Mosul Christians in dire danger

Islamic Tolerance Alert: more on the persecution of Christians in Iraq. By Sahar Al-Haideri in the Miami Herald (thanks to Elias):

MOSUL, Iraq -- They have been threatened because of their religious faith, their distinctive clothing and their success in business. They have been killed because of a Danish cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammad.

Many have sought safety by fleeing to the countryside, north to Kurdish-controlled territory or abroad to Syria.

They have seen their churches bombed, their clergy murdered and community members threatened with kidnappings.

The Christians of Mosul, once a substantial and predominantly middle-class community, have suffered the same fate as most other Iraqi citizens.

Christians are hardly the only religious minority under attack, as witnessed by this week's coordinating bombings against members of the Yazidis community, which left more than 250 dead.

But their religious faith has made them especially vulnerable in a city where the rule of law is non-existent and Islamic militant intimidate and kill with impunity.

''Life has become difficult in Mosul,'' said Ilham Sabah, a Christian attorney who conceals her faith by wearing a veil. ``The militants threaten Christian women; they set them on fire or kill them if they refuse to wear Islamic dress as Muslim women do.

''We only have one choice, and that is to flee Mosul and the hell created by the militants,'' she said.

"The Christians of Mosul, once a substantial and predominantly middle-class community, have suffered the same fate as most other Iraqi citizens."

from the article above.

This once substantial, predominantly middle-class, and ,at one time, politically powerful community... when the secularist Saddam Hussein was in power. Now they face extermination thanks to the United States. The only question that remains open is whether Iraq will be a Shia Islamic theocracy like Iran or a Sunni theocracy like Saudi Arabia.

Since the US occupation, the Christian former prime minister Tarik Aziz has been imprisoned and replaced by Bush's Islamist buddy Nuri al-Malik. We can't really blame these Muslim killers of Christians since they are only doing what their sick ideology commands. Blaming a religious Muslim for killing a Christian or Yezidi is like blaming a rabid dog for biting you. It's simply part of their nature.

No, those who bear the true blame for this genocide are those directly responsible: George W. Bush and Tony Blair.

"they [the Christians] have suffered the same fate as most other Iraqi citizens..."
--from the article above

No -- their fate is much worse. Because while Sunni "militants" may kill Shi'a, and Shi'a "militants" may kill Sunnis, but each group has its own millions to protect it, the Christians, and Yazidis, and Mandeans, are not in the business of killing, but are potential or actual target of Muslim "militants" of all kinds.

''Life has become difficult in Mosul,'' said Ilham Sabah, a Christian attorney who conceals her faith by wearing a veil. ``The militants threaten Christian women; they set them on fire or kill them if they refuse to wear Islamic dress as Muslim women do.
--from the same aticle above

The Muslim "militants" "set them on fire" or "kill them" should these Christian women "refuse to wear Islamic dress."

That is how Muslim opposition to Christians not conforming to Islam can express itself. It has happened -- use your imagination, for god's sake -- through time and in space. It is only because the American forces and the Western press are in Iraq in such numbers that you hear about it. But you did not hear what happened, say, to the Jews of Yemen in 1946, or 1836, or what happened to the Christians in Tabriz in 1660, or what happened to the Christians and the Jews in Fez in 1600 or 1700 or 1800, did you?

"'We only have one choice, and that is to flee Mosul and the hell created by the militants,' she said." -- from above

Why is there only one choice? How about protected sanctuaries for those people opting out of the Islamic dance of death, for those who prefer to keep both their sanity and their homes? The presence of happy, prosperous communities within sight of the warring Moslem however offensive to Moslems this may be, will provide the first resistance to Moslem depredations in that part of the world for a very long time. Such a step would be an example of how the Moslem psychopathology might be quarantined. Help these people. Give them real choices, or we'll all end running someday. And there will be nowhere to go.

Actually there are two choices: leave and live, or stay and die.

The terrorists of the world have converged upon Iraq; it is a fantasy that you could carve out a peaceful corner and be left alone, especially if you are a Christian.

Reality is ugly sometimes.

Pelayo:

You are so right , things were much safer back when Saddam stuck to only murdering Muslims that disrupted the peace .

If killing 5000 people amonth in Iraq would helpd stable the Nation then so be it , and if Saddam's scam to store child corpses in coolers for propanganda Photo-ops for the Useful Idiots in the West , then that's a good thing and if Muhammed had to behead 700 civilians to honour a peace agreement then we in the west just don't understand the true Peaceful nature of Allah and Islam.

Well, George -- what about spreading democracy in Iraq for everyone?

In the President’s Words: Respecting Islam

The United States is a nation dedicated to religious tolerance and freedom, and President Bush has acted to ensure that the world's Muslims know that America appreciates and celebrates the traditions of Islam.

What about these Christians in Iraq George?

Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans.

Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion that respects others. Ours is a country based upon tolerance and we welcome people of all faiths in America."

We have to get the Christians out of Muslims lands. The USA and Britain should make this a priority, especially when they realize that democracy and Islam are incompatible and have to "cut and run" leaving the religion of peace to murder one another. The Christians are dead when the Americans leave. GWBush should make protecting them a priority and allow them special visas and citizenship.

Under Saddam Insane, the Hell was a little more evenly distributed. He was fair, that way, ya know.

And why aren't the "Crusader dogs" (Coalition forces) giving these terrorized Mosul Christians a third option:

-defend them?

If they won't take out sick Sadr and his Medhi militias, at least protect these people.

"They have no weapons. Posted by: EliasAlucard"

....time to grab the kitchen knife, sneak into the night and raid one of the many houses nearby that do have weapons and take them....then use them.....

it is time to fight back, no matter what the cost....a quick death is better that a slow one...

...I seriously doubt they have "no weapons".....

Posted by: exsgtbrown [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 27, 2007 12:32 PM

"They have no weapons"

Exactly. However, the US led Coalition forces have armed their murderers while disarming all "Ba'athists"... a designation that seems to include all Christians.

Above, someone suggested that we have to get the Christians out of Muslims lands. I disagree. This would just be a final surrender to Islam. Instead, we must empower these Christians. Assyria has a distinct territory and must become an independent state for Iraq's remaining Christians, Mandeans, Ismailis, and Yezidis.

This state, with Mosul (ancient Nineveh) as its capital, must be armed and recognized. Since it will control the Mosul oilfields, Assyria will have a vibrant economy that can help free the West from the dominance of Muslim oil. For this reason, an independent Assyria is not only essential for the survival of Mideast Christianity and these other ancient faiths, but also for the economic security of the West.

...sometime in the past the Assyrians were great warriors, and then they lost the will to fight, that was a mistake and it is why they are are in danger of becoming extinct....

.....you cannot keep bowing to Islamic slave masters and then expect to live a kumbaya , life is grand, existence...

....you sir, may be defeated by Islam, but many others are not....

...it is time to fight Islam....by whatever means you can find...be it by rifle or by knife, or even by words....

...be a dhimmi if you want to be, that is your choice...maybe a bad one, but it is your choice...
