Relief: now you can wash your feet at Indianapolis International Airport

I travel a great deal, and I can't tell you how many times, as I'm existing on stale coffee and plastic food, beaten down by the bustle, the noise, and endless dinning of the numbingly repetitive security announcements ("Report suspicious behavior," they keep saying, in outrageous Islamophobic defiance of CAIR and the Flying Imams), there is nothing I long for more than a chance to sit down, close my eyes, and let some cool water run between my toes.

Don't you feel the same way? Can you think of anything more relaxing? More restorative? Isn't it great that the Indianapolis Airport, like so many others, is now bowing to public pressure and installing these footbaths, so that finally the legions of foot-weary travelers, trudging endlessly through, harried and poked by officious airport personnel, dragging their roller bags, subjecting themselves to what Christopher Hitchens aptly calls the "misery and humiliation" of air travel, this endless succession of Willy Lomans on their way to peddle their paltry wares -- now they have a chance to reach for something higher. Now they have a chance, as the cool water massages their feet, to dream of better things, of better days, of moonlit streams where righteous kings paused a moment to compose psalms.

In reality, of course, I think it very likely that as you have gone through airports throughout your life, you have never once stopped and longed to wash your feet. Not even once. You did not ask, and no one but Muslims ever have asked, for footwashing stations in the Indianapolis Airport or anywhere else. Last night during a layover in a major American city I saw an Oxygen Bar in an international airport. Some airports have massage facilities. Many have big leather armchairs in which, for a small fee, one can repose and become, for a moment, an armchair strategist. But these are truly facilities "for everybody's use," as Indianapolis Airport spokesman David Dawson would have us believe the footbaths are. I tried to explain to Francesca Jarosz when she called me that these footbaths were quite obviously meant to accommodate Islamic prayer and only Islamic prayer, that no one else would want them, and that to pretend otherwise was only a face-saving (or foot-saving) measure. She didn't see fit to print any of that, but I have no quarrel with Francesca Jarosz; I've learned over the years to brace myself for the worst whenever a reporter calls, but she was not as outrageously unfair as most -- in fact, her article is almost balanced. Instead of giving him the last word, she might have called Dawson on his nonsensical statement and asked him to explain just under what circumstances non-Muslims might even want to use the footbaths, and what might happen if a non-Muslim decided on an aqua-foot-massage just as a crowd of Muslim taxi drivers converged upon the footbaths to prepare themselves for prayer, but hey, you can't have everything. "Indianapolis," says Michael Saahir, an imam at the Nur-Allah Islamic Center of Indianapolis, "is coming of age. They need to have accommodations for all of their citizens" -- and that's all that matters. Accommodation is the order of the day, and the one certain thing is that we will be seeing plenty more of it.

"Airport's sinks to help Muslims carry out rituals," by Francesca Jarosz in the Indianapolis Star:

In the parking lot where they wait to be dispatched, some fill plastic bottles with water and pour it over the right foot, then the left. Others clean their feet in the restroom sink.

The practice is the last step in a ritual called ablution -- "wudu" in Arabic -- which involves washing several parts of the body to cleanse before Muslims' five daily prayers.

And by November 2008, when the new $1.07 billion airport terminal is scheduled to be complete, the restroom near the parking lot where taxi drivers stay between runs will include floor-level sinks that will make their daily ritual easier.

Such foot baths have started to crop up across the country, in schools such as the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where more than 10 percent of students are Muslims, and at airports such as Kansas City International Airport.

They have drawn the ire of bloggers and pundits, who say they violate the separation of church and state, and the praise of advocacy groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations....

An official cost estimate for the foot baths won't be ready until November, but Hawvermale said similar sinks cost between $400 and $600 to purchase and install.

The new airport terminal is funded primarily through general airline revenues. About 10 percent of funding, for devices such as safety and flight equipment, comes from federal grants.

But some critics say these foot baths are religious facilities in a public place -- and a clear constitutional violation.

Robert Spencer founded the group Jihad Watch, which aims to raise awareness of what its founders perceive as a proliferation of Islamic law into mainstream society. Spencer compares installing a foot bath in a restroom to putting in a holy water font to accommodate Catholic cab drivers.

"The only conceivable group that will use the foot bath are Muslims for prayer," Spencer said. "It's a religious installation for a religious use."

Airport officials say they see it differently.

"These facilities are for everybody's use," said David Dawson, spokesman for the new terminal project....

Khalid Zouecha, 38, said he rinses his feet with a bottle of water outside the bathroom to avoid the stares of other drivers.

"Most of them look at you like, 'What are those guys doing?' " Zouecha said. "They know what we're doing, but they look at us like they're strange actions."

And some drivers say the water-bottle routine gets old, especially in the winter.

"It's like you are in the jungle, like a primitive human," said Aziz Nachid, 42.

Performing the ritual in these conditions doesn't interfere with its religious aspect, as long as the water is moving and all the body parts are cleaned in the correct order, said Michael Saahir, an imam at the Nur-Allah Islamic Center of Indianapolis.

But he said the drivers deserve better conditions, which the foot baths will provide.

"This is long overdue," Saahir said. "Indianapolis is coming of age. They need to have accommodations for all of their citizens."

The most effective way to protest this waste of taxpayer money on a religious font, is to literally use them. Imagine the horror of every time the hour for pray approaches a bunch of Kafur where using the sinks. The Mohammedan would have to wait till after prayers. Then the real howling would start and the truth of the matter exposed.

I, for one, would like to see which airports, gymnasiums, universities, medical centers etc etc - of the Muslim middle east offer these very same 'foot baths' to their ever so pious public sector.

Each of these pious muslims have managed to successfully remain pious - sans infidel funded 'footbaths' - on American soil, in American airports, in American Universities, in American hospitals etc. etc. ad infinitum - without issue.

This is not tolerance . . .this is war.

senor doeboy,

I wonder what our good friend Eagle thinks. :-)

Ill use them after I walk around bare footed in a pig farm.

The practice is the last step in a ritual called ablution -- "wudu" in Arabic -- which involves washing several parts of the body to cleanse before Muslims' five daily prayers.

Let us be grateful that it is only their feet they wash. They could wash their behinds as well (and more...do they?)

What's next? Halal slaughter at airports for taxi drivers' meals?

I'm lucky; I seldom fly (I loathe it), so I don't mingle much with Moslems. I see a only few on my way home from work at Rockefeller Center, but most of them are selling foul-smelling food from carts. I can't imagine living in an area infested by them. I would move away.

I'll make sure I avail myself of the footbaths whenever I see them in a US airport. My cheap nylon socks really do sweat my feet up.

Actually I think we also have these footbaths in Australia, I have seen the cleaners using them to mop the spray from the urinal troughs they are fond to install here.

Hey Bush4eva: your comments are ridiculous. When am I going to see churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia?

Good for you Bush4eva

Also Bushie, when is Egyptian, Turkish etc, TVs going stop broadcasting the Russian forgery, known as the protocols? When is Mein Kampf going to stop being a besteller? When are Moslems going to stop invading causing violence, whether in NY, Southern Bangkok, Israel or Europe? Can there be a reformation in your religion and bring into modern times? Get it or go home!

Posted by: lonewolf [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 16, 2007 9:56 AM

senor doeboy, Excellent idea!
Do a search for "muslim prayer times" to find out what time the line should start forming, for the city/airport you're in.

Iraqi War Diary

The episode covered a New Hampshire reserve unit deployed in Iraq. A good part of the hour was covering an Iraqi interpreter named Mohammed, who made negative references to the “white boys from New Hampshire” who made up the majority of his unit. He lets you know that most of them voted for Bush.

The last scene had Mohammed getting sworn in as a US Citizen. The camera was on him as he vowed to protect the US Constitution and he flinched. He explained how he had refused to translate several orders. The show closed with Mohammed saying that he loved being a soldier, he just wish he could pick his war. Paddling off on some New Hampshire lake.

He says these things in front of a TV camera. Their arrogance will be their undoing.

I can think of nothing nastier than a shared public footbath in an airport. Nail fungus. Athlete's foot. Foot odor that approximates a combination of Fritos and death. I'll just be keeping my socks and shoes on.

On the other hand, those automated massage chairs are kind of nice, and for only a buck or so.

Haven't noticed an oxygen bar in my travels yet. I'd be tempted to give it a try. I mean, everybody's doing it, man, breathing oxygen...

Hey Bush4eve...You can add me to that Islamophobic list of yours when you go crying to CAIR!!!

I will PROUDLY admit to it.

Hey bush4eva can you please send my questions & comments to the 3 major newspapers.
-Why do most terrorists have the name mohammed somewhere embedded in their name?
-Why can't I bring my bible to Saudi Arabia?
-Why is it o.k. to have a footbath in an airport but I can't put a nativity scene up around christmas?
-Why is it if I said something bad about a muslim I would have to attend a muslim sensitivity class but if a muslim speaks ill of a Christian, Jew, Hindu etc. it is their freedom of expression?
-Why is it not o.k. for me to pray out loud but it is fine for a follower of mohammed to pray out loud (and in ways that make no sense at all, except to cause alarm to other people)?
I could keep going on but this is taking up too much time.

Posted by: americanmadestrat [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 16, 2007 12:10 PM

Why are the airport paying $600 per sink, when these folk could buy a plastic basin for 50 cents and fill it with water. Why can't a cabbie keep such an implement, plus towel, in the trunk of his cab, and use it discreetly prior to his prayers? It is staggering how little they are prepared to do for themselves, is it not? Perhaps because self-help wouldn't cause any cost or inconvenience to the infidels?

(PLEASE POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT OTHER WEBSITES)

The U.S. Senate Project (an initiative to increase congressional awareness of the nature and goals of jihad) currently has 85 volunteers in 39 states.

WE ARE STILL SEEKING ADDITIONAL CITIZEN VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL 50 STATES, ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING 12:

Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Kansas
Mississippi
Montana
North Dakota
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Vermont
West Virginia
Wyoming

THE PROJECT: We're looking for people in every state of the Union who would be willing to purchase, from Amazon or any other source, a copy of Robert Spencer's new book Religion of Peace? Why Christianity Is And Islam Isn't and mail it, on an agreed upon date, to one of the senators in your state. We want to get the book simultaneously to all 100 senators, in order to send a strong message. If we get more than two people per state, books can also be sent to the U.S. House of Representatives.

If you'd like to participate (or you just have questions), please write to me at traehnam@yahoo.com under the subject heading "Senate," and tell me the state your senator represents, and a nickname. No need for your real name. And I will never share your email address with anyone, not even with other volunteers for this project.

And visit jihadawareness.blogspot.com to get more info on this project and to leave comments other volunteers can read. You can also see there the growing list of participants in this project, and the states their senators represent. I've also designed a graphic that might amuse. Scroll down when you get to the site.

Once we have at least two people from every state, we can agree on a mailing date and then each of us can mail a copy of the book on that date.

Right before each of us mails the book, we’ll issue a press release to media outlets in as many states as possible, and in that way announce and explain the mailing. And perhaps we can come up with some other ways of maximizing the effectiveness of this project and gaining as much positive attention as possible.

One of the project's volunteers suggested contacting Rep. Sue Myrick, who started the Anti-Jihad Caucus in Congress. I'll try to coordinate this project with Rep. Myrick. I've also been calling various congressional offices to get advice on how best to proceed.

Let us not forget how the 9/11 hijackers went throught the same washing ritual before killing 3,000+ innocent people in America.

Suicide attacks, a quranic ritual, preceded by a visit to the footbath...and we put them in a fricin' airport. How frickin'convenient for out enemies. Unbelievable.

Look out.

Posted by: traeh [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 16, 2007 1:22 PM

The installation of these footbaths is not about cleanliness, ritual or actual. For centuries in America we've (they've) operated with out them. A wet wipe could be used.

Footbaths are a concrete, visual circumstance of muslims in America reminding us that they are here, and are accommodated by us.

Posted by: Elric66 [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 16, 2007 1:38 PM

Everyone:

I have removed all comments referring to what someone delicately termed "hygiene issues." This is an unfair charge to make for several reasons. For one, American hygienic standards differ from those that prevail in most of the world. Many Americans have remarked unfavorably about, for example, European hygienic standards, and those don't have anything more to do with the substance of this website than do Islamic hygienic standards. In these matters in the Islamic world, Muslims do not differ in any significant way from the hygienic standards that prevail among non-Muslims in the same country.

Most importantly, our quarrel here is with the jihad ideology of Islamic supremacism, and with the small victory in that jihad that these footbaths represent, not with hygienic standards or the lack thereof.

I ask you, then, please to stay on the point.

Also, please note that Bush4Eva is a provocateur. He was banned recently from Jihad Watch for posting incendiary material that could be easily used by jihadists and their allies to bring this site into disrepute. I neglected to ban him here, however, although I have done so now, and have removed his posts. It's interesting that after posing (rather ineptly) as a rabid anti-jihadist before, he has now revealed which side he is really on.

Cordially
Robert Spencer

Everyone must use these footbaths as often as possible, if these are outside the security zone, just go use them whether you have a ticket or not. Just tell airport management that you like everpriced food and came by for lunch.

Wait and see if a sign is put up in an attempt to restrict the use to certain practices by certain people. Then complain. If anyone sees a sign to this effect, I hope a photo could be posted on JW/DW.

Quoted from the article:

"Indianapolis," says Michael Saahir, an imam at the Nur-Allah Islamic Center of Indianapolis, "is coming of age. They need to have accommodations for all of their citizens"

As a Hooser, born and raised, I do certainly find this accommodation of Muslim cabbies at the new aiport (now under construction), quite appalling. But to keep things in perspective, and from what I can gather from the article, is the footbath(s) will be in a remote restroom used by the cabbies alone.

So, yes, on the one hand, I am bothered by this. However, the Big Red Flag will be the "prayer" room they will request somewhere on the concourse of this beautiful, new airport terminal.

As a frequent patron of the Indy aiport, I'll be sure to check this out once finished.

Michael Saahir says that Indianapolis "is coming of age." Thanks, Mike. After all these years of Indiana and Hoosiers being lambasted and lampooned in the national press as "backward, tractor-driving, beer-drinking buffoons", I'll still take these characterizations as a compliment.

Lest all you good folks realized this, but ISNA (the Islamic Society of North America) is located just down the road a few miles from the airport. I think I smell a rat!

Keep up the faith, and shine the klieglight forever on the scourge of Islam.

My question for the airport authorities is this:

With the prayers five times a day and all the ritual washings that accompany those, when on earth do the cabbies actually drive their cabs?

Add to that their self-imposed bans on dogs, alcohol-carrying infidels.....

Do the cab-drivers make any money? What a rort!

Does anybody really believe that the airport could purchase and install a porcelan, tile, concrete, or stainless "sink" in a public (aka government) building for $400 to $600? You would have a hard time meeting that budget as a Home Depot do-it-yourselfer. As someone who was involved in public sector construction estimating, I'd guesstimate $10,000 to $20,000 per wuduinal.

Is there something that makes Islam apoligists lie?

Posted by: Charles Bogle [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 16, 2007 10:59 PM

I agree that this is an in-the-face to the citizens of the US. I have ideas for the "wudu" sinks. They will probably be a problem, running over all the time....

I posted this article yesterday (or the day before) but we need to read it and post it everywhere.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/columnists/rdreher/stories/DN-dreher_09edi.ART.State.Edition1.4235f88.html

This "explanatory memorandum," as it's titled, outlines the "strategic goal" for the North American operation of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan). Here's the key paragraph:

The process of settlement [of Islam in the United States] is a "Civilization-Jihadist" process with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that all their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" their miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who choose to slack.

Posted by: interestinconundrum [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 17, 2007 12:26 AM

They know damn well that most real Americans won't put their feet into one of these nasty foot baths.

Any way that someonbe who lives near these things anywhere could post pictures of them so I can make some suggestions on how they could be used creatively?!

Seeing them in their setting would aid in visualizing something :-)

I could suggest drawing crucifixes or the fish symbol with chalk on the walls in front of these things.. Anyone who is tall should draw them HIGH up to make it harder to interfere with and to remind the MoFoes that they are UNDER God as long as they are in the USA. :-)

Doing it in chalk wouldn't make it graffiti either.

We MUST make it uncomfortable for the enemy to enjoy its accomodations in the West - by any means necessary, if I may quote a knowledgeable source.

interestinconundrum, thanks for posting that article; the final sentences are chilling ...

This has got to stop. Six years after 9/11, we're still asleep. Islamic radicals have declared war on us – and some are fighting here in what looks like a fifth column. Read their strategy document. It's there in black and white, for those with eyes to see.

When are we going to wake up?

So now they will have nice clean feet as they tell the Blind Man to screw off because his Merciful loving Allah won't let him take a dog in the taxi , and nice clean feet as he tell the people with a bottle of wine to screw off because Allah is merciful and loving by hates alcohol.

How odd though , alcohol is a natual molecule that appears in so many food items that Muslims would have to avoid many of the things they eat now .

BTW
The movie stars that support PETA are too stupid to know that those jets they fly in have special animal Oil for some gauges because they don't change when the temperatures go up and down, and they don't break down like Crude Oil .
As for the Rolex watches they Stars wear , some of them use a special Oil extracted from the jaw of a Dolphin for its anti-dust quality and lubrication for precision made gears and springs.

Oh the hypocrisy of HollyWood.

Pathetic!! Truly Pathetic!! Have you heard that Muslims were raising money for these footbaths because no Tax money was to be provided. The government then changed there mind and allowed Tax money to be used for this purpose. Guess what our Muslim friends did. All the money they gathered for the footbaths was not used for that purpose to pressure the local government to cough up the dough. What a bunch of dumb asses we are!!! They probably used to money they raised for more productive things like terrorism.

A film about the Defence of Vienna - wow! climaxing, of course, with a magnificently cinematic Charge of Twenty Thousand Horsemen - bigger than the Charge of the Rohirrim in "Lord of the Rings" (which I strongly suspect Tolkien based on Jan Sobieski's epic rescue ride...).

Who's composing the soundtrack? I vote for Zbigniew Preisner, he who wrote the soundtrack for Kieslowski's final four films (see especially his setting of 1 Corinthians 13, in 'Blue' and his setting of portions of Dante's Commedia, in 'Double Life of Veronique').

Do you know how I would end a film like that? At the very, very end, after all the nailbiting politicking and the epic battle scenes and the victory, after the credits had rolled through, I'd surprise the audience by a sort of post-script, kind of like they did at the end of Shrek 2. Caption: "Two Years Later: 1685". Zoom in on a little town in Germany, continuous take down and inside a little church, a scene lit a la Rembrandt or Vermeer, luminous and gentle, a sober middle-class family in 17th century garb are having their new baby baptised - and THEN you catch the baby's name..."Johann Sebastian Bach", and the soundtrack blossoms with the music that that infant would grow up to write, one of those cello concerti, or perhaps the Magnificat, "he hath cast down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the humble; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts...". The perfect, chills-down-the-spine way to underline, for a modern audience, exactly what it was that Jan Sobieski and all the other heroes were fighting for; not only what was, but what would be, one of Western Civilisation's immortal Gifts to the World, hung on a thread at Vienna.

Come on Italy! The Poles are making a film about Vienna 1683. Gather your courage, remember Fallaci, and make a film for her to be proud of - just call it 'Lepanto'. Oh yes - and before that, the Defence of Malta, in 1565.

Come on France! Screw up your courage. Spit in the eye of allah. Make a film about Charles Martel and the victory that saved northwest Europe for centuries, making possible Abelard, and the Universities, and Notre Dame and Chartres.

"...the restroom near the parking lot where taxi drivers stay between runs will include floor-level sinks that will make their daily ritual easier."

Now, wait a minute. Calling this a facility that could be used by casual travellers for relief is more than a little bit stupifying in its arrogance. This is clearly for Mohammedan taxi-cab drivers and nobody else. It would be "fun" to create an incident and intentionally go to that restroom and use the footbath for a nice long footsoak about the time the Mohammedans have to wash for prayer. THEN we will find out just who those footbaths are for.

{^_^}

" But these are truly facilities "for everybody's use," as Indianapolis Airport spokesman David Dawson would have us believe the footbaths are."

.....I have been researching past newspaper articles and other areas that may include permit requests, public debate, and court directives....as of today, I have not found one instance where a Non Muslim demanded footbaths in public areas....nor have I found one instance where Non Muslims used footbaths where ever they were installed....

....I expect to see some violent incident reported when Non Muslims attempt to use these footbaths which are "for everybody's use," as Indianapolis Airport Spokesman David Dawson claims...

...actually what needs to be done is to simply Ban Muslim Immigration...

"It's like you are in the jungle, like a primitive human," said Aziz Nachid, 42.

Erm if you are gonna follow a primitive "religion" what do you expect??

Where has my potty humor post about bidets at Charles De Gaul Airport disappeared to?

If it was flushed down the toilet, there'll be riots aplenty, with many people beaten senseless with 2 day old baguettes.

Let's not go overboard. A public facilility like an airport where people are required to spend many hours should contain services for all. It should provide parents with a place to diaper infants, special arrangements for people with limited physical abilities, and the opportunity for people with special dietary needs to obtain food, be they Jewish, Moslem or diabetic. To demonstrate that their good intentions are not limited to Moslems, the airport authorities should chain a few metal cups to faucets in the restrooms since orthodox Jews prefer to ritualy wash their hands before meals by pouting water on them rather than by using the faucet. Let's leave the bigotry to the Moslems.

"To demonstrate that their good intentions are not limited to Moslems"

....how about catholic confessionals complete with an on duty priest, a Jewish prayer room complete with an on duty Rabbi and appropriate Jewish religious paraphanelia, a private Hinu prayer room with a spiritual leader and Hindu prayer music...

.....lets turn airports into a multi religious establishment for all those who cannot conduct their religious rites off site....

lets ban Muslim Immigration...

The water that's being used in these foot urinals: is it recycled from the previous user? Just wondering, because it would save water to recycle it.

It is obvious that islam is getting the "pet" position in the formerly great lands. Too much money has crossed into greedy hands....the imposition of moslem peculiarities is showing now....
The guilty traitors will live behind their walls, thinking that the fruit of their deeds will never affect them. The greedy ultra-rich, armed to the teeth while calling for the disarming of the population, living in their walled off compounds.
I never understood why the French were so bloodthirsty in the Revolution, I think I understand a little better now.

While this is a blatant act for the PC cause, has anyone ever thought of the upside to this? This could help spot out potential devout Muslims who may intend to hijack a plane. Think about it. Don't you think that is Atta or al-Shehhi had the opportunity to use these right before they boarded Flight 11 and Flight 175, that they would have? I'm sure you won't see anyone owning up to this thought, because it's a form of "profiling", but I figure that they'll be watching these wash stations with great interest.

When are we going to accommodate Hindus and Buddhist? We should have cows, pigs and other animals running loose in Islamic neighbourhoods…right!

"They will probably be a problem, running over all the time...."

With lots of slipppery water on the floor, and some lawsuits in the future. When that happens a few times, the water will be shut off, guaranteed.

...perhaps the airport should have a new responsiblity to protect itself......have users of footbaths sign a release form freeing the airport from any liability for any injuries resulting from the use of footbaths....in other words...use the footbaths at your own risk....

...of course .... we should ban Muslim Immigration...

What was the purpose of this practice? Jesus washed his deciples feet to show example we are to serve! Then Jesus feet where also washed by someone. Why do they do this to themselfs 5 times a day?*.*?

ShyGuy:

My comment got deleted too and it wasn't about potty stuff, it was about HAM.

I guess we have to be PC here now.

Muslims Against Sharia denounce the decision by Indianapolis International Airport to install footbaths. The controversy will further alienate non-Muslim population; footbaths will be used as urinals, which will provoke tensions; and more importantly, installing religious ritualistic devices on public property clearly violates the separation of Church and State.

Travel terminals are large concentrations of stressed out people all of whom want to be somewhere else. Many in America and throughout the world have chapels or places for prayer, some have clergy on duty to help the distressed and religious social service organizations like the Salvation Army may also play a role.

My point is that we should not adopt the intolerance of the Moslems. No one would object to a Catholic saying the Rosary or a Jew reciting morning prayer. Providing a convenient footbath for Moslem ablutions is a simple courtesy.

Of course, if the ablutions and prayer are a prelude to hijacking the airplane, I will have to eat my words!

Floor level?
I can think of another use for these sinks.
Sometimes the line in the restroom can be very long, and sometimes a guy just can't wait...

No, Chief, the point is where does it stop with these people? Do we now have to provide footbaths at any place a Moslem might find themselves at one of their 5-times-daily prayer times? Do we need to install foot washing stations at all grocery stores, shopping malls, all professional and minor league sport facilities, etc.? What about in all of our elementary and junior and senior high schools, too? What about at all the rest stops along the nation's interstates? At the rest facilities in our National Parks? Where does it stop?

You give some people an inch...
