pastor needs to be much more clever, as do all who understand the evil in Islamic doctrine and teachings.

On another subject:
Hey, I've got a weird mole on my back, can I be a prophet too. ;)

In total agreement with Chatillon and Profitsbeard about this pastor's style. Perhaps the good pastor reads this site and will find this link provided by Darcy's comment from a previous thread useful.

I suppose they do not like us telling the truth. I urge people to contact the American Family Association to urge them to create a petition to bring back the teleevangelist.
AFA has a lot more clout than CAIR with many more members.

WTOG-TV

Keller should sue station and CAIR...taking away his freedom of speech.

"(CAIR) intimidated the folks in New York, and the folks in New York caved in," Keller said.

Isn't it about time or been past time to remove these 'beasts' from our grounds? Next time CAIR opens its mouths''''I want to stick a roast pig right down their throats. I get fed up with those morons trying to take OUR AMERICA over and demanding that Christians have rights removed.

The TV station is "pussies" afraid to offend "evil". But don't mind offending the people of Almighty God...well, to all the people in America that do not believe in a day of reckoning coming about. Be prepared!!! As for the radio station..it will lose its assests...God will remove their wealth.

And while we at it, lets pray to God and have a heart to heart talk with Him (as our Heavenly Father)..to remove the evil from our land. To break the "evil ones' financially.

Remember these words..."Turn back to Me and I will heal your nation."

"It is pleasing that the man is one of the few Christian pastors in America willing to challenge Islamic lies and false teachings, however as our Lord Jesus said, "Be gentle as a dove and as clever as a serpent." The pastor needs to be much more clever, as do all who understand the evil in Islamic doctrine and teachings.

I hear ya James, but I think it the time to speak up and not worry about being so clever.

So here it is;

Islam=Antichrist

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son."
1 John 2:22

It is not befitting to the majesty of Allah that He should beget a son.
Quran 19:34-35).

Read on;

God does not want us to put up with false prophets like of Mohammand, who want us to forget "Gods Name" and worship "Allah".

It is right here in;

jeremiah 23:28-29 25
"I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' 26 How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? 27 They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their fathers forgot my name through Baal worship. 28 Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?" declares the LORD. 29 "Is not my word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?

"Allah" being the same God as the Christians and Jews is a lie, I for one will not put up with it.

So CAIR says it is "anti-Muslim" to speak out against the teachings of Islam.

What is it anti-Christian to speak out against Catholic or Baptist teachings?

Is it "anti-Mormon" to disagree with the "Book of Mormon" or Joseph Smith?

CAIR is Anti-American, that's for sure and on its way out, GOOD RIDDENS!

"First and foremost, it is never my intent to offend anyone with my remarks...."

Well rev'run', or whatever you are, I would have said something like, "Sorry my show offended you. Your 'religion' bothers me." And explain how as a supposed Abrahamic faith (a term which I had not heard until after 9/11 when muslims were seeking to calm us and make themselves 'just like us'), islam does not have the 10 Commandments in its koran, which puts the dichotomy between islamic 'culture' and Western Civilization in sharp contrast.

The truth of Islam will be told no matter what CAIR thinks about it. They can only cry wolf and play victim so many times, before it wears out. What would muslims do withot victimization, without the words 'hate' and 'bigotry'? Anyone who dis-agree's with them, or opposes them, or tells the truth about Islam, the Quran ect, is quickly labled a 'hateful bigot'. A quick look in the mirror by CAIR whould reveal who the real hateful bigots are.
And what would they do without the weak kneed, gutless, compliant, and maluable dhimmi's that hardly question a demand from CAIR, they just roll over, belly up, and play dead before it. Cowards, CAIR care can depend on their cowardice.
Yes the Rev could polish up his radio presentations of Islam by refering to Quran ect, and doing it in a calm manner. But I think it's asking a bit to much. His style is to get worked up. His passion is hopefully transmitted to the audience. All fire and brimstone preachers, including Imams, get 'into' the moment. The program is about preaching and sermonizing. It is not the setting for scholarly presentations.
If he reads JW/DW maybe some of the suggestions here are useful to him...

Same old CAIR, who is in bed with terrorists yet claim they have canged their sheets. They call anyone who criticises their connections
with other unindicted co-spirators, islamicphoebic.
Numerous Cair officials have stated that the USA will be under islamic law some day. CAIR loves the phrase islamicphoebic, perhaps they need a new title- victimphobic.
CAIR is also pulling their tactics "apologize or else" on Randy Jones, City Commissioner of Sanford, Fla.
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/seminole/orl-muslim2307aug23,0,2726330.story

Unfortunately the news media supports their little darling. Perhaps it is time to have our own live forum of truth, gathering those who know what CAIR really is, as well as those who have been targeted by them. Anyone interested?
We can call it "what Florida needs to know"

The bottom line is that CAIR pushes forward with their agenda to stop free speech under the auspices of violation of the 1st.Admentment, while doing the same. Fear and intimidation are some of their so called allah teachings of how to accomplish this. It is way over due that we show them that Americans and Floridians, are fed up
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!

Keller was merely speaking the truth that his fellow televangelists are afraid to preach. The Church has abdicated its charge to inform the public, along with the news media.

Jihad perpetrated by the followers of Islam? What jihad? Who said Jihad? Who said Islam?

The antidote to all this denial is to broadcast the venom being spewed from the mosques.

"Chatillon, et al, you have a point but like the media, you are holding Rev. Keller to a much different standard and that is dhimmitude." -- in response to from above

I don't believe that keeping the debate reasoned and accurate is dhimmitude at all, but most likely to confront the Islamic onslaught with what the West is and what they are not. Besides, the moral and ethical standards of the West are higher than those of Islam and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Chatillon,

Thank you for reinforcing my point.

Mr. Spencer has always been 'reasoned and accurate' yet CAIR has made it their priority to silence him. Do you think that he should be more reasoned and accurate?

Moral and ethical standards? We have a constitution that allows Rev. Keller to voice his point of view, regardless of how much you disdain his delivery.

Posted by: CapitalistGig [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 26, 2007 2:50 PM

I have mixed feelings about this. Of course, it is terrible that CAIR can continue to abridge our freedom of speech when it comes to talking about Islam. On the other hand, that guy, Keller, is a real jerk. He was saying: "Islam was a "1,400-year- old lie from the pits of hell" and called the Prophet Mohammed a
"murdering pedophile." He also called the Koran a "book of fables and a book of lies."

This approach is totally counterproductive and only gives ammunition to CAIR and politically correct non-Moslems. The only correct approach is to expose the values of Islam, to show that they are incompatible with our values, and to expose the Koran as a book of hatred for all non-Moslems, and this needs to be done by quoting specific passages. Then CAIR cannot win.

1) Mohammed was a murderer.

2) Mohammed was a pedophile.

This according to the most sacred and holy of Islamic scriptures. Is there a problem here?

'BurkasforHitlery' (as a New Yorker, love the nick): "The antidote to all this denial is to broadcast the venom being spewed from the mosques."

MEMRI has quite a few translated clips, so your idea is out there. But until such 'religious' speech sound bites become the 'Mosque Nut Nugget(s)' of the day on the evening news, then all the spoken hate speech will be one sided, that is to say from mosques, and protected by our elites out of respect and sensitivity. But mostly out of fear. Berk Breathed anyone?

Capitalist Gig,

Please, not so hard on Defender. Remember that as a Muslim he is allowed to lie as long as it is for the good of Islam. Don't embarass him by asking him to show evidence to prove his point.

He's not talking to me because I showed him a video last week of a Muslim man beating his wife in their home because she refused to put on her Hefty Bag, IN THEIR HOME. I told him I thought I recognized him and he hasn't spoken to me since.

I guess in Defender's mind:

Make believe firebombing of a house = BAD

A video of a Muslim man back handing his wife over and over again for not wearing the complete body covering in your house = GOOD
