Muslims to Iraqi Christians: Come home
Turkey: Halki’s Chapel of the Transfiguration left in ruins
The first story shows that human decency can always triumph over the propaganda of hate, even when that hatred is grounded in talk of religious duty and loyalty. That's a sign of hope.
The second story shows that that talk of religious duty and loyalty -- specifically the Islamic duty that jihadists present to subjugate non-Muslims or punish them for their refusal to be subjugated -- is still potent, and that there is a long way to go.

Thank you for some good news to temper the bad. When the nihilistic anarchists were extant back in the last century it took a world war and a worldwide epidemic before they no longer were a factor, hopefully it will not take that to stanch the nihilistic Islamofascists.

The pictures of Iraqi Christians back in church, even welcomed by their Muslims neighbors, showing off their children is heartwarming. Humanity cannot be erased, not even by Mohammedism and its evil supremacist primitive cult of Allah.
The other story is regretable, that in Turkey, a nation aspiriting to join the civilized world as equal, should have this primitive destruction of religious buildings, which happens to be Christian, still going on. Is Turkey going backwards? No chance for EU.

Afraid not, the British Foreign Secretary said last Thursday it was only prejudice (Islamophobia?) that was keeping Turkey out of the EU. He was looking forward to the time when all North Africa could join as well.

Turkey is NOT joining the EU. That's pretty much guaranteed. Perhaps I'm naive, but I'm not worried about that one happening--at all.
The pictures of Muslims sitting in the church to support their Christian friends was quite moving. It shows decency has not died out among them.

Is Michael Yon fantastic or what?!?! One of the few journalists who is actually giving us a bona fide account of events on the ground in Iraq. This is just the latest of many dispatches.
Please support him.

PS - Robert, I think it's great that you highlighted this story...and I hope you'll continue to give the light of day to GENUINE instances of Muslims attempting to transcend their theological intolerance.
Doing so would
1) help refute the slander that JW is a hate sight
2) show those Muslims so predisposed that efforts at genuine conciliation are not lost on us

Even muslims get bored by being with only their own kinds, they have driven off all the sunnis in shitte neighberhoods and all the shittes in sunni neighberhoods. now there is no one left to feel superior to since the christians also left. besides we all know that the hard working christais did most of their important work and businesses. they need them now.

"Turkey is NOT joining the EU. That's pretty much guaranteed."
Not guaranteed yet, we still have some groundwork to do.
It's doable, of course. Another demonstration would be nice, for one.
