Fear of competition rather than confidence in the power of their message. Evidence of a tottering, bankrupt ideology. From Compass Direct:
JAKARTA, December 3 (Compass Direct News) – Attacking the house of a Baptist pastor and protesting the presence of a Catholic temple, radical Muslim groups got authorities to close down two churches in the past two weeks. In Banten province, extremists from the Islamic Defender Forces (Front Pembela Islam, or FPI) on November 21 attacked the Tangerang home of the Rev. Bedali Hulu, pastor at Jakarta Christian Baptist Church (GKBJ), kicking out doors and windows, breaking glass and throwing the pastor’s belongings from the house. The church had been meeting in the pastor’s home.
At the time of the attack, only the pastor’s mother-in-law and a member of the church, Temaziduhu Laoli, were in the house, located at Perumahan Permata Sepatan, Desa Pisangan Jaya in Tangerang. Habib Muhammad Assegaf led the attack.
As a result of the attack and objections to the church, Rev. Hulu met with Pisangan Jaya village leaders on November 22 – with the result that officials asked him to leave the territory until tensions cooled. Activities at the church, which has a permit and is registered with Religious Affairs authorities, came to a halt.
“It’s okay for a while, but I’ll be back,” said Rev. Hulu. His wife and his mother-in-law were allowed to remain in their house.

Why again did we aid this "moderate" Islamic nation after the tsunami?

Is it possible to donate money to Rev. Hulu's cause--or to that of Indonesian Christians in general?

Islam: compulsion to religion? -what compulsion to religion?
The Laws of the Muslim Faith:
Irrational deity breeds unreasonable followers.
Homicidal 'prophet' results in killer believers.
Bow 5 times and repeat.

"officials asked him to leave the territory until tensions cooled."
Once he leaves for a while, do you think that the demon-possessed mob will ever let him back? Wouldn't that be the same as giving back some territory that Islam has "acquired", i.e. surrendering "Islamic" territory to the infidels?
Wouldn't it be nicer to read the following news clip:
"Officials began an aggressive campaign to catch those responsible for the crime".
They're basically dealing with a bunch of spoiled brats who have weapons.

This is not an uncommon occurrence in indonesia. It's very difficult to get a permit to build a church. Sometimes even though a church has a permit, if there is a zealot from the local Islamic Defenders, then the permit doesn't matter, the church still has to close to "keep the peace", which is what the authorities always tell the church leaders. No help from the "moderate" muslims in the area. Guess they are "moderate" because they just stay home and don't take part in rock throwing, or are part of the group demanding a church to close!
Mosques on the other hand proliferate like mushrooms. There are mosques everywhere in Jakarta where I am at the moment.
Five times a day I can hear the call to prayer from 2 mosques, starting at 3.45 am. It is not just a call to prayer, sometimes it goes on for a long time.
What Dr. Moorthy Muthuswamy said about mosques being nodes for political islam networking is absolutely correct.
In the west, there is a separation between church and state, unlike Islam. Hence the west, until now unfortunately, except for a few, like jihadwatch, etc. and their readers, does not see the connection between the mosques and the threat we face today, which is political islam.
If you look at a map of Jakarta you'll see the myriad of mosques everywhere. Nodes of political Islam. This of course does not include the places in various offices, shopping centers and other public buildings set aside for muslims to say their daily prayers.
We need to see Islam as it really is, it's not a religion, but an ideology masquerading as a religion. An ideology which calls for the domination of people under Islam.
If we don't, before we know it, the US is going be dotted with mosques just like Jakarta.

It's exactly the same way in Egypt. Secular country, my arse.

If you research you will find that the reason the local muslims were upset was that the Rev. Hulu was successfully growing his church and peoples lives were changing.
The reason why more money and more missionairies and more churches should be built everywhere.
Send aid and money to Rev. Hulu, he is fighting the fight and he has a backbone.

Now, now, folks, local blue laws state that no "business" will be open on Sunday. Nothing to do with Islam, keep moving.

...Must be some form of an Islamic "Get out of town" message here....the next trip will result in bloodshed....(the usual result of a Muslim visit to a Christian church or home)....
....you do not want Muslims in your Neighborhood..Ban Muslim Immigration...

Never as I can figure no religion has a monopoly on the truth.
Since Muslims claim that Islam does, is it possible that it is not really a religion?

It's a cult--pure and simple. That or a Mafia.
