Dutch lawmaker planning film criticizing Qur'an -- Dutch Justice Minister quails: "Think about the what the repercussions could be"

Why can't Wilders discuss the Qur'an? Why can't he attack it if he wants? Does anyone in the Netherlands think twice when someone attacks the teachings of the Bible? Why should the Qur'an be different? Obviously, the Justice Minister's response makes clear why: because Muslims will kill over this, and Christians won't.

"Dutch Lawmaker Planning Film Criticizing the Koran," from AP (thanks to all who sent this in):

THE HAGUE, Netherlands: — A Dutch conservative lawmaker said Wednesday he is making a film to highlight what he describes as "fascist" passages in the Koran, his latest high profile criticism of Islam.

The interior and justice ministers said they were concerned, but believed they had no authority to prevent the lawmaker, Geert Wilders, from screening his film.

Wilders plans to depict parts of the Koran he says are used as inspiration "by bad people to do bad things."

Less than 10 minutes long, the film is expected to air in late January. It will show "the intolerant and fascist character of the Koran," said Wilders, whose anti-Islam campaign helped his Freedom Party win nine seats in parliament in last year's election.

In the past, Wilders has said that half the Koran should be torn up and compared it with Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf." He has claimed the Netherlands is being swamped by a "tsunami" of Islamic immigrants....

"Cabinet warns Wilders on anti-Koran film," from Dutch News (thanks to Syla):

The cabinet is concerned about a ‘provocative’ film about the Koran by anti-immigration party PVV leader Geert Wilders which he expects to be shown on tv at the end of January.

The justice, foreign and home affairs ministers, who are worried about a backlash from Islamic countries, have warned Wilders about the risks of screening such a film.

Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin stressed that while Wilders is free to express his views about the Koran, he also has a responsibility towards society in general. ‘Think about the what the repercussions could be,’ he said.

If the film is hard-hitting, it could evoke hard-hitting reactions against himself and others,’ says the minister. Those who want a free debate must show respect for all religions and for things that are sacrosanct for others, he said.

Wilders says it is not the aim of his film to insult people but if they are insulted, that is ‘a pity but not my problem’. He says he wants Muslims to realise that the Koran is a ‘terrible and fascist’ book which inspires people to commit ‘terrible’ deeds.

On the topic of new movies...

Brussels Journal cites a report that a Turkish group is protesting Mel Gibson's intent to produce a film about Armenian Genocide. I cannot locate any statements by Gibson confirming his involvement. But, the same report says that the Turkish group successfully scared Sylvester Stallone from any involvement in the same movie by a separate email campaign.

I have more and Gibson's email address at my blog if anyone cares to write.

Greetings:

In the spirit of the holiday season, I think DhimmiWatch should inaugurate an annual "Jimmy the Dhimmi" awards with different categories for the myriad ways people find to prostrate themselves before the idiocy that is Islam.

Just think of all the fun it would be.

He can and he and others will continue to do so. This is necessary to alert all non-Muslims to the global threat that Islam poses.

The resistence is expected. The Islamists are desperately trying to maintain the image of Islam under the guise and protection of religion, as opposed to the reality that it is an all-encompassing, life-regulating, socio-political ideology.

Once we can strip the defense of "protection from religious persecution", the Islamists wil no longer enjoy the immunity from criticism they currently enjoy.

The Islamists will then be seen in the same light as the Nazis, for example. When that happens, we will truly be in business.

What brilliant billionaire in this country, or collection of them, will fund and then distribute Geert Wilder's planned movie? Just do it.

"Why can't Wilders discuss the Qur'an? Why can't he attack it if he wants"?

Because Wilders lives in a country with de facto sharia. Holland is virtually of the ummah. Good thing they were freed from Nazi occupation, eh?

Excellent initiative! Kudos to Wilders.

My condolances to the Wilders family on the horrible and untimely death of Mr Wilders, he will be terribly missed. Where can I send flowers?

( to be sent when Islam finally achieves their goal of killing another insulter of Islam)

"...believed they had no authority to prevent the lawmaker, Geert Wilders, from screening his film."

Well, thank L. Ron Hubbard for THAT. Not that big a Wilders fan, but I hope he succeeds with this one.

If Muslims want a school teacher dead over naming teddy Muhammad, imagine the repercussions Wilders will face over exposing Islam.

allah is already foaming at the mouth -- because telling the truth is forbidden.

My compliments on Mr. Wilders' bravery...I hope he and his family have adequate, ever changing security procedures in place.

We need a blockbuster movie like this here in the US, the UK, Australia, et al.

Once again someone who is willing to tell the truth is being "counseled" to not go through with his plans. At what point does someone say "ENOUGH!"? It's obvious that the european governments are afaid of impending violence and lack the will, nay, the hair on their arses to stand up to such obvious blackmail. Obviously the EU has learned nothing important from history, mainly that appeasement gets you conquered. I will probably never see the movie, unless it is subtitled in English since it most likely will be in Dutch, but Mr. Wilder is showing unimaginable bravery in comparison to his fellow officials.

Oh yes one more thing. Perhaps the justice minister should consider the repercussions if this movie is NOT shown.

Posted by: Kevin [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 2:06 PM

get ready for mass riots in holland and bomb threats. little old christian nuns decapitated and as many school children to be mown down as possible to prove that this film is untrue and that islam really is the religion of peace.

This guy figures to be on the sharp end of a posted noted butcher knife in the near future.

Posted by: TheOmegaMan [TypeKey Profile Page] at November 29, 2007 2:35 PM

The irony is their protests just confirms the truth in his film.

Basically they are saying "Dont you dare show Islam as violent or Muslims will get violent"

OF COURSE THE STORY WOULD NOT BE COMPLETE WITHOUT THE THREAT FROM THE GOOD FELLOWS OF ISLAM

Abdelmajid Khairoun, chairman of the Dutch umbrella organisation of Muslim organisations, said Wilders’ film would damage not only Muslims but the Netherlands in general. In addition it could lead to a boycott of Dutch products similar to the anti-Danish reaction which followed the controversy about cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed two years ago.

Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin stressed that while Wilders is free to express his views about the Koran, he also has a responsibility towards society in general. ‘Think about the what the repercussions could be,’ he said.

If there are any repercussions from the Moslems, then maybe these will be serious enough to cause a "re-repercussion" from the Europeans, and they will throw them all out of their countries.
The Moslems are pretty good at lashing; let's see how they like back-lashing.

Does anyone in the Netherlands think twice when someone attacks the teachings of the Bible? Why should the Qur'an be different? Obviously, the Justice Minister's response makes clear why: because Muslims will kill over this, and Christians won't.

That last line sums up the difference between the two religions: the Moslems will kill over this and the Christians won't. It should be brought to the attention of every legislator and judge and government administrator in the Western world.

....show respect for all religions and for things that are sacrosanct for others, he said.

That never seems to be a concern when Christianity is involved.

"Those who want a free debate must show respect for all religions and for things that are sacrosanct for others, he said."

What kind of crazy doublespeak is this??? It's absolutely impossible to have free debate while showing respect for all belief systems, at least if 'respect' means not criticising. All things sacrosanct to others conflict with each other anyway: e.g. if you show respect for women's equal rights, how can you show respect for women's lower status in the koran?

Wilders should line the perimeter of his property with pigs' blood and travel about with a pork chop around his neck. He is a marked man.

What is peace? Are the strained relations between muslims and the indigenous people of Europe considered peace? Surely not! The situation in Europe reminds me of a smoldering volcano; not yet spewing hot ash, gases, and lava but subject to a full scale eruption at any moment. If that's peace, I'd rather have full scale war and get it over with.

I would hate to live that way, afraid to walk alone at night in the large cities for fear of being attacked by muslim thugs, who seem to operate with impunity. I would deplore seeing large swaths of my country transformed into muslim slums where people live as though they were residents of Cairo, Baghdad, or the Palestinian territories. I would cringe at the sight of fully veiled muslimas meekly walking behind their male masters, pushing their offspring in several strollers while carrying another. I would deeply resent the Draconian measures enforced by the Eurocrats to appease the bellicose muslim hordes with no regard whatsoever for the rights of the indigenous people.

I would be furious at someone, my government for starters, for allowing my beautiful, ancient country to be polluted with unassimilable, muslim vermin, and for being forced to feed, clothe, and house these vile creatures with the taxes I am forced to pay. What will the political elites do when the volcano finally blows its top? Who will suffer for their egregious follies? It won't be them for they are safely ensconced in their ivory towers. It won't be the muslims because they are a minority; poor, pitiful victims. So who does that leave? Only a grassroots uprising consisting of virtually all indigenous European people can defeat the elites and the muslims. It's time for the various European governments, all under the thumb of the EU, to start worrying about Europeans, not muslims, but it will probably take a revolution for that to happen.
