Christian Couple Flogged for Attending 'Secret Sermon' in Iran

Islamic Tolerance in the Islamic Republic. From AINA (thanks to Sparta):

London -- A Christian couple were flogged in Iran for participating in an "underground Church", an Iranian Christian group said in a report on its website earlier this week.

The unnamed couple were arrested on September 21, 2005, the report said, adding that a Revolutionary Court reviewed their case in July 2007.

Even though the couple had decided to marry seven years ago, the country's marriage laws - which prohibit the union of ex-Muslims and members of other religious minorities -- prevented them from obtaining a certificate of marriage.

The report said that the woman was born a Christian in an Assyrian-Iranian family and the man was a convert to Christianity prior to getting married.

The court ruled that both the man and the woman were Mortad, a description of someone who has committed apostasy by leaving Islam.

exsgtbrown, but we have an up hill battle to ban muslimm immigration. When they are a small minority they seem very liberal. homosexuality? no problem. women's rights? no problem. converting out of islam? no problam. Relax all those things intolerant things done by "so called", muslims in other countries? please ignore them, because we are here in usa and the koran gives the same rights as the consitution. Of course all the leftists, rightests, and the ignorant swollows it all.

Reminds me of what Jesus Christ had to endure in dealing with his own government.

Christ's words, "whoever wants to become a disciple of mine must take up his cross and follow me" seems relevant today in Iran.

Obviously, religious freedom doesn't fully exist in Iran.

Where are the human rights protestors to denounce this type of action?

Their silence is deafening.

Won't the western press even cover this story?

And Columbia students applauded this maniac and his regime.

F for them.

Grade, and the other as well.

Johnathan:

No ink left for that story, not when there are such incidents as a slice of ham being left in a school cafeteria in Lewiston, Maine, causing a Somali boy to feel unsafe.

....why worry about Islam when there is Paris, Anna Nicole, and T.I.?.....

Certainly a ham sandwich is a lethal weapon!!! Even more so than a noose hung from a tree in Louisiana?

What if the "threatened" person were Jewish? Would this be reported in the newspaper?

...............................

So even the woman, born a Christian, is considered an apostate? These two have been languishing in hideous Iranian prisons for over two years now.

What is going to happen to them? Not only are they considered apostates, but also "adulterers", since the Iranian state does not regard their marriage as legal.

Also, astonishingly, there is no outrage in the West over the US citizens still detained in Iran. What does it take? So many still seem to believe that it is possible to have reasonable "dialogue" with Iran.

We should be shocked.............

...................but not suprised by Iranian authorities.

Is Islam a religion or facism pretending to be religion?

Or is it just a group of sociopaths living off of the misery of a quarter of the world's population?

Surelly, the UN will step in and condemn Iran all Muslim nations for the on going violation of human rights and freedom of religion.

From the article:

the country's marriage laws - which prohibit the union of ex-Muslims and members of other religious minorities -- prevented them from obtaining a certificate of marriage

Another Islamic country that openly and unashamedly descriminates based on religious affiliation and is not criticised.

May the true and living God, YHWH, bless protect and deliver all such saints, martyrs and confessors of the Church in Persia; and may He also grant protection and deliverance to the remaining Jews of Persia; may He, indeed, act to deliver all non-Muslim people, everywhere, who are currently being harassed, slandered, exploited, robbed, raped, tortured, and condemned to death, by the followers of Mohammed. And may He execute justice on behalf of all those who - like Mr Ayyad of blessed memory, in Gaza this month -have been murdered.

On the 11th or the 18th of November many in the churches worldwide will observe the World Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. Those of us here who have priests or pastors of sufficient courage and vision can use that Day to raise awareness of the nature of Islam and its sickening history of aggression (not only against Christians, as shown in this story and many others, but against ALL non-Muslims, everywhere and everywhen that Muslims have had any opportunity to wreak harm).

This does not mean we should ignore other persecutors (Christians [and others] are persecuted sporadically in China; there is repression in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Myanmar/ Burma, Nepal and Bhutan [mostly against Christians], and in stalinist North Korea).

But the victims of Islam should be most particularly remembered, and their persecutors denounced, for Islam's rap sheet of aggression and cruelty against ALL non-Muslims, not just its periodic mass murders but its heaping up of acts of sheer petty nastiness and bullying day in and day out for centuries, from the 7th century AD right up to the present, is - so far as I can see - unsurpassed.

Sorry - correction - the situation in Cambodia is currently not too bad. I haven't had a lot of sleep lately. Sorry for the glitch. Everything else is accurate.

Champ,

Thank you for posting this site, I went out and looked at it, in depth, read many of the testimonials [I strongly recommend all here to read through them],

What inspiration and Hope! For the first time in a long time, I saw hope,

you see I still get the emails from various left groups who are silent, dead silent and even supportive of the Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, etc.,

but they'll spend hours upon hours going over Coulter's remarks about Jews and Christianity...but dare even Speak about the horrid treatment of people in Sudan or Somalia or Albania,

and the socialists/hell even Maoists, are either silent, apathetic, indifferent or apologetic to these tyrannical beasts. The 'twisted logic' of such, their support of idiots with signs claiming, May
Allah nuke Isreal [never mind the thousands of Palestinians that would be killed--they seem to forget That fact],

yet they go balistic over a remark, not a fatwa, just a remark from a right winger...

like I said once, its bad enough, to read and hear the darkness spewed from the mouths of Islamists, its even worse, to read and hear such Nonsense and support of such, spewed by academics, so called revolutionaries who are really supporting backward thinking,

to read testimonials by people who have actually Lived and been taught, to see that there is enlightenment, that some do see through the walls of utter blindness, is uplifting,

to say the least. Reading their testimonials gives me strength, to continue speaking out and being vocal, and its interesting to see, just how many apostates of Islam, meaning those who have left the belief,

did so, due to the violence and barbaric/misogynist slavery. Many of them, and they say pretty much the same things,

and no wonder, the far left, the ones pushing for a miserable fascist tyranny, are so quick, to prop up and support the regime of Iran! The numbers of people in Iran who have abandoned Islam,

are high. They want to silence these people, because its these people, who speak POWERFUL TRUTH,

and those who have an agenda in pushing/accomodating Islamists, don't want the world to hear, what these people have to say. Meanwhile, I read a little about a woman taking the reigns at Harvard,

now, how many Muslim women, have taken the reigns of a prestigious Muslim University?????

NONE.

Progress vs Backwardness, lets see,

Iran: women, cloaked in black drab sheets, many of them forced into prostitution/trafficking, women/girls killed via honor killings, domestic violence esteemed in the Koran,

West: women, scientists, medical researchers, professors, finding cures for disease, animal biologists, environmentalists/finding solutions to real threats to future generations, agriculturalists, engineers, athletes [don't see many cowgirls, marine biologists, athletes in Islam, not women that is],

women working to end poverty, etc etc etc.

Islamic countries, women near death by the time they are thirty, beat down, oppressed, DEPRESSED, some suicidal,

in the thousands upon thousands. Many illiterate, sick/diseased because they are refused medical care, and IMPOVERISHED.

[since I work in women's rights yes, my focus is mostly on women's and children's rights but men don't fare any better...why men in Islam are so angry...their lives suck].

No wonder, the tyrannical theocratic despots work overtime to cruelly punish dissent/and punish leaving the faith,

mind control, 101. They not only have to control via institutions, they have to keep a tight control over the minds of millions, using fear and terror,

like clockwork orange, except, its clockwork black.

Natasha --

You're welcome. Robert provides this link on both DW & JW on the left-hand side of the homepage under, "Apostates of Islam". He has many other informative links too that are listed alphabetically.

This is a very compelling link, and I agree that everyone should check it out.
