A British imam's daughter is living in fear of her life under police protection after she received death threats from her family for converting to Christianity.The young woman, aged 32, whose father is a Muslim imam in the north of England, has moved house 45 times to escape detection by her family since she became a Christian 15 years ago.
Hannah, who uses a pseudonym to hide her identity, told The Times how she became a Christian after she ran away from home at 16 to escape an arranged marriage.
The threats against her became more serious a month ago, prompting police to offer her protection in case of an attempt on her life.
She was speaking on the eve of the launch of a new charity in London today to promote greater religious awareness. Muslims in Britain who wish to convert to Christianity are living in fear of their lives because of Islamic apostasy laws, a senior Church of England bishop will warn at the invitaton-only launch in west London.
The Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, will claim "freedom to believe" is under threat in Britain because of Islamic hostility to conversion....

I'm sure the Brits will do all they can to accomodate the family. Afterall muslims are a very valuable contributor to Brit society. Besides they might start blowing things up again.

My sentiments exactly. The Daily Mail(?) reported that the woman's brother made such a threat over the phone. Sounds like the family needs to be detained.
The reader comments posted after the article were nauseating. Several readers said that the qur'an does not impose such a remedy and one dhimmi from Perth said the woman was "ignorant" because she didn't understand the qur'an.
This is exactly the mindset of some Westerners, particularly after 9/11, that do not accurately perceive the threat.
I wish that 1% of the people demanding Mitt Romney explain Mormonism would have demanded the same from Keith Ellison reagarding his belief system.

I wrote this to a guy who recently told me how nice the muslims have been to him. How peaceful.
- that is how they first start out in every, single country they immigrate to.
- read the current history of Lebanon, Eastern Europe, and now Europe, many of the Southeast Asian countries, AFrica, etc.
- then where the little, 'virginal' muslimettes go, the violence just seems to follow them. Oh gee.
- expect more to come (violence) in the USA and Canada. It is growing in South America too. Only they are decades behind - but Al Qaeda is indeed there too. And Al Qaeda is hard to tell apart from all those 'moderates'. Or is it only hard for us to tell them apart?!

I fail to understand why the British police don't keep a close watch on Muslims who convert to Christianity, to see who may be threatening them. They can videotape everything, and then as soon as the "youth gangs" appear and start throwing rocks, they can descend en-masse with the billy clubs, and throw all of the scumbags in jail.
These people are already in danger; why not use them as bait to catch as many scumbag Islamists as possible.

It seems to me that almost all the British should be receiving police protection, since all have been threatened with death for being Christian (or Jewish, or Hindu, or Buddhist, or anything non-Moslem). Unfortunately, the British police seem to be busier with investigating and charging people who use the expression "Paki". One of the primary duties of any state is to provide for the security of its citizens; most Western states seem to be conspicuously failing in this duty.
p.s. It was the Bishop of Rochester's father who converted to Christianity, according to Wikipedia.

10 or 20 arrests with convictions of Muslims who threaten apostates would do wonders. A smart western leader would insist on it. The best first step is for the clergy of other religions to keep the focus on this issue. If Muslims could apostasize without fear Islam itself would start to unwind, which the Islamic religious authorities know full well. In fact Muhammad knew it in his own day and nothing has changed.

All Western countries should pass special hate crimes legislation which specifically states that if you are persecuted for leaving a particular religion, you get heavy punishment.
(As much as I am against hate crimes legislation, if there ever was a hate crime, it is the way radical Muslims treat those who leave Islam.)
Then vigorously prosecute violators of the law.
How can the liberals and the MSM possibly be against a hate crimes law? They'll either have to condemn violators of the law, or they'll have some explaining to do.

The Bishop of Rochester is the son of an apostate - it was his parents who converted.
Bishop Patrick Sookhdeo, also in the Church of England, is probably the person you're thinking of. His family came to England from Pakistan via (British) Surinam. He converted to Christianity in 1969, while studying at university in England (now you've got to admit that is a miracle in itself - someone becoming a Christian on a 1960s British university campus!).
Bishop Sookhdeo runs the "Barnabas Fund" which specialises in giving physical and moral support to Christians who are being persecuted in Muslim lands, and in lobbying and generally raising hell on their behalf. He wrote a scary 'cat out of the bag/ lift the lid' book called "Islam in Britain" which pulls no punches about the threat of Jihad. Someone on this very website recently posted a link to an article by him, in the Barnabas Fund online newsletter, which offers a magnificent deconstruction of the meaning of that 'letter from the Muslims to the Christians' which has caused such a stir among the more foolish Christian leaders. I recommend that all Christians here read it and then print it out and give it to your parish priest or your pastor. Jews might also find it of interest.
I understand Bishop Sookhdeo has spoken out more than once about the plight of people such as 'Hannah'.
Prince Charles - and his mother, not to mention every member of Parliament [except the two Muslim members...] should be receiving letters and petitions from every Christian congregation in Britain, on behalf of Muslim-background-believers (and, indeed, former Muslims who have apostasised to any non-Muslim faith, or to no faith) who are being viciously persecuted by the Muslim 'community' ON BRITISH SOIL, in flagrant defiance of established British law and custom as regards Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech.
If the Queen is supposed to Defend the Faith, then in the Name of the True God, let her Defend it! Let the Queen and the Archbishop of Canterbury be seen publicly giving audience to 'Hannah', and other formerly-Muslim converts to Christianity in Britain; publicly receiving, embracing and honouring them, and publicly placing them under the direct protection of the Crown (subject of course to the usual checks - I'm sure Bishop Sookhdeo would be able to determine whether a given candidate for such protection, was a genuine convert or not).
Throughout the Infidel lands, there should be much more public noise made - and cold, calculated, deliberate and implacable police action taken - to protect and defend ex-Muslims who apostasise to other faiths, be it Christianity or anything else, or to no faith. It should be made crystal clear that anyone who genuinely leaves Islam will have nothing to fear - that we will come down like a ton of bricks on any Muslim trying to enforce the 'death for apostasy' law against them.

I'm afraid this is nothing new in Britain and it does not even have to involve leaving Islam.
Earlier this year the police were able to withdraw protection from a couple had been on the run from the girl's family for almost 10 years. This story was one of a number of infidel/muslim couples stories covered in a television documentary by no less a man than John McCarthy, himself a hostage in Beirut for several years.
Basically she was born and educated in England and her family were about to ship her out to Pakistan when she escaped and ran to her boyfriends home. She told him they must run away that night because her brothers were after her. They were, her boyfriend's mother was a widow they came to her house, smashed down the door and introduced the terrified woman to and I quote; “The man who is going to kill your son”. This is one of the specialist Asian girl pursuers who seemed to operate fairly freely in Britain and they don't come cheap, her brothers had to sell their cars to pay him.
When the Times covered their story this year they said her family had actually hacked into the Department of Social Security's computer to be able to trace them. I think this is a politically correct cover up because John McCarthy's report clearly implied her family were kept informed by Asian staff employed by the Department of Social Security in her hometown.
I think I also remember a report that her family became more subtle and employed an Asian lawyer who by making allegations of petty theft was actually able to use the legal system to keep track of them.
This young couple have been put through hell and while I do not begrudge them the 10 years police protection it must have cost the taxpayer a fortune. The infuriating thing is that all the police had to do to stop their harassment was to round up her family and prosecute them for any one a dozen offences.
Like I said this is nothing new.

When you say "Asian" you mean moslem, please do not generalise with that PC/Liberal word "Asian".
You see they the BBC/Guardian/Independent types love that word because they do not have to use the word Moslem.
Chinese people are "asian" I am sure they were not involved.
With regards to the staff at the social security department you are absolutly right, there are so many moslems in the DSS and NHS with access to secure (in theory) data, they would willingly hand over data.
They should be traced and sacked for supporting terrorism.

Similar statements by Muhammad are repeated at other points in the most canonical Islamic traditions. Such repetitions are the basis for the fact that all the schools of Islamic law prescribe the death penalty for one who leaves Islam. Muhammad in that and in many other statements and actions attributed to him, set an example of Islamic behavior that includes the right to kill someone for differences of belief or for other "spiritual" reasons. Given that example, we should not be so surprised that honor killing is so relatively widespread among Muslims.

In the UK the police act to protect the interests of the State, not to protect the interests of the people. The State - with its head in the sand - does not recognise Islam as a threat so would have no interest in monitoring apostates. In fact, Islam is encouraged and appeased here.
If anything, the police are too busy monitoring and hassling those who reject multiculturalism and political correctness to have time to bother with death threats against apostates.
Recently, the police tried to prosecute the makers of the documentary "Undercover Mosque", which drew attention to jihadist teaching in UK mosques. See:

A firearm is convenient, but many common household items can be very effective in self-defense when properly used. If someone smashes in your door and threatens your life, even in today's PC conditions a court would have a hard time convicting you for defending yourself.

The Sicilian mafia, the originator of all modern mafia, is from Sicily, the same place where Islam ruled for 250 years. Much of Sicilian culture is derived from muslim tradition. Makes sense doesn't it?
Thankfully, the Sicilianos were re-converted back to Christianity. Plus, Sicily provided a home for the many displaced Christian-Albanian soldiers and their families who had fought the Muslims along side Skenderbeg to the bitter end but were forced from their native lands by the hordes rather than face conversion or dhimmitude.

How much is this protection costing the British taxpayers? What did the British taxpayers get in terms of economic, intellectual, scientific, artistic or other benefits for allowing this girl's Imam father and family into the Britain?
Don't get me wrong. The girl's flight from the fascist ideology of Islamism is welcome and should be encouraged, but why admit Muslims in the first place? What do they bring to the society? They only add costs - economic, social, cultural - to the host society, and ultimately they will destroy and supplant the host society. There is no logical reason to allow any immigration from Muslim nations unless the Muslim immigrant can be proven to be a non-Islamist and can prove that s/he will not work to undermine the foundations of the society that is so generous as to offer the Muslim immigrant the opportunity for a better life.
