"He was no longer capable of being their father because he had become a Christian." From Compass Direct:
MAIDUGURI, Nigeria, October 9 (Compass Direct News) – It has been more than a year since Allabe Kaku Chibok lost his three daughters because he became a Christian – paradoxically, he lost custody of them only after his ex-wife died.An Islamic court in this city in the northern state of Borno granted custody to Chibok’s wife’s Muslim relatives after a chain of events that began in November 2004, when he allowed his daughters to attend the funeral service of their mother; she had divorced him when he left Islam.
The girls stayed for a week with Muslim relatives at his former wife’s house, but when Chibok arrived there to take them to school, he found that a retired female police officer, Hajiya Maryam Aliyu, had helped his ex-wife’s Muslim relatives abduct them.
Not knowing the whereabouts of his Christian daughters, Chibok on December 8, 2004 petitioned the Borno State police commissioner, asking that his three daughters be found and rescued from Aliyu.
Chibok, now 50, had kept custody of the children after Malama Botul Grema divorced him in 1996, and when she remarried in 2000 he had maintained custody of Zara, now 14, Fati, now 12, and 11-year-old Aisha.
A member of the Church of Christ in Nigeria in the Gambaru area of Maiduguri, Chibok told the police commissioner that his efforts to rescue the girls had met with the blunt assertion that he was no longer capable of being their father because he had become a Christian.

A sad , but accurate, application of Sharia law and a clear illustration of the disastrous results.
This is a case that should be used as a primary reason why Sharia law has absolutely NO place in western societies.

Sharia law will never be accepted in the west, especially the US, without force, or the threat of it. At any rate, Sharia will have to take a back seat to Bush's law which seems to be taking form and shape. Bush's appeasement speeches to muslims, such as at the fake Ramadan dinner love fest, are exercises in Bushtaqiyya. Designed to fool the stupid muslims into thinking he is their friend, so that they stay off his back while he pursues other agendas. But the 'stupid' muslims are not that 'stupid'. They know that all the while he is delivering those flowery love songs to the assembled representatives of Allah, he is busy directing the killing of other representatives of Allah, in other places. Yet they are all there at the dinner, bowing, scraping...bonding. 'Bonding jihad', a branch of 'acting jihad', which is in turn a branch of 'what ever pleases Allah jihad'. So Bush dines with, and sings the praises of Islam to jihadists, whose only reason for being at the dinner, is because they 'are' jihadists.
It is certainly not because they enjoy the company of an infidel muslim killer, a Christian one at that...The Islamic court is right, it ruled with the ruthlessness we have come to expect from sharia. According to that, if Bush lived in Nigeria, he would not qualify as a good father, and rightly so...Just the same, keep Sharia out of the US and end muslim immigration...

In the film I linked to, the "judge" Issa of Nigeria says "islam and sharia" are one and the same...one cannot exist without the other.
I am sure the report was supposed to soothe British fears of sharia being instituted along side British Law, in my opinion, it does the opposite.
One quote was "moslems in the UK feel to be completely integrated, they must be allowed to practice sharia law". That boggles my mind. What that statement means to me is,"in order to fit in with British society, we must become distant and apart." Makes no sense.
If you feel the need for sharia, go back to the land where it is practiced. If sharia and islam are one and the same, do not come to the West. We do not practice sharia, you will not feel at home here.
You want islamic society? Stay in dar-al-islam.

I will send Rep. Melvin Watt (D-NC) a copy of the link to the Compass Direct article along with my two-page Constitution vs. Sharia essay.
He needs to have more information so that he doesn't default to giving sharia the benefit of the doubt.
People will usually come around when persistent people lead them to the body of text, commentary, scholarship, testimony available on why sharia is antithetical to the principles the United States stands for. I hope Rep. Watts committed a sin of ommission rather than commission. We can help fix that.
